    Monk seal swimming with us
    Nate G.

My wife and I had a fantastic time out to the Molokini crater. All of the staff was awesome. The size of the boat made it less likely that either of us experienced seasickness. We were able to see some whales in the distance, which was really cool. Once we arrived at the crater, we were able to swim with a monk seal, which was very playful. We enjoy exploring the creator and checking out all the cool fish. Since it was a smaller boat, we were able to also go to the backside of the crater and experience the elevator. This is when the water lifts and drops you near the crater. We could hear the sounds of whales underwater which was awesome. On the way back, we stopped at the turtle cleaning station and saw some beautiful turtles. Such a great excursion and at a reasonable price, we plan to return next time to Maui.

Incredible experience!! I'm a local to the island and it's always my first recommendation to friends, family, and anyone asking about exceptional activities to do on the island!! The size of the boat is ideal, making it easier to meet new people or just appreciate a less crowded experience! The crew is always the best, Captain Don has been doing this forever and always keeps you feeling safe and informed on the fish and boat-stops along with the crew!! Always leave with a smile and some new fish knowledge. 10/10!!

My son eating his warm cinnamon roll at Molikini .

The only crew that could get me to the back wall of Molikini with my son for our birthday. Clean, efficient, educational, and more turtles on one trip than any of the other 20x I've seen turtles. The ride is a blast and the energy is great.

    Maui's finest right here

The best tour on island by far and the safest. It don't break the bank and the amount of time you spend in the water rather than on the boat is perfect.

500% recommend Seafire Charters! If you enjoy being treated like VIPs and well taken care of, you need to choose Captain Don and his crew! *Best price and value in town* We've probably compared ~10 tours and their itineraries. Even though Seafire's total duration is 3 hours, we thought it was the perfect amount of time to be out in the water. Their prices were also half of other tours. They also didn't charge extra for equipment!!!! All snorkeling gear were free!! We stopped at 2 sides of the crater and a special location for turtle sighting!! *Most attentive staff* The crew treats you like close friends. Kelly, Krista, and Melissa made sure everyone is well taken care of on the boat. I got seasick on the trip, and they kept checking in on me and gave me every resource they have to help get me better. They also gave us an overview of all the fishes we saw, their special traits, etc. Cap. Don stopped when there were whale sightings to give us multiple opportunities to be amazed! Vicky was very thorough in the booking process! You could tell everyone loved their jobs and were absolutely so patient! Please choose Seafire!!

Nice small boat without the crowds

From the moment we stepped on the raft, the crew made safety and comfort a top priority--clear instructions, secure seating, and constant check-ins that made everyone feel confident and cared for. The early morning conditions were perfect we watched the full moon set and saw an amazing sunrise. There was calm water, cool air, fewer boats, and incredible whale activity. We saw multiple whales breaching, tail slapping and pectoral fin slapping all while feeling completely safe and well supported. The captain expertly adjusted speed and positioning to match the ocean conditions, which made a huge difference. This tour strikes the perfect balance between excitement and comfort. If you're in your wondering if a raft tour is too intense--don't hesitate. Redline Rafting delivers a thrilling experience without ever feeling rough or unsafe. Truly unforgettable and highly, highly recommend! Date of experience: February 2026

His crew mate was excellent at trying to find us a good snorkeling spot. We still had a wonderful time! Would recommend it to anyone.

We were swimming with SO. MANY. TURTLES. (Apparently if you go in the winter season, you'd see a lot of whales!)! I know there are other "turtle town spots around the island, and we've been to a "turtle town". But the sheer amount of turtles you will see here is unparalleled. Our guides Derek and Robbie were awesome: 1. They took so many photos of us - diving under waters to capture the turtles and us, took 200+ photos and 40 videos and was constantly in the water looking out for turtles. 2. They are also such great swimmers and made me feel at ease given that I'm fairly new to snorkeling. At some point I lost one of my fins and started panicking, but Derek swiftly recovered the lost fin! We also capsized at some point, but with Robbie's calm instructions, we quickly made it back to the kayak. Whew! 3. We also heard several interesting stories and facts about the history of the islands around. Overall, this is absolutely a can-not-miss tour in Maui and we can't wait to be back for the whale season!

We arrived at the center early and there is pay via app parking in the public lot and checked in for the morning brief before we boarded our boat, which was the Kai Ko, a sailing catamaran. Afterwards, the whole group walked down to the docks for boarding. The Kai Ko is a lot bigger than I expected, which was able to accommodate up to 130 people with seating for all on 3 decks. We sat at a bench with a table up forward, but you can sit on the covered upper deck under the sail boom behind the pilot house or on the lower deck with the snack bar. We had the best view forward, but it is exposed to the sun & sea spray. A couple of families sat in the cargo netting right above the waves. The Kai Ko does triple duty for whale watch excursions, as well as dinner cruises and snorkeling, so is equipped for all three trips. For whale watching, they only use the engine and do not raise the sails, which they do use for more relaxed dinner cruises. We motored out of the marina and out into Maalaea Bay and encountered a mother and baby Humpback whales almost immediately. Later we encountered another mother and calf that was also accompanied by an escort whale, which is rare. The mother showed her tail flukes on her last deep dive, which is used to identify the whale by their unique tail markings. You learn a lot of whale facts from the onboard guides. Later, one of the crew lowered a hydrophone in the water to record & broadcast Humpback whale songs over the ship's speakers, which was pretty cool. There were other whales that did full body breaches out of the water, but we were really far away. The whole whale watch cruise is 2 hours and returns you back to the docks exactly on the hour. It was an exciting excursion and we got back in time for lunch.

Our first trip…read moreout was an adults-only family excursion while the kids hung out with their grandma and auntie. The catamaran was pretty sweet, with some really comfy bean bags overlooking the edge out to the ocean. While we did occasionally get splashed in this area, it was worth the unobstructed view of the sunset and the breeze in my hair. The crew was especially sweet and treated all of us like absolute royalty. A note to those who are prone to motion sickness: do not try to be brave and only wear sea bands thinking you'll be okay. Take your Dramamine an hour before you board the catamaran. While the first half of our dinner cruise was fine with my motion sickness, the second half of the trip left me feeling really queasy around dinner service time. This made me very sad. This was no fault of the crew, and 100% my fault for thinking I could tough it out. If you are ill-prepared, the crew has ginger ale, club soda and ginger chews to help. Speaking of dinner, the few bites I was able to eat on our first trip were fantastic: a full dinner buffet prepared by Cafe Jai. The salmon was perfectly tender, as was the short rib. The caesar salad was just the right amount of tangy (and the extra dressing was really great on the salmon as well.) I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on the crispy seasoned potatoes but they were absolutely delightful. And of course, the crown on top of a delicious meal was the mini brownie cup we were served for dessert before we wrapped up the trip. Our second trip (where I was prepared with some Dramamine) was a memorial for our grandparents, where we released their cremains at sea with eco-urns. I must say that the crew handled everything wonderfully. We had the full bar, another beautiful buffet spread including some delicious crispy chicken, a pesto pasta salad, pulled beef sliders, and rolls. After we said our emotional goodbyes, we were given rose petals to release into the ocean. We even received certificates after the trip that gave us the coordinates of where my grandparents cremains were released. I seriously cannot thank Sea Maui enough for giving my family a truly memorable experience on our trip to Maui. They made our trip so special. A million thanks for the kindness!

We saw many, many whales and at least 12 displays of whales big and small leaping out of the water. The hour long snorkeling provided the passengers with a myriad of tropical fish and sea turtles. We even had one try to climb the ladder into the boat. The fees for the excursion were fair and we definitely got our moneys worth for all we saw and participated in.
