Our server (Justin?) was super attentive with keeping our water full, drinks and got the orders right. I started with the field of dreams to drink - it was not exactly what I was expecting. The first two ingredients on the menu were strawberry and mint but I think it tasted more like blackberry. To be fair, I didn't know what a bramble was. My second drink was an espresso martini and was much better. The salted cornbread honey bites were tasty, but more salty then sweet. Our group got oysters a few different ways which were served with a small droplet container with carrot haberno sauce - which was hot!! The menu is a bit limited if you don't like seafood, but I was very pleased with the strawberry salad. They also have a vegetarian entree option. This place is hands down the best restaurant I've ever been to in Wilmington. The ambiance is immaculate, with a mid-century modern aesthetic that feels cozy, classy, yet not stuffy and pretentious. My girlfriend and I dined for my birthday, and we ordered the seafood tower. It was an absolute adventure. If you love seafood, the tower is a dream come true, adorned with wide variety of foods with different flavors profiles. There were down home southern favorites like crawfish and pickled shrimp, right next to oysters en escebeche. My expectations were exceeded by miles! Our server was awesome and knew the menu intimately. Even gave me a hint on how to marinate the pickled shrimp. She was so on point and never left us hanging needing more wine or water. I've only been to a few places in the area, as this was my second time passing through on my way to Florida, but I can say with relative ease that this is the best restaurant in Wilmington. The corn muffins were the best in I've ever had, drizzled with honey and delicious. The fried Catfish over the gritz with a gumbo drizzle with a variety of candied and pickled vegetables was... probably the best dish of food I've ever had. And I've been everywhere, grew up in NYC, and consider myself a foodie and amateur chef. The bourbon apple dessert was equally killer. This place understands flavor. The small plates menu is more adventurous than the mains, and worth exploring. The oyster pie with smoked fish was a standout. Easily one of the most complex and succulent dishes I've had in a long time. The small plate ribs were generous and packed a spicy kick. We were in town for a wedding and decided to have a late wedding anniversary celebration here. Seabird pulled together a wonderful experience for us. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with tasteful nautical decor. It's a pleasant escape from the over the top beach spots, but reminds you you're eating local seafood. Their oysters are second to none! With three different types of raw & three varieties of cooked, there is something for everyone. They have their own type "Seabirdies" that are farmed just for them. The seaweed mignonette is the perfect pair. And the house made saltines - oh my. Rockefeller and the fried oysters with blue crab - stellar! Other great apps: asparagus salad, chicken wings, & the pork ribs. I could go on and on about the quality, presentation, and taste. Our server was spot on with recommendations and knew the menu inside and out. Entrees were equally as impressive. They change their menu frequently, but it is stellar no matter what. They have a vegan dish - root veg succo - and the other two got the swordfish schnitzel and the seafood spaghetti. The resident German LOVED the swordfish and was pleased at the authenticity. The entrees just didn't work for me. Schnitzel swordfish shouldn't be a thing. I like swordfish and I like schnitzel, but I did not like them together. The soft-shell crab had very little meat to it. Unless I missed it, the bottles of wine started ~$50. I would have appreciated a cheaper option, primarily because I am a cheap ass when it comes to wine. The oysters are great, but expensive. You only get 6 raw or 4 Rockefeller. The complimentary biscuits are meant for a child. Very tiny. Dinner at Seabird was epic! I ordered the Eastern Ciopinno. The broth was exquisite and perfect for dipping the perfectly toasted bread that came with the dish. Every bite was a new experience because you had such a variety of seafood in the dish! Some bites had the scallops and/or the shrimp, or you'd get the fish, vegetables , and broth . I mostly used my spoon to gather broth with each bite for the cohesive goodness that brought to every single bite. Loved loved the peppery, balanced flavors all around! Plus my husband had oysters to start, and the Chef sent over a dish of their Lemon Ricotta Ice Cream (best ice cream I have ever had!). Seabird hands-down has that covered The only problem I have is that the menu rotates so the oysters I had last time I will not have again so in the future I will be writing down the oysters after I have devoured them so that when they are on rotation again, I can get them one more time. A splurge, to be sure, but everything we ordered was very nicely prepared. We had two of each of the three types of oysters they had available, and they were delicious and cleaned very well. The Dukes, though very tasty, were no more than a teaspoon's worth of meat. The others were a bit larger. We had the soft shell crab, which was very good. My wife and I would advise trying everything plain before using the various sauces provided. The sauces were very nice, but you'll want to know how the food tastes on its own. The fried ramps were not what I expected - no garlic flavor, and without much bite. Putting the sauce on those was an improvement. We split the swordfish schnitzel with spaetzle, which was fabulous. The bit of spinach served with it was a bit overcooked for a Yankee, but probably perfect for a Southerner. We ordered this even though my wife and I are not big swordfish fans, which proves if it's done right it's going to be good. Service was extraordinary. We asked several questions about the source of the food and various wines, and the server had an in-depth knowledge. When we were trying to decide on a bottle of wine, the server brought out several samples for us to taste, which was great. If you're looking for moody and romantic, this isn't your place. It was daylight out, and the room was well lit, with comfortable, casual decor. It worked well for us. If you order modestly, it will run about $75 each, but if you're in the mood for a splurge it is one of the few places in town we have found to be worth it. read more

We went to Seabird for my fiancé's birthday dinner. From start to finish, it was a perfect experience. We were each brought a slice of cornbread; mine was gluten free and my fiancé's was regular. The raw oysters were absolutely incredible, as were the sauces that came with them. The oyster Rockefeller was delicious and could be made gluten free.
