A fabulous retro hotel. I really enjoyed my time here I had a window overlooking the garden, and everything was bright and cheerful not like these dark wooden particleboard headboards they put in it was actually something from a blaspheme in the past and it made it cheerful and wonderful. I would love to stay here again. I paid 850 cash a week and no deposit in two dogs. I wanna stay here until I cannot. Hotels front page and yelp page advertised clearly promoting a pool for the common use! Heavily advertised. They had 5-7 hours to let us know prior to our check in that pool is closed. They refused to refund me and refused to check me and my family in or offer one once of any sort of accommodations for the booking. They refused to provide any written receipt to our booking agency hotel.com or Travelocity that they would refund money. At midnight my Mom learned CC was charged anyway. THe front staff guy named ISH has the worse customer service attitude and a bad F-U I hate my job and I don't care about customer service. Stay clear!!!! A renovated Howard Johnson style motor hotel a short ride away from Hermosa Beach. Inexpensive, convenient, and clean. After booking they reach out via SMS for special requests, etc. As I was flying just after dawn I requested early check-in and was in my room by 8:00 a.m.! The staff are friendly and good humored: who knew the bedside lights and plugs would be controlled by a switch by the door? They did! Perfect for a car-centric exploration of the area, and an inexpensive ride from Hermosa Beach, this satisfies all the basic needs. read more

I booked this while in New York City with no idea of the surrounding area. All I knew is most of all the other hotels are twice the price of this place. Upon arriving it's dated, but it is under construction being remodeled. The front counter guy was super nice and handed me an old fashion key, which I totally laughed about. Getting to the room if you're disabled is a challenge because there are steps but there's not too many even for the first floor and the room is clean again it is dated but it's spacious and everything works good. With the exception of the light socket behind the headboard, I had to reroute two other sockets. Bottom line is I would probably stay here again for a budget short stay . read more

We booked a last minute stay to escape our neighborhood's warzone-like fireworks on the 4th of July. We are glad they had some rooms at 11PM, as soon as we arrived we were quickly checked in and shown to a very nicely upgraded room. They have completely remodeled some of the rooms and will do the whole hotel soon. It was definitely a good value as it was all very clean, great aesthetics, and included a little kitchenette, not that we needed it. I would only recommend a little nicer pillows & sheets, and then it would be perfect. We had to work in the morning, so we didn't use it, but the pool looked great and was even an 8 foot deep pool which seems rare for hotels these days. Great location and amenities for the price. read more

The motel is right next to the main road so you can't miss it and there is also a Taco bell and mexican restaurant close by. Rooms are simply furnished with a 28 inch Flat screen TV, refrigerator, wooden desk, cushioned wooden seats, telephone, AC unit, Clothing rack, Ironing board and iron. The drawbacks of staying here are there is no microwave and coffee maker in the room. WiFi connection is poor, no digital room keys but rather traditional key. read more

I have stayed at the Seahorse many times over the years, for both work and pleasure. It's a fantastic property. Certainly nothing fancy, but it's always clean and comfortable. The rooms have everything you need: comfy beds, TV, microwave and mini fridge. The soap and shampoo they provide run a bit on the utilitarian side, so bring your own products if that might be an issue for you. They have a small pool, typically occupied by families and kids. The location is great, easy access to LAX, downtown Manhattan Beach, and other beach cities. My only suggestion for the owners would be to upgrade the wifi. It's fairly weak and spotty, don't think a Zoom call would even be possible. Enjoy your stay! read more

My go-to spot whenever staying in the South Bay. Stayed here four times. Quiet, clean rooms feat. full-size fridge and microwave, super comfortable king-size bed, luxe slate shower with good water pressure and temperature, an ac that cranks the cold/white noise, and total blackout blinds (with surfer print - fun!). Safe parking lot (I say this a woman traveling solo). Super cute, vintage-tiled pool area with plenty of seating. Seahorse is conveniently located near a Target, Trader Joe's, and of course the beach. I always upgrade to a newly remodeled room for like $40+. Minority-owned small business - owners Minnie and Ish are the hardest workers with the biggest hearts. Thank you both and can't wait to stay with yall again! read more

My go-to stay in the LAX area (About a 20-minute drive with traffic). The pros: -Rooms are decently priced and I think family-owned? -Clean as a whistle -Pool -Right off the main drag -Mexican place next door that has great food. This place feels like a 1950's roadside motel, but without the dilapidated crap that so many other motels of this age have. It definitely feels like a relic from the past, but it is maintained pretty good at least every room I've been in. The only con I shall warn my fellow Yelpers of is the PARKING. If you drive a pickup truck, I'd say the max length is maybe 18' considering my half ton actually stuck out of its parking spot. read more

Been here twice in the last few years The first con that needs addressing; if you drive anything bigger than a For Two, don't stay here. Spaces are tighter than...eh, insert witty joke here. No, seriously. I whip my truck around like a Go Kart up north. I have put that truck in places most people wouldn't dare go on a quad. Even I had problems wedging into this place. Add the random poor Asian dude who's knee fell victim to my trailer hitch when I parked next to the restaurant on site. The awesome pros; Clean rooms. Basic. Definitely have a roadside hooker vibe. But no riff raff from what I saw. Smoking rooms galore. Physical room keys. No magnetic card to demagnetize. Easy in and out, depending on the hour of day. Tucked away from major freeways, but still decently easy to access. Mexican restaurant on site is amazing. Food was good. Minimal bowel issues and flatuence for the amount of beans I ate. 10/10 little roadside motel. Will be back. Not in my truck though. read more

We had a great stay here. We were in a renovated room that was very nice and made our stay even more comfortable for the week. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff was also great and very helpful. It's evident that Seahorse Inn care about their customer's stay. It's a 15 min walk to Manhattan beach. The pool is heated and lovely to use. The only thing we would suggest is to give a key to the pool to each guest. We would stay here again! Thank you! read more

I deal with a lot of stalking and harassment - jealously because of industry politics in Los Angeles and race baiting because of my non profit work. This hotel participated in that effort by giving someone a key to take my key out of my room while I was bathing. We "worked it out" and the key was ultimately returned after I wasted about an half an hour trying to find it. read more

Dont have alot of bad things to say about the Seahorse Inn, just consider you get what you pay for and here you don't pay much. The Inn was very clean and maintained in general and the staff was very gracious and helpful, we enjoyed the close proximity to the beach which added to the value. As far as the room goes, it was large with a king size bed and roomy restroom, nice TV with great selection of cable channels and WiFi was available. Specific concerns and suggestions for improvement to the ownership would be to remove the carpets as it seemed it could be harboring mold, also our restroom door would not close completely , also the bed was very hard and made for a very rough nights sleep. Enjoyed the Sions mexican restaurant in the parking lot and the pool looked very nice although we didnt utilze it because of the weather. I would recommend the Seahorse Inn as its a great value in a very nice spot, if they made the changes above I would gladly revisit with a 5 star rating. read more

Leaving a positive review is the least I can do after receiving such wonderful customer service during a thoroughly enjoyable stay! My wife and I were in a bind since our morning plans for the beach didn't pan out and our baby was getting fussy. I asked for an early check in and the gentleman happily accommodated! I wasn't expecting anything like that since we were a few hour away from check it, but it was a pleasant surprise. The room is much bigger than shown (there is more than enough room for a crib). It was very clean and the staff (family owned motel) were professional and courteous throughout. Wonderful hotel in Manhattan Beach! Well appointed and a great value. Rooms are extremely clean! I could see the Hollywood sign from my room! 9 minutes to LAX, the Uber was only 14 dollars! Very close to the pier and the restaurants/bars at the beach. Very courteous staff, and comfortable beds! The restaurant in the parking lot is fantastic, and has a great atmosphere. The parking lot is easy to park in, and the parking is free! Lots of great places to get coffee, food, and groceries within walking distance. Short drive to the cruise terminal too! I highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

Good Points: Cheap and Clean Location is OK. It is not close enough to the beach or the downtown shopping and restaurants to easily walk, and trying to find parking by the pier or downtown is not fun. It is on a busy street and there is traffic at all times of the day. The noise is not entirely drowned out by the room walls, but if you need the air conditioner on, the noise of the air conditioner will cover the traffic noise. No in room coffee maker, no coffee available at the reception area. This is not horrible. There is a coffee place across the busy street and other coffee places not too far away. The reasons for a 2 star review and why I will pick somewhere else to stay in the future: No in room microwave, and none available at reception. We are tea drinkers and a microwave is essential for heating the water. Water from in room coffee makers (not available here anyway) tastes like coffee, so we do not make tea with them. I also do a nose rinse daily and need to boil water before using it. Free Wifi was intermittent and slow. Often when I logged in my device showed "Connected No Internet". Being connected without access to the internet does me no good. When I did get connected, the connection would fail frequently. When it wasn't failing, it was very slow. read more

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of September - it was a great location, close to many restaurants and a sports bar just across the street. The motel was very clean and the staff were very helpful. It was nice to come back to soak in the well-maintained pool after a busy day out and about. The room itself is clean and simple with a mini fridge and large tv. The price was great with free parking included. Will definitely look at this place again when in LA. read more

I am EXTREMELY furious with what happened today. I booked this "pet friendly" hotel according to Priceline a few weeks ago. When I checked in, the front desk said no dogs are allowed. I showed him the Priceline ad for this hotel which specifically indicates Pet Allowed. But he said no according to Booking.com it is not and they are not affiliated with Priceline. Then he called his manager GABY who threatened to call the police if I stay at her hotel. It was NEVER my mistake the first place because either Priceline or your hotel feeds Priceline the incorrect information. Then for me, an out of state innocent customer who relied on the online info and booked this reservation. Instead of apologizing and trying to work with me, she got very offended and threatened to call the police. I was so angry but helpless with my sweet girl. Thankfully when I called Priceline, they were able to help me find another REAL pet friendly hotel nearby and MIGHT be willing to reimburse me for the extra expenses for the new hotel (they still need to investigate whose fault it is then decides later). But the assistant manager GABY at this freaking Seahorse Inn is nothing but a ridiculous joke. I felt very humiliated by the fact that she threatened to call the police but at that moment there's nothing I could do but leave. After all I did not make any mistake for this mess but then I had to waste a couple hours and go through this headache. As a dog owner, this is probably the worst thing that could ever happen when you are on a trip. read more

OMG this place MADE my trip! Stayed all 9 nights! (Cancelled reservations all over Manhattan and Hermosa as soon as I was able to see for myself THE REVIEWS ARE TRUE!) Definitely not, NOT-- going to impress the ladies (my discerning ex-gf was truly horrified to see it, but she's a minimum 4-star, Four Seasons kinda girl--explains why the "ex" part!!). If you're not trying to wow the pants off anyone and you hate wasting money on expensive crappy hotels, or getting straight-up LEGALLY MUGGED at the OUTRAGEOUS slightly-not-as-crappy hotels, you are MALE, no wife/girlfriend and not travelling with children or anyone/anything else you might worry about, this is the place for you. read more

4.5 star because it is what it is. Simple, Clean, very nice owners / staff, a clean pool. Walking distance to all food types and $ levels. Even a Baskins Robbins. My King bed room has a fridg, bathtub, good hvac unit - but I only need it because of the heat wave. Fantastic Mex / American coffee shop on same property. No I can't see the ocean, but I can see the mountains from my room - and I can walk to the beach (about 1 mile). I paid less than $100 per night on Fri & Sat in June 2013. Oh, and free parking is nice too. About 6 miles or 15 min from LAX. And you can walk around safely day or night. Quiet rooms. Only consistent issue: pillows need replacement. read more

I stay at the Seahorse when I'm only in Los Angeles for a few days. It is definitely what an Inn consists of in my mind, something between a hotel and motel. Nothing fancy about the place but it has everything you need for a short stay. I'm not much of swimmer personally but the there is a pool which always appears clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I drive a full size crew cab pickup truck and never have an issue parking there. There's also free WiFi which works well. I don't know of any other hotel/inn/motel in Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach that you can stay for the price. read more

I stayed here for three nights with my husband. This motel is very affordable, especially by Manhattan Beach standards. This place had friendly staff, a very clean room, and a pristine pool. Only a 20 minute walk to the beach and a happy, friendly vibe. Would definitely stay here again. read more

Really disappointed with the night staff. I had booked in a 3 bed room for myself and my dive students. I hopped in the shower while they were studying and noticed a couple roaches. I hopped out and called the manager. The first thing he said was he didn't believe me.I was dumbfounded. I wasn't asking for a refund but another room that was bug free. Which I eventually got. The second room was bug free and decent which is why there I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. The guy was completely rude and out of line. Then as a topper, I had asked to be able to park my car in front of the office which he said was cool. After I complained, he had me move it. I had a ton of scuba gear in there. Only available parking was in a darker area of the lot. I stay in Redondo/Manhattan Beach area about 4 times a months and I promise we won't be back. read more

We came in Valentines Day eve as our room at Ayres Hotel in West Corona mistakenly was given away. Tony worked with us as one room was unclaimed and got us in last minute very clean room and on a night where there were no other rooms in the south bay area available, it was a real find Thank you Tony!!!
