Despite how messy the food can get, the restaurant remains clean. I was blown away by the taste of the shrimp. The crawfish, not so much, but that's due to personal taste. We are big fans of The Boiling Crab but it is far from our home. This place is just a few miles from us so we thought we'd give it a try. We liked it! Not the Boiling Crab, nevertheless it is pretty tasty. Found that mussels and clam's could have been washed a little better., a little Sandy at times. Do the mixed all seasoning spicy. Gumbo was just ok, fried catfish was flakey, but the crust seemed kinda chewy...but it was good. 2 of us, 1 lb shrimp, 1 lb mussel, 1lb clam, cup of gumbo, basket fried catfish... $62 including tip. This 1 star review does NOT do any justice to my experience yesterday afternoon with my friend!!! This place is a little more popular than the other crawfish restaurants around, and its usually one i frequently come to especially when i'm At work. Yesterday, however; was by far one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had in a restaurant EVER My coworker and I were there on our lunch break, and although we are limited on time we understand how long it takes to get in, order, get out all in fashionable time without being "those type of customers" because we're on break. We were served by a gal named Lexi who NEEDS TO BE FIRED and retrained in common hospitality ethics or just find a new job / career path! You dont always need to have a bright smile on your face, but being a waitress you can make a little bit more of an effort to make it seem like you either are having a good day at work or not look like a total bitch. Not only was our order taken wrong, she had the audacity to tell us what we did order and what we didn't order. Even her coworker on the floor saw what inconvenience we experienced because she took our order wrong and wanted us to eat the food we ordered for to go only, for dine in at that time. Mind you in this entire experience while we're waiting for our food (the proper dishes we wanted to dine in with) and clarifying what is to go, my friend is STILL waiting for her beverage! Arguably I understand it may have been busy for just 2 gals, she never got her beverage!! That's not all.... my friend decided to tip the waitress 0, although we dont take pleasure in doing that, we felt that with no sincere apology or accomodation/understanding/accountability it was deserved. Now this woman had the NERVE to say out loud "Wooooow?... pft" I'm sorry honey if you're depending on tips, learn some better etiquette and serve in a restaurant like Yard House or cheesecake where you can make a career, but its clear you dont possess the common practices to last in a place with standards like that. I later on call to see if I can speak with an owner. It seems that Lexi answered the phone, because I can clearly recognize her voice/attitude. She proceeds to say the owner isn't on premise, so I ask for a manager. She asks why? Why do you need to talk to one? I say its not to your concern but I need to speak to someone obviously in charge! She seems to put me on "hold" but the dumb broad either didn't press hold, or thought II wouldnt be able to hear her? She says "there's this bitch on the phone asking a bunch of questions..blah..blah..blah..." After a few words she apparently noticed I CAN HEAR EVERY WORD YOU'RE SAYING STUPID ASS! She says "oh shit!!!" And then hangs up on me. I've never felt so insulted in my whole life from a "service professional" I dont try to judge people who work at small hole in the wall joints like this, especially because my boyfriend works in fine dining/celebrity acclaimed places but as long as this woman is employed here my friend, / co workers across the street will NEVER return here. Not only she needs so be re trained, and terminated, she needs be shown some manners if you know what i mean. To leadership: I hope you see this and it serves you well. We saw a cockroach! Went there for dinner. Been there before and services was ok. Decided to give it another shot. This time the waitress got our order wrong and added more corn and sausage totaling an extra $20! Upon eating, I see this bug crawling on the seat behind my sons- they killed it with a napkin.. look at it and it was a baby cockroach!! Informed the waiter who I see telling the manager who just stood behind the Register! Bill came .. went to pay for it.. and the manager did not acknowledge that there was a roach in our booth area, instead said "thank you miss". What are you thankful for?? Needless to say, I left unhappy and not going back. The manager didn't address the concern that there was a cockroach running around the booth. the manager didn't even bother to come and say sorry in regards to the roach. YAY, Riverside finally has a seafood joint! It is so much more convenient than driving out to LA or SD for some good seafood eats. I dined in on a Saturday night and did not have to wait to be seated. The restaurant is clean and staff is super friendly. My friend and I ordered mussels, shrimp, and crawfish with the All in one seasoning and a side of chicken wings. The food was great and nothing was over cooked. I highly recommend the All in one seasoning, it has a nice kick to it ( even at the mild level) and it serves as a yummy dipping sauce for your french fries! I ordered 2 lbs of king crab legs (all seasoning), catfish plate, and the red snapper plate. King crab legs did not taste good at all, you constantly have to dip the meat in the seasoning sauce just to get the flavor, the seasoning tasted weird (like eating a whole bowl of pepper and no salt or heat in the seasoning. It was very bland to be honest. The catfish smelled like it was spoiled and when we ate it, it tasted rubbery and flaky. The spoiled smell was overwhelming. So we stopped eating it because we were scared that we might get sick or food poisoned. We did eat the red snapper plate and it was ok. The seasoning needed more flavors and the cajun fries that came with it needed more time in the heat/oil. I would not recommend this place.
