We love coming here, especially on holidays like Father's Day, is that a holiday? Peter is always happy to see us and he always gives us special treats! I love their kimnedai but tonight they were sadly out of it so I guess we'll have to come back tomorrow! It's always fun and the sushi is fresh, the Japanese scallops are terrific! I've been here so many times so I can't even add any new pictures

Overall decent fish. Nothing to write home about. Avoid halibut and shrimp here. Great ambiance. Great staff. Slow AF to take orders and fill. Understanding that there is a perfect balance between fish size and rice ratio when considering nigiri; I felt Seabutter was toeing the fine line of trying to be a one bite wonder to ultimately being way too small in portion size. Typically a 12 piece nigiri will fill me up from other locations - I needed 15 here and a hand roll before I felt satisfied for context. Avoid their halibut and shrimp. Halibut tasted like black licorice and has officially given me halibut PTSD, and sweet shrimp was everything but, having a strange texture more slimy than delicate. Staff was kind - but order taking and fulfillment was painfully slow, even on a slow Saturday at the bar. The pros - Otoro, seared salmon, uni spoon appetizer, goldeneye, red snapper were really good. 8-9/10 on these.

Went for our anniversary dinner and reserved via Resy for Amex credit. Went on a Sunday and had no issues with last minute planning. The team were able to accommodate my avocado allergy and were great hosts. We had a wonderful time and great experience. The seared rolls were the absolute best and I would come here again just for that. A bit on the pricey side but again we had the amex resy credit so it wasn't too bad.

Legit some of the best sushi I've ever had. The fish is extremely fresh and delicious. Do yourself a favor and order the pressed yellowtail, it's easily my favorite dish. 100% recommend checking this place out!

Parking- It was surprisingly easy esp for the area. There's a convenient garage connected to the building and it's not crazy expensive. The restaurant also validates! Lobster Tail Cut Roll- This was incredible! The lobster was buttery, tender, and perfectly cooked with a slight crisp on the outside. Every bite tasted fresh and well-balanced. Not overly sauced and had an almost smoky aftertaste. A5 Wagyu Nigiri- The beef was incredibly rich, buttery, and literally melted the second it hit my mouth. You could almost mistake it for salmon with how soft the bite was. Perfectly seared with just enough warmth to bring out the fat without overpowering it. This alone is worth coming back for. Bluefin Tuna Sushi- The bluefin tuna nigiri completely melted in my mouth. The fish was visibly high quality, rich, and perfectly sliced. The rice was seasoned just right and held together without overpowering the tuna. You can really taste the freshness. Definitely coming back!

This restaurant is located on the 3rd floor. Street parking is probably best in the surrounding neighborhood We tried: Spicy tuna crisy rice Omakase select A5 Wagyu sushi Sweet shrimp Crispy Albacore roll Quality of the fish is OK. The wagyu I ended up swallowing it hole for some reason they meat did not break apart. Overall it's a cute spot for a date night/catching up with friends.

I came here for my Birthday again this year(third time in a row) as this my absolute favorite sushi spot at home. It did not disappoint. I tried again to get a sunset window spot but alas...no luck. I will keep trying. The star here if you can only get one thing is the Salmon Nigiri! It's simple, fresh and bold! Our waiter was kind and attentive and recommended some amazing cold sake. I can't wait to come back for more!

Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice and Spicy Salmon Crispy Rice

We were craving sushi and Seabutter did not disappoint. We got a reservation within an hour and sat outside in the semi enclosed patio - when the sun is shining its actually quite warm out there. They also have indoor seating and bar seating if you want to see the sushi be made. Our server was a cool dude and gave us good suggestions in terms of how much food we should order. We started with the spicy salmon and spicy tuna crispy rice - 2 pieces come in each but they were quite large with a decent amount of fish. For our mains we ordered the 911 role, the sunset role, and one spicy tuna handroll & one spicy tuna cut roll. The fish all tasted super fresh, the portions were nice and filling, and the flavors felt fun and fresh. The view was gorgeous, the sake was well priced, and service was fantastic. A definite stop in Laguna beach next time around!

Recently visited this popular sushi restaurant in Laguna Beach. Having it on our radar and wanted to spend more time by the coast, it was finally time to make it happen. It's actually located on the 2nd floor off of PCH. Parking is currently only street. I think they are improving the lot below as we saw construction going on down there. But, be mindful how tricky it is to find a local street spot. Food wise, it was good. While the rice was on the drier side, overall quality and bite was good. Amberjack is our go to with every sushi meal and they no only have it, they even have a carpaccio version of it as well. It needed a bit more citrus to bring the flavor out as it was on the sweeter end. Sea Bream was also a favorite. Scallops were on the softer side for our liking but it wasn't bad. Our service staff was super friendly and patient with us. It's always nice to have subtle etiquette and patience when visiting a new establishment. As for seating, they have both indoor and outdoor seating options. It can get chilly in the evening, especially if you're sitting outside. Bring a jacket. Overall, experience was nice, food is good, service is nice... good all around. I would note that the bar seating has quite a bit going on with to go boxes on display. Glad they are getting great business flow, but perhaps put those elsewhere? Customers journey begins when they schedule a reservation until they walk out of your establishment. If you can improve that experience in any way, wouldn't you want to do so? Food for thought :) Great job team!

Just tried this place based on a recommendation from a friend and could not have been happier. It's Nobu quality but less expensive. We tried some thing from each section of the menu, and all of it was fabulous. Crispy rice w lobster, pressed sushi and wagyu roll were our faves. The ocean view is an added bonus! The fish was definitely fresh, the service was prompt, and there is a parking structure right under the restaurant. This will definitely become a regular for us. read more

Worst service. Very disappointing. Tried to make reservations on the phone but nobody called me back. I showed up at 6:00pm with 7 people. The restaurant was empty but the owner GEORGE came out and told me we could not be seated. They were apparently booked with an empty restaurant and another person there told me we could be seated but the chef could not handle more people. I honestly think they simply did not want a big party that had a few children. And honestly the sushi there is nothing more than mediocre. If you want REAL quality sushi, try Kizuna. read more

Been looking forward to trying this location since the beverly hills spot is so good. This spot has sweet ocean views from every window. They do a stellar job with classic nigiri and sashimi. Food is overall top notch. Make sure to try the seabutter handroll. read more

Overall was a great dining experience. Came and did two person omikaze style, chefs choice, 12 selections of fish. We were also treated to a baked mussel the first one I've tried. Seabutter is my go to sushi spot in Beverly Hills! I am excited to see they opened one in Laguna. I really enjoy the crispy rice with salmon. Some of my favorite rolls are Salmon Supreme, Crispy Albacore and a must try is the Pressed Sushi - Pressed Tail. For pieces I usually get salmon, red snapper and one or two of the various fishes they bring in daily. I round out my meal with a blue crab hand roll with avocado hold the rice. Hands down the best blue crab hand roll. Great patio and vibes. Highly recommend that you try this place, you won't be disappointed. Run don't walk! read more

Diverse menu with good quality and variety of sushi and prepared dishes. Staff are always on the move - hard working and friendly. Atmosphere is noisy, tables somewhat tight and the tab was a bit pricey, but it's worth a visit and far worse things in life then spending time dining in Laguna Beach. read more

5 stars for Matt! I called in to discuss gluten allergy protocols, and Matt was super knowledgeable about all of the gluten free options and how to do substitutes on preparation and sauces to make things gluten free. He also confirmed that the rice is gluten free certified which is a huge plus. It's rare to find servers that are so knowledgeable on this topic, and he made ordering takeout so easy for me! This place was honestly trash. After walking up and down hills to this 4.5 star place, I was genuinely disappointed. The menu didn't have many choices and the food was a 3/10 at best. The service was okay but the food took awhile to get to our table. It's expensive too, the price was not worth the food. The best part of this restaurant was the inside ambiance, the view was great with the sunset! Food was terrible, I was starving and wasn't even satisfied with the food I had ordered. This place used to be San Shin Go with awesome sushi, great service, and fair prices. It is now a totally different place with below average sushi, bad service, and expensive food. It used be packed and now it is empty. No wonder. We'll never go back. The Sushi chef had terrible manners. The only good thing was our waiters. Sushi is at best average. Stay away. read more

AWESOME sushi!! This restaurant is one of the best sushi restaurants I've been too and when you combine the location, the sunset view, and the service - It's pretty special. We had a party of 5 at 5:30 with a reservation and was seated immediately. The servers and staff are super friendly. We ordered 6 rolls, one of the presses, the lobster crispy rice, some nigiri toro, and 3 different desserts. Everything was spot on and delicious. I would give 10 STARS! read more

We were fortunate enough to dine here last night... and found out it was there 4th night of being open! Still in their soft opening stages and still waiting for their liquor license, the food and service absolutely amazing! This is their second location, the first is in Beverly Hills. Everything was outstanding. I would have given 5 stars but the prices were a bit high, even for Laguna. Beverly Hills up charge maybe lol? Smart move to make their way down south. Our meal was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. We had a large group (11 or 12), and they were able to accommodate us. The food was perfect, and the service was better. Every now and then, you run into a server that is worth their weight in gold. Adeline was without question one of the best servers I've ever had. She was knowledgeable, helpful, full of joy, and an overall pleasure. She made us feel welcome and like we were her only table, even though she was giving the same level of service to several other tables. I'll be back; and I'll ask for Adaline. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Five stars. read more

stumbled upon this cute place on my maps! don't judge the outside!! it is a little hidden gem with gorgeous sunset views. the food is delicious. we started with the miso soup (best i've ever had) and the garlic edamame! Me and my sister were visiting laguna beach and accidentally stumbled upon this place, we didn't have reservation but we got lucky and seated right away. The food was very delicious! Our server was very nice and guided us through the menu. We enjoyed it very much. If i lived in the area it would have been my go to sushi spot but sadly we don't. Will definitely come back next time i visit! Also there is a parking in the building and they validate it which is good cuz it's not easy to find parking in that area. read more

Took my mother-in-law here for her birthday and we all had such a great experience!…read more We got there around 4-4:15pm and had about a 20 minute wait, but we were able to find a high top table that we got to sit at and were able to order drinks from the bar, so that helped to pass our time. We got seated at our table at our table around 4:30p and had the most perfect view of the ocean! *we went on a Friday night and noticed the patio cleared out about 4:45-5pm and I didn't appear to have a lot of people waiting during that time. The main patio was covered with umbrellas, so once you are seated for dinner, there was plenty of umbrellas for shade and heaters for when it got a little cooler. For our food orders, and as recommended by our server, we went with their seafood options and ordered their Pacific Ceviche for an appetizer and for Entrees my husband got the Roasted Halibut and me and my mother-in-law both got the Scallop and Shrimp pasta. While waiting for dinner, the aroma of marijuana drifted across the dining area. (I know they can't control what happens outside their establishment.) the deck is roped off because apparently it's unsafe and could fall off at any moment in addition to the rotting floor. The food: The menu is underwhelming. I ordered the chicken with sun-dried tomato risotto and vegetables. The risotto was undercooked and flavorless, and the chicken was also lacking flavor. I sampled the New York steak with mashed potatoes--the steak was cooked well, but the potatoes were cold. We didn't even bother ordering dessert and went elsewhere instead.

It had a nice chew, which is what I was really missing in the other dish. The quail ragu was yummy, although we did find a bone but it was large enough to easily pick out and put to the side. Panna Cotta - 4.5/5 Thick and rich vanilla panna cotta with a tart berry compote. Very delicious!

As a result, we had to put our credit card on hold and spend a large part of our afternoon on the phone trying to resolve an issue that should never have been our responsibility. It's unfortunate because our anniversary dinner was otherwise a great experience. However, the lack of urgency and poor customer service in handling such a significant billing error overshadowed the evening. Because of how this situation was handled, we will not be returning.

We ordered food both for here and to-go, and everything was packed separately exactly how we asked. We also made a few modifications after placing the order, and Carlos went out of his way to track down our ticket and write the changes on it himself to make sure everything came out correctly. I ordered chips and guac as well and the staff forgot to include it in my order so I had to go up to the counter another time which was quite a hassle given it's a very busy restaurant with the line out the door the entire time I was there. The salsa selection is rather nice especially when most restaurants are trying to cut down on salsa options + use the lower quality ingredients. You can tell the ingredients in the salsas were high + they even have a few creamy options which is hard to see at most Mexican restaurants these days. I do think the guac was a little limey but it wasn't bad when you added it to the tacos. If you go I would recommend you go with zero expectations of eating inside as there are about 5-6 tables + waiting a long time for your food. The beach is 10 steps away so you can always take your food to the beach too!

Had to write a review in response to Sam A. I worked here a year and while I had my disagreements with management, I draw the line when he says the food isn't fantastic. Management also does everything she can to provide the best service even if I think she is a mean perfectionist lmao. Those are fighting words in my eyes since I know how much care goes into providing high quality fish by the sushi chefs. It's not their fault. I am to blame for the poor service since I quit recently and it's not the easiest role to replace quickly. I'm confident service will be great again soon, I would've offered to fill in on occasion but I don't think the owners cared for me much either way or even noticed I left lol. The ambiance is so great for a chill night in Laguna. I know you'll love it if you are reasonably patient and appreciate great flavors by the beach. The Hye, Salmon Truffle, Negi-toro, double t, sea bream, golden eye snapper, otoro, ytj and tuna explosion will have me coming back forever. I've only been gone a week and I am craving it already. The food is wonderful so if you're in the area please stop by! You won't be disappointed if you order anything I listed above or that your server recommends. Firstly, the culinary experience was outstanding and arguably ranks among the top two sushi meals I've ever had. However, my concerns revolve around the customer service aspect. I reserved a month in advance for my girlfriend's birthday, explicitly noting the occasion and expressing a preference for a window seat through the booking app. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table wedged between two others, despite my window seat request. When I raised the issue, the hostess explained they were reserving those tables for a larger party, yet throughout our 1.5-hour dinner, at least two window tables remained unoccupied. To make matters worse, twice a party of two were seated at those seats! The second letdown occurred when the waitress brought out the second roll. Despite our table being full with drinks and previous plates, she waited for us to make room instead of offering assistance. The final disappointment came when our waitress neglected to present the dessert menu or extend birthday wishes to my girlfriend. To add to the frustration, moments later, she offered the couple next to us a dessert menu. We were thrilled to learn that we could meander down the hill, in our local neighborhood, and be treated to the most awesome, delectable Sushi, Sashimi, Udon Soup, Exquisite Sake & More, served by expert, imaginative, creative and congenial Chefs, Staff & owners, George & Angie. Tuesdays and Fridays are our favorite nights to Belly Up to the Sushi Bar, promptly, when they open, so we can get our seats with a view of the Chefs In Action & before the crowds arrive. As soon as we became acquainted with Seabutter, we did a taste test comparison and visited famous sushi bar in Malibu, then a quaint Omakase restaurant in Laguna and then a Michelin Star Omakase restaurant in Montecito. Very sad to write this. The food was delicious. Our server on the other hand... troubling to say the least. We ate here and we're excited as this isn't our first time but our server this time was oblivious to us. She had blonde hair I believe when I asked another worker her name they said adyline or something about that. ( doesn't matter her name ) . She was consistently not checking up on us, when she did check up on us she was forgetting things we previously asked for, wasn't knowledgeable of the menu when we asked specific things either. Hopefully management trains servers better because the food is truly great!! We will try again! read more

A Cozy, High-Quality Sushi Experience! This small sushi joint is a true gem. We visited on a rainy Saturday, and the cozy, casual atmosphere instantly made us feel welcome and warm. The sushi rolls are fantastic, featuring incredibly thick-cut, fresh, and soft fish. The service was also impressively fast; our waiter warned that the hot dishes could take 20 minutes, but our sizzling black cod arrived almost simultaneously with our sushi! While the A5 Wagyu was a bit on the chewy side, the umami seasoning was outstanding. Overall, this was a great, highly recommended experience! read more

Great food. No issue there. I was there this weekend and our server was just frustrating. Blondie was Never around when we needed anything, I look over and she is just chatting with the hostess and other workers. Management should have a chat with their servers and remind them customers are main priority. I was able to flag down another server so i still get 4 stars, he was nice and fine. This Laguna Beach location is by far my favorite. Fantastic sushi, amazing vibes, sea breeze coming in from the windows; very soft background music, just loud enough to enjoy and have a conversation with a companion. Service is superb; and oh my God don't get me started on the food...it's fenomenal. I love my sushi Chef. Any time we're in the OC area; seabutter is a must hit spot for us for sushi. read more

I have visited seabutter in Beverly Hills several several times and it's one of my favorite sushi restaurants. now to find this gem in Laguna is amazing, the food is to die for, the Emma, 911 and so many others are so wonderful, you have to try every single one of them. I recommend this place 100% and the view of the ocean is absolutely beautiful along with the staff. read more
