Don't get me wrong: the food is very good. It's everything else that brings this place down. I've been here twice, and both times the portions were too small and prices too high. I started off ordering a latte. They didn't have almond or skim milk, which is fine, but they are leaning on their hipster haven image and as such it'd be nice to get some options. I ordered the soy latte, and when it came out I thought it was a joke. It's The smallest latte I've ever seen. Then came the oysters. Again, the smallest oysters I've ever seen (for perspective the meat was barely larger than a quarter). Many dishes do not come with sides. They were out of rice for the 1/2 chicken, s d offered fries. Fine. It was indeed a half chicken, and was indeed delicious, albeit the smallest chicken I've ever seen. All this would be somewhat forgivable if the prices were more reasonable. The oysters were $2.50. Are you kidding me? I'm not expecting New Orleans sizes here, but you are a SEAFOOD spot. Would've gone for the lobster roll, but you know, $26? Little things go a long way - sides included, larger portions, and $2-4 lower on menu items. I found myself in New York city for business. Prior to my trip, I saw Sea Wolf featured on a food show ( can't recall the name). Anyway, on my visit I decided to stop by to check out the build your own lobster tacos. Yes you read that right, BUILD YOUR OWN LOBSTER TACOS! They were every bit of amazing. The lobster was served split in half and grilled with a side of melted butter, black beans, rice, Pico de Gallo, and soft shells. Everything paired deliciously well together. I also arrived in time for happy hour. I sampled 2 oysters and I had a glass of the house wine. Brunch at Sea Wolf was one of the better decisions I made a couple weeks ago. I was hungover, hungry, and craving something different and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The food is great but the low review is for the service and lack of options for a family. No changing tables in the bathrooms. I came with my 11 month old and friend and because I was with baby we ate slower and couldn't order as much , there was pressure to give up the table. My friends and I came to have dinner here before a show because of all the great reviews, however our experience was disappointing. My friend had originally set our reservation an hour before its set time and right away she kept getting calls to remind her that we have to be there 6pm on the dot even though she mentioned she was already on her way. I arrived first and it was 10 minutes to our reservation time. When I checked in with the hostess I was told I couldn't be seated yet until my friend showed up, no problem as its standard for plenty of restaurants. However when I asked if I could just stand to the side as it was snowing outside I was told no, that I could wait outside or at the bar that wasn't opened yet. The bar area was packed so I decided to step outside as my friend was 5 minutes away. As I was outside waiting I did notice the hostess allowed another set of people to wait by the side inside the restaurant. Weird as they were still waiting inside even after i was finally sat down. Now here is where the real disappointment comes in. After we were seated we were left waiting for almost a good 15 minutes before someone finally took our order. Not only was it an awkward wait, the waiter taking our order walked away to talk t another customer in the middle of taking our order. He didn't even apologize once he came back, just went straight to repeating our order. We usually consider ourselves very patient and understanding in the wait time at restaurants but it was not a busy night and our food didn't come out till almost an hour into our reservation. Mind you our food arrived before our drinks did and we noticed a table seated after us was already receiving their order. We tried to flag our waiter down but to our surprise, he was standing by another table chatting it up with a drink in his hand. Not sure if he was on break or not but he did walk to another table and then go back to them. Odd. So giving up on getting his attention, we attempted to get the attention of staff walking by only to be ignored. I literally tired to wave at a staff and say excuse me only for her to walk directly pass me. Eventually I was able to grab someone's attention from the opposite end. When i explained our drinks we were quickly given the excuse of their printer being down the past 10 minutes. That's great and all but these drinks were ordered way before that. The food was so-so, nothing to really say much about. I was a tad bit disappointed by the buffalos cauliflower as I had one half burnt, and the entire thing was very oily. That's my only real complaint about the food. I do recommend they make the price of add-on on a burger more clear, because there is no reason for a $28 burger to end up $40. Or the waiter could try to remind those ordering. It was indeed a surprise on my friend, but that's on her. Anyway they were really quick to get us our bill and I thought it was amusing that they made their tip minimum 25% for the lackluster service we received from the beginning. I'm not sure what was up with the staff that day that caused this service, but its very upsetting when you go somewhere for a nice meal and see everyone around you being treated more efficiently while you have done nothing but he polite. My friends liked to joke about it having to do with our choice of fashion but I highly doubt that was the reason. Anyway I do hope no one else has the experience we had when they choose to go. Who goes to a seafood restaurant and orders the vegetarian option?? Me. Despite making (mostly) bad life choices, this thankfully wasn't one of them. In an attempt to have a (also mostly) healthy dinner, I tried the grilled cauliflower steak during a recent dinner with friends. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was fantastic: a thick slab of grilled cauliflower, served with an addictive, very herby salsa verde and garlic green beans. It was a sizable portion and tasted really fresh. I was, however, very jealous when my friend's steam pot came out, absolutely bursting with seafood, chorizo, potatoes, and corn. For only $26, the steam pot is an absolute steal (and exactly what I'll be ordering next time). In any case, I had a great meal here and would definitely return! read more

However, I immediately became excited once I saw Sea Wolf because I knew there'd be at least fish and chips for me to eat, which I was in the mood for. (I always want seafood.) Anyhow, we enter the restaurant and stand at the door where the reservation computer thingy ma-jiggy machine is--in a failed attempt to get recognized and seated. It wasn't crowded so we thought 'someone will be over soon'. My smart friend decides that we just walk in since we'd been there for about 2-3 minutes at this point. We walk up to the bar; there's a guy there, but he doesn't acknowledge us. Then there's another man who is walking back and forth clearing tables and serving food who also doesn't acknowledge us. Then there's a big guy getting ready to pour some water who we walk up to and ask "can we just sit anywhere we'd like?" and then he suggests 2 tables we can sit at. Finally, we're seated and ready to order, but there are no menus. Five minutes pass by--still no menus nor any water. At this point, we were cold (all the restaurant shutters were up) and ready to get back in my car and bump the heat! The big guy returns and hands us two menus. We order very quickly as to avoid waiting a long time for someone to remember our existence. Noticing that we were looking for a seat near the rear kitchen to avoid the cold breeze, a nice man with shoulder-length wavy, dark hair (who I am guessing was a manager), came over and asked if we needed anything. When we told him that we wanted to change our seating because we were super cold, he responded by closing the restaurant/garage shutters, which made a world of difference (and was so kind). Food: I ordered the "devil's mess": shrimp, cheddar, red peppers, onion, jalapeno, baby spinach, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, and topped with guac. My friend ordered the deviled eggs and fries. My expectations weren't set high for my dish because I don't like that many things in my scrambled eggs, but I wanted to live on the edge. I was so glad I ordered it though because it blew my mind. It was very tasty and the guac wasn't listed on the menu as part of the dish so that was a pleasant surprise! The deviled eggs were nicely whipped and seasoned. The fries weren't to die for, but I enjoyed the greasiness nonetheless. Sea Wolf definitely had potential to be 4, or even 5, stars but the service sucked. The restaurant had no more than 10 people dining when my friend and I got there (and 10 is pushing it!). After that moment, I dreamed to come back and have it again. So I finally went again on Saturday and it re-lived up to my expectations!
