Our experience with Eric West / EWC Construction Services has been devastating. We hired him to build our ADU under a $237,000 contract and paid approximately $130,000. Only a small portion of the project was completed before work stopped, leaving us with an unfinished construction site. We have since filed a CSLB complaint, police report, bond claim, and complaint with the District Attorney's Office. We also later connected with 6 other families who reported serious problems with their projects involving the same contractor. Look up the company on BBB, there's a complaint against him and has not addressed it which is why he has a -D rating on BBB. I know that he has scammed AT LEAST 4 families already. We were defrauded by Eric West for over $158, 000. He started the work which only did more damage to the property. His workers complained that he never paid them for the little work approximately 5% that was done. It is questionable that the workers may have destroyed the five percent that was worked on as retaliatory. They set the bar high! My project was a kitchen remodel, elevating a sunken living room, new wall, taking out fireplace facing to close it off, smoothing a flat ceiling in living, dining and kitchen area, and new flooring. All I can summarize is WOW! Communications are timely, nearly instantaneous. Work was taking place everyday all day, 6 days/week and so progress was briskly occurring. I cannot recommend this company. I paid nearly $50,000 for work that looks like it cost maybe $20,000. The owner, Eric, blamed everyone, including ICE and the President, instead of taking any accountability. I don't believe Eric knows much about construction; the quality of work depends entirely on his hired help, which he also managed poorly. He is nice until the very end, but being nice doesn't result in quality work. I paid for a full remodeled bathroom, kitchen. Did not get the kitchen because he lied about his abilities and he has zero connection for contractor rates. Once I seen the work and tge time it took for a tiny bathroom remodel I had zero confidence in him doing my kitchen. Nonetheless, he was paid for several areas to be painted, floors installed in 3 areas and a remodeled bathroom. I gave Eric several chances to rectify all the issues but he continued to lie and scam. He charged me an additional $1400 for an electrician to move a switch. No electrician touched my home. I had to pay another to come and fix every outlet his handyman touched. Eric doesn't have a license to do drywall, painting, electrical work or plumbing. He doesn't staff anyone with these licenses nor can he prove he has contracts with any. He is a general contractor that is supposedly knowledgeable in new builds and framing work. Attached are images of what he considers a quality finish. He claims I fired him before he could fix anything, but that is simply not true. I find it hard to believe that he allowed work of this quality to be presented to a customer without his review. He promised a final walkthrough and cleanup, but as you'll see in the images, that never happened. Save your time and go to Home Depot--you will spend less and receive better work. read more

We are very happy with the completion of our bathroom remodel. Eric and his crew were great and we appreciate their attention to detail and accommodating all of our requests. Eric offered exceptional advice regarding the replacement tile and window and he found a great deal on a replacement vanity for us. After getting quotes from 3 different contractors, I asked Eric to come over and take a look at my garage remodel. Not only was his quote super competitive, he also could start the project quickly which was important for our family. The customer experience is top notch. Our project took roughly 3 weeks (in line with his 2-3 week estimate) and multiple times per week during the project he would call at night to check in, make sure we we're satisfied, and walk us through what would be happening over the next few days. We hired Eric as our contractor to remodel 2 bedroom 1.5 bathroom house, pretty much all interior, from demolishing to repainting, replumbing laundry room, 1.5 bathrooms, installing hardwood floors throughout, and tiling kitchen and bathroom floors. Only thing we didn't have budget for was the kitchen cabinets. EWC exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond. They took care of our house like their family member's house. They showed up everyday 8hrs/day, rain or shine, 40+hrs a week worked really hard and paid attention to small little details. They had their own venders that carried top of the line materials at best prices. We were first time home buyers and crew made the house look like the ones you would see on HGTV. They took the limited space we had and guided us to amazing solutions! We had so little pantry room that was connected to the laundry room in a weird way. Now, after opening the walls and expanding the rooms everything just look PERFECT. This remodel truly resulted in improved workflow - we have an amazing and functional laundry and pantry rooms!
