Enjoyed a beer here but in reviewing the lunch menu, there really wasn't much we were interested in. So drank that beer, enjoyed the pleasant conversation with our bartender and kept going on our walk.

I think y'all are sleeping on this spot. We've dined here twice and both times were delish. Most recently, we shared the crab dip, fried green tomato's, and Market Catch which was grouper with risotto, squash, greens and sauce. All were fantastic and all while watching the sunset over the river.. perfection!

We went out Good Friday evening as the weather was perfect for river walk dining. We were seated on the patio and started with amazing cocktails. I will say, however our round 2 cocktails were not finished/garnished as nicely as the first ones. The steamed oysters appetizer was delish and the perfect salty bite. Our table ordered bucatini seafood, shrimp and grits, and red fish. I will say, our main meals could have been warmer as they were more like lukewarm when they arrived at the table. We also had two desserts - the apple bread pudding and the raspberry creme brûlée. Something was off on the crème brûlée. However, our overall experience was great. The manager did explain that they have new chefs and are slowly rebuilding their brand. We will be back in the future and look forward to a menu that changes with the seasons.

I want to start this review by stating that after eating here several times in the past, it has been a few years since we've been here. That said, I was definitely "underwhelmed" this visit. First, our waitress was slow and not engaged. Although she checked on us several times throughout the meal, she acted as if she was new to the task. Second, the food was not memorable. We started with the crab dip and this was probably the highlight of the meal. My wife and son got the Captain's Platter (fried seafood) and I tried some of it. Very little flavor and the oysters were overcooked. I ordered the blackened redfish. Because it was blackened, I was expecting much more flavor than I got. I was simply disappointed with the food. The atmosphere itself was as charming as always. If trying to decide whether to eat here or not, just don't expect too much and you'll probably be fine.

Beautiful restaurant by the river, we were able to see a stunning sunset before & as we were dining. We were sat at a further corner away from the busy main area so it was nicely quiet for our group to chit chat & enjoy our time. The services were fast & smooth, the waitress made sure our drinks were refilled and check on us multiple times. Food came out at a good pace, we didn't feel rush eating or waited too long. I ordered Blackened Redfish, it was sadly a bit too salty for my liking, but the LAYER OF CRAB RICE UNDERNEATH WAS AMAZING. Would just ordered this separately next time if I could. My partner ordered the Fried green Tomatoes - they enjoyed it, I was okay with it, also was too salty for my liking.

This place is near the end of the River walk with a beautiful view. Sit outside if you can. We had a small dog with us. They are dog friendly. The staff were super helpful and kind. Great service and great food. My wife and I both got the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. We left nothing. We killed it. So... so good. We also both got the house side salad and Gin and Tonic. Wonderful lunch. Will definitely return! Nice job folks.

We haven't been here since moving to the area but only because they're so many other places to try. Friends were in town and wanted to eat near the water so we chose this place. The outdoor eating area is phenomenal and difficult to beat! The service was good and he was friendly without being obtrusive. We each ordered different entrees and each was good. Not great, but good. This probably won't be our go-to place but I am happy we ate there again.

We were welcomed in by the friendly staff as well as the smell of fresh caught seafood. I ordered the fried flounder sandwich with a side of coleslaw. Hubby ordered a shrimp po'boy with french fries. I really enjoyed my fried flounder sandwich! The fish was moist, flaky and flavorful. The breading wasn't too heavy and was seasoned well. It paired very well with the simple coleslaw. Hubby's po'boy was overflowing with tasty fried shrimp. He loved the addition of tangy, spicy peppers. The french fries had a perfect crisp and were salted well. We also tried some of my brother-in-law's hushpuppies which were yummy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. It was a successful lunch for our group!

My biggest frustration is the service at the fish counter. It often feels like customers are standing there waiting without anyone acknowledging them. On more than one visit, I've waited 15 minutes or longer before someone seemed to notice I was there. I've found that the best way to get helped is to go to the register first and tell the cashier what you'd like. If the customer service and organization at the counter improved, this would easily be one of the best seafood markets in Wilmington. Great seafood, but the wait and lack of acknowledgment can make the experience hit-or-miss.

We sat down and it took some time to receive water, but nothing outrageous. We ordered our drinks and food (the broiled flounder platter and the clam bucket) and took so long to get our drinks. When our food came, it looked good! The waiter commented that they made an oyster bucket and not clams, so they had to remake it, which was why it took so long. He apologized for the wait. As we started in to the clam bucket, I soon realized that there was no andouille sausage and a bunch of oysters mixed in. There were supposed to be a dozen clams, but there wasn't- not a huge deal, but when there was no sausage and we had to wait... it was odd. I'm not usually an oyster eater, but since they were in there I decided to try them. They were good! But- more than half of the clams and all but one of the oysters were closed. I was only offered a shucking knife. Huh? I was also given no plate for shells, no small fork to get to the clams. Just odd. What I assumed to be the manager checked on us and I shared my concerns, so he sent out more clams for us. No offer of more drinks or did we need anything else, just "you guys good?". No comp to the bill, no discount. Nobody apologized that it was a poor experience. Disappointed because it came highly recommended.

The place was not very large but relatively full, so be wary of coming later unless you're OK waiting. The restaurant had a bit of a rustic look but clean & well maintained, and nice local art posted on the walls. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and a lot of the food was sourced locally. We started with a sweet potato- goat cheese "guacamole" appetizer. I split the Jefe's Arroz Con Pollo and the Carne Con Ancho with my son. My girlfriend got the vegan rellenos. Food came out in maybe 20 minutes. The ACP was very good but unusual. It came with a thigh and leg of chicken on top, and a big mix of flavors of food underneath-- coconut rice, black beans, pineapple salsa. Curiously no cheese. Very different from any ACP I've ever had. Overall, it was fine-- honestly, my son and I both felt it was too many flavors that overwhelmed each other. In contrast, the Carne Con Ancho was spectacular. The steak bits were cooked rare to perfection and absolutely melt in your mouth. The flavors of the arepa below it as well as the horseradish and other components blended beautifully and made for a wonderful dish. My girlfriend said the rellenos were nicely fried and the sweet potato puree was excellent-- a very hearty dish without feeling heavy. And we all also really liked the guacamole appetizer-- unusual yet delicious flavor (and no avocado). Price was fair-- this was definitely upscale, so not "cheap", but fair for what we got. Overall, I'd happily come back, and definitely would want that Carne Con Ancho again. I recommend.

The funny part? The kitchen initially sent out the shrimp dish... without the shrimp. We had to ask for them to bring the missing shrimp, which they quickly corrected. I couldn't help but imagine Chef Gordon Ramsay standing in the kitchen shouting, "You served the shrimp dish without any shrimp, you muppet!" That alone was worth a chuckle. We sat at the bar, where service is usually outstanding. This time the bartender was clearly overwhelmed and stretched thin, so things moved a little slower than normal. Even so, everyone remained professional and friendly. Chef Dean Neff has set a very high standard here, and it's easy to understand why Seabird has received so much recognition and James Beard attention over the years. The food quality, creativity, and consistency continue to make it one of our favorite spots in Wilmington. A missing shrimp on a shrimp dish and slower-than-usual bar service keep this from being a perfect score, but neither issue was enough to spoil the meal.
