Was gifted a gift card here - we decided to try this spot out on a warm Saturday afternoon. Located right near the water in Jack London Square. Parking is a bit difficult but we managed to find street parking a block away. Wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of seating inside. You order first and you find a table to sit, and they bring out the food to you. Self serve water is available. The food came out pretty quick! Thoughts: - Lobster roll (classic) was delicious! Generous amount of lobster. Would definitely get this again. Chips weren't too great though. - Fried shrimp basket was nice. Shrimp was crispy and tasty. Fries were also very crispy and flavorful. The sauces go well with the shrimp/fries. Coleslaw isn't the best though. - The crab nachos were surprisingly good. A nice cheese sauce combo with pico/avocado crema and a good amount of crab. - Garlic noodles were fine, nothing standout about them. - Mix and match basket with catfish, cod, and calamari (not pictured): Catfish was solid (would highly recommend, one of the favorites of the meal!), but would pass on the cod and calamari - a bit dry/fishy. First off, this place is one the water on Jack London Square - which is pretty much in a death spiral. The once thriving and bustling go-to spot is a mere shadow of what it once was. Anyone remember the Jack London Village that they tore down to build this end of the development? Anyways - this is a fast casual type spot, where you order from the counter, place the little number sign on your table and wait for it to be delivered. The menu is your standard seafood joint by the water type, with all the usual suspects represented. Fried fish, shrimp, chowder, seafood pastas--if you've ever been to a seaside seafood joint, chances are good that the menu here is exactly like the one you remember seeing at the countless other places like this one. I noticed right off the bat that their pricing structure was on the high side - with a $17 burger and fries option, with the bulk of the fried seafood options in the $22-25 range. A cheaper choice might be the $16 fish tacos (two of them) but I kind of draw the line at paying $8 for a single taco. Our table ordered a few of the fried options plus a few soda beverages. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I noticed that the silver metal trays that the food comes on is a bit on the small side, especially considering the prices for each dish. The fried shrimp dish was a big scoop of mega-salty french fries, and 3 average sized deep fried shrimp. Yes - 3 as in 1, 2, 3. That's what - $7+ a shrimp? The two fried fish platters weren't much better portion-wise. My deep fried cod consisted of three modest sized fish-fingers, and not the single luscious chunk of perfectly fried cod I had imagined in my head when ordering. They were fine - but very average and nothing that stood out as life-changing or something to write home about. As mentioned earlier, they must be employing the Little Rascals method where they over salt everything, in hopes that you'll order another beverage to wash down the copious mounts of sodium (I figure about 4+ days worth). The fried catfish platter that rounded out our order was more of the same - thin meager portions of fish on a large bed of mega-salted fries. Small plastic containers of generic pre-made tartar sauce and coleslaw can with each platter. The coleslaw was fine - just very forgettable and perhaps a tad on the flavorless/watery side. All said, was it okay? Yes. Was it anything outstanding that I'd crave and plan my return to have again? No. It is in line with touristy by-the-Sea seafood places that charge an extra couple of bucks because they're "on the water"? Pretty much. You're paying for the view and the 'scene' of sitting on the patio out front to people watch, and not for the food. I kind of hate these places and normally try my best to stay away from them, but every once in awhile, you gotta put on your tourist hat and join the mindless flock. A meager 2 stars outta 5 from me. Instead, I'd stroll around this area on a Sunday when they hold the farmer's market (again - is not what it used to be) and then drive through the tube to Alameda where great dining spots are numerous on Park Street. You can stop at Crab Cove and Crown Beach on the way, for more touristy sightseeing. read more

Came here with my boyfriend and dog after seeing it was dog friendly. We both ordered the butter lobster roll and fries. Be careful, gang. Both my boyfriend and I have been sick, and after cleaning the minuscule seasoning off of the aforementioned lobster and giving two bites of it to my dog (who has had lobster cooked at home before and been fine), the dog threw up too. I absolutely do not take leaving negative reviews lightly, but man, this feels like a response situation. Let's talk more about the food. The lobster itself seemed perfectly fine - smell and texture were okay, and it didn't seem unsafe to consume, hence why we ate it to begin with, and allowed the dog two very well cleaned bites. I'd love to remind the audience that the dog has had lobster and seafood before (also seasoned and then rinsed) with utterly no issue. There was no other food that all three of us shared that day. No flu. No one was sick. So unfortunately, that brings me to the point I had tried to avoid in being succinct. I didn't think it was the food, I simply let people know what we ordered and that we all had it. What I think, as someone who worked in a kitchen environment for multiple years, is that someone in this restaurant is not great at remembering to wash their hands or their equipment. The staff coming in here was very welcoming and helpful and pointing out where to park. I made a difference interior is very long and narrow, but everybody gets a seat by the window, looking at all the boats in the marina. What a beautiful view. The area around here is under a lot of construction and so there's a lot of streets that are blocked off and it makes it sort of difficult to weave your way around here and figure out where everything is. But once you get down here, you know that it's famous for this area for a long time for being a place where people enjoy food and like to hang out and listen to good music. Walking by the tables, I looked down and everybody was really enjoying their foods and the platters are just loaded with it. Everything looked delicious. It'd be interesting if they have a combo platter. I also like that they do this crispy, giant prawns, man they look good. I'm chopping at the bit to get myself a first bite. Our server Austin was amazing so helpful and so patient while we were trying to figure out what to order. Everybody that works here actually was awesome. I started with a bowl of chowder. It's just like I make it at home and it was flawless. I loved it. I'd come here and have a big bowl of it with crusty bread for sure. That was followed by me having some of the best crispy shrimp that comes along with a side of garlic, french fries and you have your choices several types of fries. This place has been bookmarked for some time now. There was a short wait you order then you can have a seat. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I love the large windows and being able to look out. I wanted to sit by the window but the tables werent clean. I ordered a coconut water probably the best one ive ever had. They have some good drink options. I started with the lobster bisque which was really good. To eat I tried the hawaiian shrimp with garlic noodles it was pretty good. Was randomly scrolling on yelp and saw this place. I don't remember it ever existing tbh. I usually go to the city or Marin area for lobster rolls and garlic noodles so I'm glad there's on nearby now! I just did take out and wanted to try the garlic noodles before committing myself to a lobster roll. There's street parking across the railroads or you can park in the loading zone for 10 minutes. There's a few chairs outside and lots of indoor seating. The view is pretty nice and overlooks the water. To order, it just checkout and goes pretty fast. I went on a slower day so I'm not sure how packed this place is on the weekend. They made my garlic noodles pretty fast and I went home to try it. Kinda just wish I ordered a lobster roll and enjoyed it there but meh. The noodles were soooooo goood! It was a pretty good portion for one and the price point is within reason. Seabreeze on the Dock is a waterfront dog-friendly gem for lunch or dinner. They have a pretty extensive menu with everything seafood: crab rolls, lobster rolls, seafood tacos, lobster nachos, Po Boys, Garlic Noodles, fried seafood baskets, seafood boils, soups, salads, burgers and desserts, along with a few non-seafood options like chicken and burgers. They also serve beer, wine and frozen margaritas. The menu is kid friendly with $10 options like chicken tenders, a burger, or cod and fries. During our visit we had lobster rolls with waffle fries ($33.95) and fish tacos ($16.95). The portions are large and reasonable for the quality. Tacos had large pieces of fresh fish topped with flavorful guacamole and salsa. The lobster rolls were large, with a large portion of lobster inside and no fillers. The rolls were soft and just the right size for the lobster inside. The waffle fries that accompanied it were also delicious. There is a decent amount of outdoor seating (about 8 tables of varying size), most of them shaded, and they have an outdoor heat lamp. There was plenty of room for my dog to stretch out, and although the food was upscale the place was casual. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. The accompanying green space along Jack London is a great place to go for a walk or relax afterward, and if you want to take your food to go, they often offer a discount for ordering online. read more

Seabreeze On the Dock has a 5-star location. Time things right and you can snag a table with beautiful views of the Oakland estuary out two huge picture windows. Of course, you'll also need to eat and drink while enjoying those seats and that's where the complications come in. Seabreeze has a big menu featuring seafood in many iterations. My party of two opted for fish tacos (Cod, $16.95) and a fried seafood plate (calamari, fries, & slaw, about $22). The service model here is fast-casual; order and pay at a counter then food is brought to your table when ready. Service was great but I couldn't say the same for the food. What should've been a drizzle of spicy sauce atop the fish tacos was more like a ladle-full. The wildly excessive application of sauce made consuming the tacos ridiculously messy and rendered the tacos themselves unappetizing in appearance. The calamari presented a different issue. Pieces were fried (possibly battered?) to such a degree that it was difficult to discern any flavor or shape beneath. I detected no tentacles, each piece was just a crisp-fried blob, not un-tasty but also not tasting of calamari. The accompanying slaw was a non-starter as well but the fries - as if more fried fare were needed - were good. I'd order quite differently - and very carefully - upon a return visit to Seabreeze and ask for any saucy topping to be served on the side. read more

Our experience was disappointing. The margaritas were not good at all. We were also with a fragile elderly woman who needed just a small meal, but the employee behind the counter refused to let her order from the kids' menu, even after we explained that she would only eat a couple of bites. We were craving seafood on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so we decided to stroll around Jack London Square. My boyfriend suggested we try this spot, and I'm glad we did! He ordered the King Crab legs and a dozen fresh oysters for us, and not gonna lie, they were sooo fresh. The way they grilled the crab legs was impressive like the flavor really seeped into the meat. They served it on a bed of veggies with melted butter for dipping, which made it even better. The oysters were creamy and delicious, and you could still taste the ocean (in the best way possible). The location is great its right on the waterfront and the restaurant was clean with a welcoming vibe. Our server was incredibly nice, always smiling, and his good energy was contagious. Major plus: the whole place overlooks the marina which added to the relaxing experience. Will we come back? Probably not anytime soon cos it's definitely not the most budget-friendly spot. But to be fair, you're paying for the freshness and quality. I'd love to return to try other dishes! 4.5! Really close the a 5! Hubby and I had a Sunday Funday lunch and we really enjoyed ourselves. I LOVE the location and how you're sitting right along the water. Perfect place to take a walk before or after your meal. You order at the counter and they deliver your food to you after. Staff were friendly the whole time and even though they don't take the order at the table, they checked up on us a couple times. Bloody Mary 5/5: it came LOADED, just how I like it. I was so excited for all the snacks in my drink LOL. I also like how it's "seasoned", I'm not a fan of bloodies that taste only like tomato juice. Oysters 4.5/5: fresh and good sized. This location is beautiful with big windows looking out over the water & boats docked right next door. The service is minimal with the casual style ordering & then receiving a number. We sit & wait under 8 min to get our food. My total with tip was 40$ so I was expecting a decent portion of food. For the price point the portions are ok but I think could be more generous for eating in & tipping. My friend had garlic noodles with grilled salmon which she said was good but didn't rave about it.My food was ok, I thought the crab roll was actually the only delicious item with a good amount of fresh , real crab...however on the smaller side but thats understandable. I did not know what to expect, as I have never dined here. This location used to be IL Pescatore many years ago. The ambiance is nice (3.5 stars) with view of the estuary and boats, but everything else leaves me a lot to be desired. No wait staff to take your order. The drill is get in line, tell the employee what you are ordering, pay for the food, have a seat and wait for your meal. Ahh...cafeteria style like Jollibee or some fast food restaurant. Indeed it is very casual. I start with my favorite beverage - an Arnold Palmer. The Arnold Palmer is a taste test for me to determine whether the food is tasty, on point, good or not. Well, the Arnold Palmer is okay (3 star), which means it barely passed. Eats: for me, the Hawaiian style grilled salmon with garlic noodles. Daughter has the fried catfish basket with waffle fries. Looks and presentation of the meals can be deceiving when it comes to eating the food. The glaze on my salmon is a tad salty. The salmon itself sans the glaze is on point - moist and fresh (3.5 stars). The garlic noodles are rated at 3.5 stars. The catfish and waffle fries are underwhelming, lacking in seasoning (3 stars). In other words, bland. Nothing to write home about. Cajun style? Not! Service was okay. The employees were nice and courteous. Future visits? Might, then might not depending on my mood. It was 1 type of oyster but the oysters varied greatly in size. Few oysters had rocks/sand particles inside, oysters could have been cleaned better. Next, I ordered 2 rolls with chips. 1. Lobster Roll with butter, served hot on a brioche roll with a side of chips. 2. Lobster roll with lobster salad/mix served chilled with the Seabreeze aioli on brioche roll. Both rolls were good, not amazing. I preferred the chilled lobster roll over the lobster roll tossed in butter. The chilled lobster roll had so much flavor and more filling. So I actually ordered online and haven't been in person yet but I know this place is located nicely on the water of Jack London which is a great location in Oakland. I ordered their salad with 1/4 pound lobster on DoorDash and clam chowder and was so very pleasantly surprised by the portions and quality. I was lightweight expecting small dry lobster meat over my salad, but it was a hefty portion with a ton of lobster, totally worth the ~$35. As for the clam chowder, they use real clams, and are generous with it! Very impressed with the quality of food and will 100% order again. read more

Looking at all of the positive reviews I am surprised by our recent experience at Seabreeze on the Dock and wondering if it was an off night. We went there on a weekday right around 5pm and there were plenty of indoor and outdoor seats. On a chilly night they provide heating lamps for the outdoor seating. We walked in and ordered right away. As some have mentioned it is a pricey establishment for what it is. Yes nice location with views of the marina, but inside it has a fast food vibe. We ordered - Calamari and fries - was ok no real flavor other than the fried - Small bowl of Clam chowder - I was surprised by the reviews and to find that the only flavor we could taste was of the ocean. A handful of the clams (whole pieces) were grainy which was not pleasant to eat - Ceviche with Chips - was decent, however for the price the portion was small. Would be easier to eat with chips if the shrimps where not whole pieces For three items our bill came to a little over $53 which is pricey. After the lackluster flavors and the feeling of eating sand from the ocean we will not be returning. read more

So pros and cons... I ordered on DoorDash 2 lobster rolls. For lunch the next day. Opened it up and as you can see they gave me ONE. Now the actual flavor of the item. It's good! Heated it up for 15 seconds and it was sooooo buttery and good. It is pricy, and it's priced $5 MORE on doordash than in person pricing. I just wish I would have got my second sammich and the fries I ordered ugh. The food here was sooooooo delicious. I ordered the mix and match basket with shrimp and extra catfish. They both had so much flavor and they were cooked really well; I love the crunch. I also ordered the spicy Hawaiian shrimp, which were really good and flavorful! I also had the Cajun seafood boil with Dungeness crab and potatoes, that was also pretty good. The service was great, and I love the idea of paying first. We got to choose where we sat and chose outside on the water where the ambiance was peaceful and relaxing. If you are craving for fried seafood, look no further. I'm always in for calamari, oysters or fish & chips. It was a pleasant warm day where outside under some shade would be nice. Eventually elected to dine indoor. Orders are placed at the counter and a number is assigned where the food will be delivered to your table. On this occasion, I had a small bowl of clam chowder and a basket of oysters. The chowder had plentiful of clams and potatoes. It was slightly thick.
