This is an amazing restaurant for breakfast at St. Pete's beach. Super cool vintage restaurant from 1938. The vibe is amazing. Love the ambiance! The coffee was delicious. We were seated immediately and Tara our waitress was fantastic!! So friendly and sweet!! Great service. Our breakfast was amazing. The shrimp and cheesy grits are to die for with an over easy egg on top. My husband loved his breakfast, scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, and English muffin! He even ordered a 2nd order of bacon. Found this place for breakfast while we were in St Pete. This place will take you way back as soon as you walked in. The decor is very nostalgic of the old Florida. I had the cheesy Cajun shrimp grits. It was so yummy! My husband had the French toast, but I wasn't impressed. They used a thin white bread which is normally not suitable for French toast.I wish I had a photo of it, but will be back again when we're in town and try something different. Service was great. Found this gem on Google maps and was drawn in by the history --this place has been around since 1938 serving bfast and Cuban toast so had to stop by. Immediately noticed the fun, holiday spirit inside where the Santa-licans flew above with hats and various X-mas decor throughout. 5/5 service - waitress was super friendly and attentive, she checked in multiple times and gave menu recommendations. Our table had a wobbly bench and she offered to move us, but we had already gotten the food so it was fine. 4/5 food - starting from best : shrimp n grits, wow, didn't know grits could be creamy and savory at the same time. The little bacon bits added a zing of flavor to a bite that didn't need the shrimp, which was a zesty lemon grill flavor. Cuban sandwich was solid, bread was crunchy and stuffed with plenty of ham & salami. Cod basket was just ok, think they could have made the fish less oily. The cole slaw was a bit too slimy and sweet for me but others liked it. Dill tartar sauce was bomb and plenty left to dip the fries into. Parking spots, though few outside, are free. Otherwise street parking is about $4 for an hour. Definitely would recommend checking this seaside spot out if you're visiting. read more

During recent visit to Tampa/St. Pete found our way over to St.Pete Beach. Nice Area with a very good breakfast spot called the Seahorse Restaurant. It's near the water with a throw back Florida vibe from the 60's & early 70's. Tables and overall decor is a visit back to old Florida! Server was very friendly & helpful with food selections. I decided on the Spicy Shrimp Omelette w/side of tomatoes since no hash browns. Also, had a Bloody Mary to start the day which was tasty! I had heard about and read good reviews about the Seahorse prior to our visit to St. Pete, so I wanted to give it a try. It looked like they had a casual, fun atmosphere and a great selection of breakfast choices. We stayed near downtown St. Pete, so our drive to Pass-a-Grille Beach was an adventure as well. We probably never would have driven down to it, but it's a gorgeous drive on a sunny day for the destination. We parked on the street and we seated quickly when we got there on a Sunday morning. We had a booth inside by the window. I enjoyed the old-fashioned atmosphere. Our server Betsy was FANTASTIC. She was so welcoming, friendly, and attentive. She had an amazing personality, and kept that coffee flowing! I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Omelette. It was so delicious and flavorful. The shrimp was plentiful and had Cajun seasoning on it. The omelette presentation itself was beautiful, too. It was one of the most perfect-looking, folded omelettes I've ever seen. The omelette came with a side of toast, but surprisingly no potatoes (not that my fat ass needed it anyway). My partner ordered the Veggie Breakfast Bowl, which was veggies mixed with their homemade cheese grits. He said the cheese grits were like none he had ever had and really enjoyed their uniqueness. So we finally made it over here for lunch. So good! It was not as busy as it gets with breakfast so we got seated quickly. Looking over the menu it was hard to decide but we started with clam chowder. Pretty good. Not the best I have had but it was definitely fresh! Then I had the Cajun fish sandwich. Delicious! Vacationing in St Pete's beach and was looking for a spot for breakfast. Took a 10 minute ride to Seahorse. Located across from the water In a quiet little town. Finding parking could be an issue however if you don't mind a walk then street parking is available. The restaurant itself has a vintage , preserved interior. Service was great, a lot of locals visit here. Got myself the classic breakfast, was a safe option. Mimosas weren't the greatest and that's part of the reason for the rating. We have t been here for a long time and I don't know why. They have a very nice outside patio and the menu is extensive for breakfast. Parking is always a bit challenging, but we managed to find a spot close by. Our server, Vanessa, was extremely attentive and friendly. Our coffee order arrived quickly and then we placed our food order. I opted for the western omelet with rye toast. The food came quickly and was nice and hot and the toast was toasted to perfection. Took a weekend trip to Pass-a-Grille and this was the BEST food I had all weekend. Seemed to always be crowded, that speaks volumes. Was able to do breakfast on a Saturday and Sunday and both times it was fantastic. Had I not been alone I would have been waiting for a table. As it was, I sat at the bar and was quickly greeted by the female bartender who was wonderful! Both days started with black coffee and Bloody Mary's. The cocktails were average, not spicy enough for my liking but a nice way to start the morning. The menu had the typical offerings but decided on blacken shrimp and cheese grits with Cuban toast. Living in the south, you learn that they're fantastic BUT they need to be made right. THESE were made PERFECT. I highly recommend the Cajun shrimp & cheese grits with bacon bits (got it as a to go order for the next day) and also any of the breakfast bowls. They keep the coffee comin' and the OJ is great. Atmosphere: right across from the water in Pass-a-grille so it's very tranquil and quaint. A small mom & pop diner feel with outside and inside seating. I have passed by the Seahorse several times over the last few years while visiting Pass-A-Grille but the line was always out the door. I stopped by this time to try my luck and the wait was only 20 minutes....woot woot! I started off with a Bloody Mary why we waited for our table. They offer some seating outside with umbrellas for shade while you wait. Our table took the estimated 20 minutes. I ordered the Hangover Helper which was two scrambled eggs over two biscuits with gravy. I asked for my eggs to be placed on the side however this request was not fulfilled. My food was tasty. The gravy was flavorful but not too heavy. Our server was super busy. But she kept up with our table of four. Our total was roughly $65 for four people which included a few alcoholic drinks. I would come back through again for breakfast. Plus the location is nice, right across the street from the water. read more

Decided to share a bowl of clam chowder and shrimp basket so we could get out of there fairly quick and share another meal somewhere else. Clam chowder was tasty. Shrimp was good but tasted like greasy eggs and hash browns. The fries were not good. Not sure how you can mess up fries. They tasted weird. Service was OK. Food was decent. Good price. Yup, I'm a shrimp and grits girl. Seahorse serves as a main meal or as a side. Cheese grits and grilled shrimp with a bit of bacon and spices . Not the traditional dish of sausage, onions and peppers. That's too much for a morning breakfast. Seahorse does it just right for a morning or lunch meal. Busiest during the morning breakfast rush, so be prepared to wait about 30 minutes on weekends if you go between the 9 to 11 rush. The service is friendly and relaxed. Dress is very casual and covered beachwear and flip flops are welcome. Outdoor and indoor seating. Plan a morning and pair your Seahorse meal with activities around the area. Stop by the Gulf Beaches Museum, the original church built in the early 1900s. It's free and they provide a 2 hour parking pass. Shuffleboard is free on the city's courts and makes a great photo to send back home. Walk over to Merry Pier and watch locals enjoy sone fishing, or buy a seat on the boat and take a ride over to Shell Key. Use the PSTA Trolley or local bus system and leave your car at the hotel!
