This hotel is a short walking distance to hermosa beach. It feels safe because they have CCTV cameras in the hallways and lobby. In addition the front doors are locked at night and can only be opened by using your keycard or buzzing the front desk using the intercom. There is an Italian restaurant nearby as well several other restaurants within the area! The front desk is courteous and accommodating as they let me check in after midnight and also waived the $200 deposit required at check in. Hotel amenities here include: Elevator, baggage cart, 24 hour front desk, Outdoor wet bar and an ice machine as well guest lounge area on the second floor! 9/9-10/2023: Grandview Inn Suite's accommodations is close proximity to beach, restaurants, and services; the Suite was quiet, relaxing, and afforded stress-free parking especially, possessing a CA Disabled Placard. Furthermore, I like boutique accommodations such as the Grandview Inn rather than humungous, impersonal, corporate, hotel accommodations which is the primary reason choosing the Grandview Inn. Surely, staying at the Grandview was worth the expense due to the fact, the Grandview was twenty minutes away from attending my Nephew's wedding located at La Venta in Palos Verdes CA. Also, a wonderful hair salon is next door while a brewery and restaurant are just mere steps away from the Grandview Inn. Anyway, upon returning from my Nephew's wedding, I brought a couple of wedding bouquet flower arrangements to Grandview Inn's Management which the Management were elated receiving! Overall, should I need visiting the "OC," I will definitely stay at the Grandview Inn: "I'll be BAAAAACK," as Arnold Schwarzenegger has stated countless times~LOL! read more

We loved this place. Over the last 25 years, we've stayed in many LA hotels. But this was by far our favorite. First thing, location. You are right on the beach. And just one block from all the restaurants and shops. The hotel is kept very clean. And the room came with complimentary tooth brushes, razors, tooth paste, shampoo, makeup remover, hair dryer, ironing board, in room safe. Shower was great. Really good water pressure. Beds were super comfortable, and room was very quiet at night. And free parking. And the price. Obviously staying on the beach is pricey. But the hotel right next door was twice the price. I definitely recommend this hotel. And this will be my LA place to stay in the future. And one more thing. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful stay! read more

Room 249 - great view. Stretchy carpet, it's damp and sticky. The hotel staff will give you towels to remedy this. That it! So yeah! Nice staff, dirty hotel with no way to compensate guests who thought they paid for a dry carpet! I found this hotel last minute and because of the awesome location of Grandview I canceled the reservation i had somewhere else. I am so glad i made this choice! The room was very spacious, offering a refrigerator and microwave. The little touches like providing bottles of water, Q tips and toothbrushes made a huge difference as well. The room itself was unsullied in cleanliness and the bed was surely comfortable. The patio is peaceful at night if you care to sit out on it. The TV was huge with DirectTV, but i never really watched it to be honest. The Location of this hotel is pure gold. Steps from the beach, not a mile. It is at a fraction of the cost of it's neighbor and offers free parking for (1) vehicle in the garage. Amish, the owner is super kind! The location is unbeatable and adequate if you are on a budget.. Parking is only for one car though and they charge an extra $50 for additional and doesn't leave any space for additional guests so this was no more than one night for us. The bed was very squeaky . My sister and I were very happy with our overnight stay at The Grandview Inn in Hermosa Beach, while visiting my daughter and grandkids! The beds were so comfortable, the room was extremely clean/quiet and supplied with so many various "grooming" items - such a nice added surprise! Every person we communicated with at the Inn was absolutely the friendliest and most accommodating! It is located in the heart of Hermosa Beach, just a block from the beach and easily strolled down to the pier area with wonderful open air and outdoor seating restaurants and shops! Very basic. Room isn't very "cozy" bed was alright comfort-wise. Parking in garage underneath but fills up. The elevator is scary and the cleaning product smell throughout the first floor is so strong... I think they are using concentrated cleaner and forgot to dilute it. It's in a good location for walking to shops and restaurants. If you want to drive then plan on 30 mins to go only a few miles.. literally. The view from the balcony was better than I thought I'd get for the price. There is not much privacy between balconies or even surrounding homes. I could see into the neighbors home. The location of this hotel was awesome literally a 100 yds from the beach and strand. Half a block to Starbucks and a lot of bars and eateries nearby within walking distance The staff was kind of stoic with a sign that said no masks no service , although the gentleman who let us in when we forgot our key was quite pleasant. The carpeted stairs up to the lobby were filthy and smelled like urine but thankfully the room was not all that bad. The room was not as pristine as it was presented on the website. The footstools at the edge of the bed are frayed and worn out and have seriously outlived their useful life. Its Better to have no furniture at all than in that condition. We had an interior room instead of beach front because they were sold out for a total of $239.. I would have just as soon stay in a Super 8. The room looked out onto a neighbor's roof and we could step right out onto it if we had a mind. There was a patio with plastic chairs and the air conditioning worked fine. There were 2 towels for 3 people. The linens on the bed were clean. If you arent going to spend a whole lot of time in the room it was just fine. Just be aware if you're bringing 2 cars they only allow one and will make you pay $35 if you even breathe a word someone is joining you.. There is pay parking on the street read more

We went this past Saturday and I can't say enough about this place. We were greeted by Neil (sorry if spelling is incorrect) and he was very welcoming and nice and sincere. We checked in and it was organized and fast, we were pre-hurricane and Neil was nice enough to ask if we needed anything and if so to contact them also that if the hurricane should hit and we need to be evacuated he would contact us. The room was beautiful with ocean view. Very clean, had great amenities, tooth paste and tooth brush and fridge and coffee maker was a big hit. We have already talked about going back. read more

Last minute booking. It's all about location for us. Our room was clean, spacious and had all the necessities needed, soap, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, shave cream, shower cap, we were set for a 1 night stay. Easy check in and out. I was scheduled to visit Hermosa Beach this September and was so excited to be staying at the Grandview Inn. I grew up in Hermosa Beach but neither my sister or I had visited there in over 25 years. To say we were excited about the trip was an understatement! I unfortunately was involved in a serious car accident just three days before I was scheduled to drive to Hermosa Beach. While in the hospital awaiting surgery, I called the Grandview Inn in a very emotional state. The gentleman I spoke with (Asid?) was so kind and considerate about my circumstances. I found myself in Los Angeles working for a week I didn't want to stay near LAX. I wanted to see the beauty of the beach and be able to explore LA. I have historically stayed at larger hotels in the past. You know it's important to earn points. Upon checking in I was greeted by the owner. I had arrived several hours early to check in. He made my check in extremely easy. He took my bags and had them in my room once I came back from my meeting. When I walked in to the room I was beside myself The minute you walk in you feel safe. They have numerous cameras in the garage and outside the building. The fresh clean smell of the hotel was pleasant and not overwhelming. The room was like something you would expected at a five star hotel in New York. I was and still am extremely impressed with the hotel. Your seconds from the beach, fine dining, shopping and entertainment. My room was large and had everything I needed and more. The view to the beach are amazing! The price was extremely affordable. I'm still kinda stoked because I have paid more in the past for so much less. After staying here I am a firm believer of supporting a small businesses and forget about points. Trust me you will not be disappointed when booking your room. The next time I leave the mountains of East Tennessee for California , I'll only stay at the Grandview Inn. The front desk staff, who I assume might also be the owners, are a hoot. They are very kind, fun, accommodating and helpful. My husband always comes with a million questions and called them three times before we booked our stay with questions. They never got annoyed and were happy to answer all his questions. The room almost looks more like an apartment studio which was super cool. Very clean and COVID safe. It's right next to the beach and you can easily see the ocean if you get a top floor room. All rooms have a balcony as well. The parking garage is convenient and safe if you're driving. We will be staying here again when we come back to Cali. read more

1) The Reservation: Called to make reservation after reading the Yelp reviews for the last 6 months. Spoke to Krishan on the phone who was very funny, helpful and accommodating. 2) Checking in: We got in a little late (around 8pm) Krishan was there to check us in, helped us with luggage/luggage rack, it was an efficient process, just as when I called for the reservations 3) Our stay: We stayed at GVI toward the end of our Spring Break (4 days/end of March 2019), each day there were no issues, our room was clean, everyone employed there was helpful, non-invasive and friendly. Our double-queen room with partial view was exactly what we expected, a fair amount of amenities, comfortable, clean & quiet. Our patio was HUGE and we took full advantage of it. 4) Our check out: Our flight was not until 8pm out of SNA, Krishan made sure our luggage was kept safe while we spend the last day enjoying the weather and touring around town. The check-out process was effortless! 5) Above and Beyond: On the last day we bought about $300+ worth of souvenirs which we LEFT BEHIND IN A GIFT BAG AT THE HOTEL. We realized our mistake after our driver was about 20 minutes out of Hermosa. I called Krishan immediately asking if MAYBE someone was honest and turned in our gift bag... HE RETRIEVED IT and it was waiting for us at the front desk. 6) Full disclosure, The GVI was not first on our list of accommodations in Hermosa, we chose it based on the LOCATION and my initial customer experience when making my reservation! Grandview Inn hotel was literally steps away from the beach. It's location is excellent as it's near many restaurants, shops and convenience stores. Parking was in the basement structure of the hotel itself. However, the parking spaces I counted was only about 8-10. We were lucky enough to get a spot when we arrived but I'm not sure where one would park if it's full. Reception was very friendly. Shout out to Zubith - whose smile and conversation made us feel welcomed. Hallway was clean. Room itself was truly spacious for a beach hotel. It was clean and smelled good. There was a coffee maker station with a microwave, fridge and a small sink area. Bathroom was clean and fully equipped with everything you need (even toothbrushes, toothpaste, cotton buds, makeup remover wipes & shaving cream - which you need to ask for in other hotels). Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner worked well. There is also a greatly-spaced balcony where you may enjoy the breeze. The only downside is that there are no ocean views nor any other view from the balcony. The view is obstructed by the roof of a business building (bike shop/surf shop/restaurant) that's beside the hotel. If you're after a hotel with ocean views, you need to check other hotels. But if you're after a walking distance to the beach with a great room, then this is for you. read more

**Accessibility violation (ADA)** I'm writing this after what was a deeply upsetting and humiliating experience tonight trying to check in at the Grandview Inn. I have PTSD, and travel with a Psychological Service Animal (PSA). Psychological Service Animals are different from ESAs in that they are working dogs who are trained to perform a specific function. In my case, it is checking rooms before I enter them. After traveling for hours to get here, I arrived after 10pm and was repeatedly told by the manager (Zubid?) at the front desk that the hotel doesn't take pets. I explained over and over again that my dog is not a pet but a working animal, and is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act. He responded, over and over again, that most hotels in the area don't take pets and that I would a) have to pay a $500 deposit to have him in the room with me (which is illegal) and b) that housekeeping would have to come in every single day, at an unspecified time, to clean the entire room, because dogs are dirty (despite the fact that I would both be in the room still and would be working). It took all of my energy to not have a breakdown at how ignorantly this was being handled and also that I would have to find another place to stay this late at night. He flippantly kept telling me there were plenty of other hotels in the area. I searched online, calling one in front of him, and it was clear that I was going to have to scramble for accommodations and also pay more money because of something that is simply not my fault. When I told him I could sue for something like this (which I can, and exercised my right to share), he made me promise I would respect him. It was disturbing and creepy, and naturally I freaked out. If you are considering staying here, please know that they are discriminatory and have no respect for the law or the very difficult situation that guests with disabilities are in. I am mortified, heartbroken, and lastly, unclear where I am to stay tonight. read more

The location is fantastic! Only steps away from the beach. It is a little on the expensive side but worth it for the location. The room is nice and simple. Everything is new from the renovation. The room is actually pretty spacious. There is a balcony (not ocean view) that has 2 chairs and space to put my cooler and body board after the beach. Overall, the room was great! I Am a 53yr old man far from rich I paid $300 for one night trying to get away from the drama at home, only to find more drama from what he said was his hotel. well the way he put it was "this is my house Bi@ch" I tried to ignore him but he kept on, until he ran up to me, but when he notice I was not backing down. he made up some lame excuse. he thought I was someone else. the next morning he was working the front desk, so I ask for a refund and he refused. Our family has stayed here before and it was an okay place being so close to Pier Ave. but our latest stay was so crazy we could not sleep there. Given the 60s/70s construction, the walls and doors have always let in conversations from the halls or from other louder rooms. The usual lack of private conversations and no consideration from some staying there was expected but things have changed with the management. Is it illegal drugs being used onsite given the late hours and the manic talking/swearing at all hours. The manager looks to be involved also, making the noise and is encouraging similar guests to carry on the same. Being woken up with mayhem from 2 to 5 am is not worth the $300 a night here. Somehow they feel okay allowing this to go on but at this price there are better choices. We did not feel safe with little ones and the manager being involved with the drama there. Avoid Grandview till they explain what is going on and promises to change the behavior. We're staying at the Beach House next time where we know we can safely rest through the night. read more

We booked a room here for two nights. The appeal was the proximity to the beach and walkable to downtown. The room itself was fine (weird setup with two queens with the headboards directly facing each other). We did have a a handful of issues: 1. Check-in: We arrived at 4:30PM for a room that we could check-in at 3:00PM. There was no one at the front desk. We rang the buzzer and no response. We called the hotel number and heard the phone ringing from inside a room. No answer. Pressed the buzzer again. Nothing. Called again and this time we finally got someone to come out and check us in. Took over 20 minutes of waiting around and not really knowing what to do. 2. Parking: While there is on-site parking, it is on a first come, first serve basis and there is no enforcement of non-hotel residents parking in the designated lot. We drove into Hermosa and specifically picked this hotel because of the "free onsite parking." When we returned to the room after dinner, the lot was full and I took the risk of getting a ticket where there is 2 hour parking from 10AM-2AM. I mentioned that the lot was full to the same desk attendant and his response was "One of the guests has some visitors." I asked if anything could be done about that and he said no. 3. Thin walls and noisy neighbors: Well those "guests with some visitors" happened to be a party being thrown in the room across the hall from hours with constant people going in an out, door ajar, and loud music until 6AM. Visited this spot for a night stay with my husband during COVID, it was an easy process to book online and one of the most economic prices around the area. It does have underground parking but it is a very small structure. Other than that, hotel was recently renovated, cute little rooms, we got an ocean view which was nice but it is also next to a house so you also have a view of house rooftop, but again for the price, well worth it. Steps down to the beach, pier, and the bars! Would recommend if you are looking for a standard room next to the beach. read more

well the room was really small. the floor was coming up see my picture. and the metal surfaces in the bathroom are rusted. also.... off the balcony from my room was an old couch that had a homeless person on it who was rubbing himself while looking up at us!! so when i told the manager he said "can i see?" i said yes come in... then he saw the homeless person violating themselves outside my balcony and later told me i couldnt get a new room or a refund! awkward!!! also hate to be lied too! they said they have netflix and hulu but dont! read more

We had an oceanfront room with a nice size balcony with two uncomfortable hard chairs bring your beach chairs in because the seats in the room were again hard. The room was a decent size and was clean. The bed was okay this is a value if you don't want to move your car on a 3 night getaway with the beach and many restaurants within a two block walk. We paid $182 a night compared to the beach house which is next door and we were quoted $399 night. It was loud at night as the young party crowd frequents this hotel. Wall are thin. Wow, those other reviews are really mean. Now, granted if you're looking for luxury, go somewhere else. For our purposes, it was perfect. I mean, it's not luxurious, so I'm not going to go give it 5 stars or anything, but it was functional and the view from our ocean view room was fantastic. I loved sitting out on the balcony early in the morning (still on east coast time) listening to the waves and watching people run, bike, and blade by on the strand. There were even a couple surfers out. It was super relaxing. As for the room itself, it was no frills, but very clean. I had two complaints, take them as you like: 1. They left the sliding door open after cleaning the room. This was nice because it gave the room fresh air and cooled it off. However, we were concerned that leaving only the screen door closed would have given any thieves easy access to our stuff (thankfully it was in the closet and out of sight). When I complained the next morning, the young man at the desk assured me that it is a safe neighborhood and there are cameras all around so we should not be worried. 2. We were not told what to do if the garage was full as it was when we returned the second night. We ended up parking on the street at a meter which did not become active until 10 am. When we complained the next morning they said we could have gotten a resident permit to park on the street. True to the other reviews was the grumpy woman at the counter. We didn't mind her. It would have been useful if she had told us about the possibility of a parking permit, but otherwise she did not do anything wrong. She certainly wasn't warm and fuzzy, but we really appreciated that she wasn't fake, and in LA, that's not so easy to come by (don't let the New Haven affiliation fool you, I lived in LA for 4 years). An ocean view room for under $200? Totally worth it. Not overpriced. Oh, and if you're a partying smoker, don't stay here, but if you're boring like us but love the ocean, it may just be your perfect place too. read more
