Just moved to Key West (Meadows), and haven't set up the house yet. Stopped by to get Sushi Take out after picking up some groceries nearby. Had three different rolls (rainbow, California eel, salmon/avocado) all were very good and much better prices then in the tourist area. Will be back. read more

This is my favorite sushi restaurant on the Keys. I have been here many times. Chef knocks it out of the park every time. I have not had anything that I did not care for on the menu. I have not had any of the Thai food yet, so I cannot comment on that. The only reason this is not a five star review is because the service is pretty spotty. many times the servers seem lost and unfamiliar with the menu. It is hard to find people that want to show up to work anymore. So we work with what we've got. I would rather have this chef and serve myself if I had to than fantastic service and a lesser Chef!! However my children brought McDonald's and they were totally cool with it. The server even went to the supermarket next door and bought ketchup just for my kids McDonalds. a pretty small area that gives off homey vibes, that also does takeout orders but seems like there might be too much to accommodate. we had a party of eight & they happily combined two four seat tables for us, & there was an even larger party already behind us & a few other two- & four-table customers. we were given time for our order, a bit longer as there were a lot of takeout orders, pickups, & other customers to get to as well. after our orders were taken, which took both front & back pages, we waited & slowly our food began to come out after 15 minutes or so. there were two sashimi appetizers, however, one of our party members thought theirs had no salmon, which after looking at the picture they had taken beforehand they realized there was but somehow forgotten who had eaten it. this lead to a whole discussion between the waiter & sushi chef, who was not shy to announce to the whole restaurant that he was somewhat peeved at this mistake & had seemed to hold it to heart even after we had apologized for a misunderstanding. most of us had received our dishes, which the pad see ew was very tasteful & largely portioned! everything was well presented & the flavors were really good! however, we were still waiting on one more sushi order, which was on the second page of our order list. it was totally fine if it was forgotten, we would've just gotten the bill for what we had eaten already. however, the chef was again pretty loud in regard to telling the waiter his mistake but we told them it was alright & that he doesn't need to make it anymore. it did take them a bit to get our bill, which at first still had the two sushi that was supposed to be taken off but was easily fixed & taken care of. overall, i really enjoyed the food, however, it was spoiled due to the commotion. i don't ever want to judge a restaurant as a whole just based off of one experience & want to take into consideration of what they might be going through so it was still great in terms of food & friendliness! read more

This was the first night we arrived at Key West and first meal for dinner. The foods were ok but this review was for the ridiculous "suggested tips" from our waiter. We ordered 5 dishes and when I asked for the bill, he provided without saying anything. After reviewing it, I saw the 18% suggested tip on there so I asked him about it. I informed him that this was my first time in Key West so was the tip a requirements in this area and he responded yes for all restaurants here. This caught me by surprised so I asked more details of why. After a few run around answers, he eventually said it was an option and asked if I want to take it off the bill. Of course I said yes. There were only 3 of us dining here so the 18% tips is not a requirement as far as I know in all my years eating out. This is quite ridiculous because tips is based on services provided. He didn't do much other than bringing out the 5 dishes that we ordered and water and yet he didn't even informed me that he put that 18% on there. He ruined the first night here for us. We ordered take out. First of all, the online menu seems to not be what they have at the restaurant, the person responding the phone couldn't locate half of what we were ordering. So we changed our order to what she could find. They said 30-40 minutes wait, which is fine for a busy area, but then gave us only part of our order. We called back and she wasn't even slightly apologetic, just said "yeah, it's here, we didn't put in your bag". As for the food- neither the pad Thai nor the roasted duck curry were edible. The duck was stale, like that meat had been cooked and kept for weeks. It went directly to trash. The noodles with chicken and vegetable were ok. Nothing crazy but probably cooked fresh. read more

On our last day in Key West we went here and it was great. The sushi was super good and we tried conch for the first time. It was a bit of a late dinner but the restaurant was very empty. Our waiter was very nice and the sushi chef got our rolls done very quickly. The lighting was a little harsh and it was dead silent unless we were talking. Small little establishment within a shopping plaza. It wasn't busy when we went for lunch, service was attentive and quick. The food was simply amazing. Some of the tastiest Thai food I've had. We ordered 2 lunch specials, the pad thai (beef) and Red Thai chicken curry. Both dishes were packed with flavour, aromatic, and tantalize our taste buds. For dessert, we enjoyed the fried banana and ice cream. The banana was coated in a light and crispy tempura. Oh, and the Thai iced coffee hit the spot. It too was strong & flavorful, almost as good as I've had in Thailand. Rated a much deserved 5 stars for a happy taste bud experience. Keep Driving...I feel so ripped off. What I witnessed while I was ordering takeout should have been a warning. An older man, whobwhen installed in was on his cellphone, making a roll with no gloves. When he saw me looking, I saw him rinse his hands and then reach into the fridge to grab a piece of raw fish I believe, again bare hands. Ironically, when I returned he was wearing glove while making another roll. Now...my food...crab Rangoon..not enough cream cheese. Sauted veggies....ordered with pork but delivered with that same unidentifiable white meat that is passed off as chicken. Tasted like it was Sauted in old oil. And the chicken wings looked old/freezer burned and had the taste of old oil as well. No standards...don't go here. read more

Key West needs great sushi place. Not just Key West in general, but New Town specifically. I so badly wanted this to be that place. It is not that place. I have been here six times since it opened, and the sushi and sashimi is just .... not that great. I have either ordered, or sampled, the sushi/sashimi all six times, and only once would I consider it great. That, right there, is a bad sign. A lack of consistency. The other bad sign is that, in all honesty, I've had sashimi here that just wasn't good. I have enjoyed their curries, and I would stick to that. It's not authentic, but it's good (usually). I would give it three stars, but the variability is so great that I have to knock it two stars; if you can't trust a place to give you a good meal, then you can't give it three stars. I really want this place to be good, but it just isn't. read more

I'm a huge fan of their Seaweed Salad. Seriously I could eat this every day for every meal. The lunch Thai Curry with veggies or tofu is my go to option though the sushi is also fantastic. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff, attentive service. Prices are a bit high for lunch, but it's key west so that's the norm. read more
