I used the boat a few times and noticed cavitation on turns and in following seas. I examined the cavitation plate relationship to the bottom of the boat and it looked 4 inches to high, I took pictures and showed them to the service manager and sales staff, they dismissed it and said the installation was proper and pretty much said there is nothing they would do. I had trips planned and fishing to do so I used the boat as it was as under most conditions it was fine and performed well. The BF 250 will basically shut down as a self protection function if it senses over rev or cavitation. I had a qualified Honda service tech look at it the other day and he said the installation was not correct and it should have had a 30 inch lower unit not a 25. The modification will cost me $3800 but I am willing to pay it in order to have a safe boat in following seas. I suggest buying your boat elsewhere!

Then today I got a call from a Brandon, while he told me of the possibilities on the phone, he would not put anything in writing, i.e. email response, not even that there are a lack of parts for this motor. I've had good luck dealing with these guys in the past, but I don't know about this Brandon guy and his boss. Finally, upset I did call a 3rd time after being hung up by him twice, and he told me after talking to his boss that they would pass on looking at it, even though they work on Volvo boat motors. Very surprised and disappointed with these guys. Honestly, I hate posting negative reviews and prefer to post 5 stars as I often do for people, but I don't know how anybody can say West Coast Marine Services didn't earn this 1 star! They had it for a month and only said they had completed 2 of 4 tasks. They lied about having completed one of the repairs and when I showed up to get my boat and do the work myself I found out that the work they claimed to have done was not done yet. I took my boat back and will never go there for service again. I had bought my $70,000 boat there. This is how the treat there returning customers. I still had not learned my lesson and went back to get a quote on ordering a 200,000+ dollar boat. The sales person told me that they were not allowed to tell me what options were available for the boat. (the option are listed on the Hewescraft web site) I will never buy anything from this dealer again and will buy my new boat in Vancouver or Salmon Arm. Update Bought a new 25 Alaskan Hewescraft and they will not do the warranty work because I gave them a bad review. Love the boat but will never deal with Sherwood again.

I brought my boat in to Brad to have him inspect an issue with my throttle for my Mercury. Brad did…read morenot go through any of the "process of elimination" things that you would normally do to diagnose a throttle issue. He didnt even disconnect the throttle cables and inspect them. He didnt open the control box, didnt do anything. He was very condescending in his manner, and basically told me if it was him, he would just do nothing and wait for the problem to get worse. I know is capable of oil changes stuff like that, but anything more serious you need to find a serious mechanic. And also one that wont be rude. I have never in my life had an issue with a mechanic and i am not afraid to spend money to keep my equipment maintained. This was a complete fail and I truly suggest you avoid this shop.
