From the outside this place looks so out of place especially being in Woodhaven, Queens but once inside looks like any other pub. It way bigger inside and it was busy when I arrived. All the seats were taken so some of us had to sit on the side. Food was your typical bar food food such a burgers, pizza and fries. It was buffet style so we got the sample a little of everything which was good! We also got a drink of choice and I went with an Irish Ale being it's an Irish Bar. The place is really big inside, tons of seating options: along the bar, high tops and even a huge space in the back. They serve traditional bar food from burgers to pizza all well made. So this was my first time visiting Sean og tavern and and I was their for two different reason but this bar was actually pretty damn good the server was cool. So I also saw a ad about 6 dollar micholobe ultra and for a beer like that it's an amazing price I definitely like the vibe of the location I do wish they played different music but it was mostly country. But anyway that's not important the location was amazing and the service was good I had a voodoo ranger IPA and I'm such a IPA head and honestly I definitely see myself coming back to this bar. Sadly I didn't get any of the food but I saw that they have a Shepard pie and wow that's Shepard pie looks so so good I definitely need to check out the food and I definitely need to go and try it all. Sean of tavern definitely has such choices of beer taps and honestly I haven't been to a bar not a brewery a bar that had so many choices of beers and I definitely will be back so yea if your ever in the Woodside area I hight recommended coming to sean og tavern you will not regret and aka they have karaoke Wednesday nights. read more

Lots to say about this place ..... Was looking for a new place to go in Woodside since the place we have been going to for over 7 years disappointed us last time . So I found this place on yelp and from the moment I went in it was nothing but positive . I was greeted by Claire ( Bartender) with a good afternoon and a smile , I asked her for a menu which was provided promptly , the menu looked good I felt like there was a little bit of everything for every taste . So I decided to stay and give it a try , the atmosphere was great , they have an EXTENDEDDDDDDDDDD BAR haha very long one with plenty of selections and varieties of alcohol from bourbon to wine and beer . I had their salmon which was perfectly cooked and very well seasoned , my boyfriend had tacos since it was taco Tuesday and that was also good . Service was amazing , we were there for about 3 hours and not once we had to look or ask for another drink , Claire was extremely attentive and helpful . I love the fact they also have outdoor seating in a nice secluded side area . The only downer was the bathroom ,there was a little flood , but I did let them know and hope they addressed the issue . One of Woodside's staple Irish bars. I'm so glad to see they're still around. Wonderful and spacious bar with TV's to watch your favorite games. There's also seating on the side and back if you wanted to stay and eat. While they have a great selection on tap, you can also have meal. I live literally two steps away from this place and have seen how it has managed over the last few months. First thing I see now when I walk down the block, are the large white Tents along their outside space on the sidewalk. They're the embodiment of the "NY Strong" spirit. They had to shut down for a good spell from March until the Summer, and sadly lost a few good people on their staff to COVID. But now, it's one of the most bustling pubs in a neighborhood that's famous for pubs! They've really turned it around and set up one of the best outdoor seating arrangements in the neighborhood. I've even seen people have to wait in line for a table. I've stopped by a few times to order some take-out food, and I've never been disappointed. Their pizza is pretty decent (I've tried the Italian Sausage, not bad), their burgers and fries are solid (their Woodside Burger is tasty), but their best feature I'd say is their Fish and Chips. They give you real Malt vinegar and the portions are solid, along with the really good quality / taste. Staff are great and coping well, with the frenetic need to run in and out of the pub with food and drinks. Still haven't officially stopped by to get my own table and try what they have on tap but looking forward to it. All waiters wear masks but you're free to take off your own once you're seated of course. Feels good to have a neighborhood spot that's keeping proudly open and serving consistent pub fare. Came here for the fish and chips, left disappointed. Was craving some fish and chips lately; someone on the Woodside facebook group suggested that Sean Og's had a pretty solid one so I decided to try it out after voting early. Walk by to scope things out: good space, lots of seating, menu looks good, prices are fair. Wasn't quite sure what the procedure -- do I go inside to be seated outside, would someone come to the table if I just sat down outside. Went inside to try to help things. A very nice woman told me I was welcome to sit outside and she'd be right over. It took a while for her to get to me, but I didn't really feel like that was her fault; the place seemed to be a bit understaffed. I got to order eventually and asked for a Blue Point toasted lager as well. Everything up to this point is pretty standard. The food though was not good. It wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't come here to eat again. The quantity of food when you order the fish and chips is great, but the quality felt poor. The fish itself was fairly tasteless. The tarter sauce might as well have just been pickle juice. The french fries tasted like day old mcdonalds fries -- tough as though they had been reheated. Honestly, a fish filet at mcdonalds along with some fresh fries would have been more satisfying. There were a couple of issues with the bill. 1) I was charged for an imported beer, which doesn't seem accurate unless the UK somehow took over Long Island, 2) there was no place on my check to tip. I went inside to ask if gratuity was built into the price -- it is in some places, but didn't want to assume. She informed me that it was not and together we tried to figure out what happened. We couldn't. I had a few singles in my wallet and gave them that feeling a bit guilty. All in all, I think the prices are good and the staff is great. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Delish! Feel so lucky to have this place in the neighborhood. I've had drinks at the bar a couple of times (the interior is very cool!) but regularly order dinner for delivery -- it's quick and the food always arrives hot, and all of the ingredients taste really fresh! Excited to try more of the menu but, for now, can highly recommend the French onion soup, shepard's pie, poached pear salad, bee sting pizza, and the Santa Fe tortilla bowl. We came here for date night dinner after learning Woodlot didn't really have any dinner food and man am i grateful for Woodlot's shortcomings. I definitely wouldn't have thought to come here to eat; it looks like a run of the mill Irish pub from outside but i got a VEGAN! sausage sandwich that completely blew me away. They were also kind enough to let me sub in regular mozzarella in place of the vegan mozzarella. We also tried the Irish Curry which was top notch and the shoe string fries were a better version of McDs friea. The bar didn't have any of their frozen cocktails available when we stopped by so we just got basic drinks. I will say the vodka lemonade was waaaay too sweet for me, but I also don't usually order lemonade so maybe that's how it's supposed to be. read more

Experience #1: New Years Eve 09'. Pretty fun time, dance party, free champagne at midnight.. until my favorite winter coat and cell phone were stolen! I reached for my coat which was on a nearby barstool to make some celebratory phone calls and my cell was in the pocket of my coat. Both disappeared - both now belong to a guilty stranger. I notified the bartenders and bouncers - they helped me look, people offered to buy me drinks.. One guy even offered me his coat - they were very sweet but I was sad, and in tears. You should not have to worry about stuff like that in Woodside if you ask me. I posted notices in the bar and at the subway stop - never heard anything.. sad sad sad. Experience #2: The other night my gal pal and I stopped in for a couple beers. We sat down at the bar, it was decently full but not crowded. Nice bartendress poured our brews, took a couple sips and then from out of nowhere CREEPERS attacked! Two dudes pulled up next to us and stared the creepy stare like you wouldn't believe! We would glare over at them, they'd look away fast and then a moment later right back at us - gross! We covered our glasses with coasters and stepped outside to confess how uncomfortable we both felt - these were the type of creeps that had probably already ruffied our drinks. So we left. Not worth the stress - just a couple girls trying to have a nice night out. Conclusion: I don't care that you have very cute Halloween decorations and one of the only dance floors in Woodside Sean Og's - you attract bad people, and there are better neighborhood bars that deserve my business. read more

I passed by this place so many time when I take the Q18, but it never matched the name and the bar until I went in that day. Oh, right, that place! Happy hour specials were extended for our UYE (thanks Leighann!!!) and I stood there blankly not knowing what to get. "What should I get?" "What's your regular?" "Regular?" "You don't have a regular drink you normally get at bars?" "I don't really go to bars...." I guess it's time for me to get a "regular" (I feel so grown up)! I'm not too much of a beer fan. Today it was refreshing to receive old school hospitality from the gentlemen behind the bar.

I went there today to escape the 90 degree heat, have a beer, and eat some of the food I had just purchased from one of the carts on the same street as this place. I get in, I order the beer from the male bartender, I get the beer, I sit down, I start to drink the beer, and I start to eat my cart food. A few minutes later, this same male bartender comes up to me and says "you can't eat that here." I look up at him and say "...but I bought a beer, though." 99% of bars will let you eat outside food if you buy a beer; it's not like I'm not giving the bar my money -- in fact, an eating patron is probably going to give the bar even more money than otherwise. Alas, this did not matter to this bartender. "We serve food here." I asked him directly: "Next time, sure; but now, can I finish my food?" He says "no, you need to put your food away." Yeah, okay, buddy. I'm going to sit here, and either finish the beer I just bought (AND TIPPED YOU FOR) at a normal pace letting my food get cold and stale, or I'm going to chug the beer and leave immediately -- both outcomes making me think extremely negative thoughts about my time and money spent at your bar. I asked him if he had a to go container for the beer and he produced for me a plastic beer pong cup. I couldn't believe it; he was actually serious. So, I poured my beer into the plastic beer pong cup, I went outside with my food, I suffered in the 90 degree heat and drank rapidly-warming beer and ate my cart food in an extremely uncomfortable environment, and I left the area thinking extremely negative thoughts about this bar. Did he expect me to throw away the food I already bought and buy something from him instead? What even is the point of interrupting someone's quiet enjoyment of their meal and a beer after the fact? The entire purpose of a bar banning outside food when you yourself serve food is sacrificing customer enjoyment for the bar's potentially higher profit, and hoping that this sacrifice doesn't send people away. But when there is no chance of someone buying your own food -- and especially when someone was unaware of your rule? It's not like you're going to be making more money off of me. We have been coming to Sean Og Tavern for a long time now and we all enjoy the food and atmosphere. We play soccer in a nearby field; and after the games we come over for brunch. The whole staff are very welcoming and accommodating; they always find a way to accommodate our larger groups. The brunch pizza is delicious, along with the brunch skillets and omelets; we all have pretty much tried all of the brunch items and they are all delicious. Excellent Irish. Wow - what a great little pub in Woodside. We were out early for the McCartney concert over at Citifield and needed liquid refreshment as well as grub to suck it up. The bar is what you want it to be - long and with plenty of seats and manned by a very good bartender - she was there with drinks and a witty remark when you needed her - plus she was hot which always helps in my opinion. Decent selection of beers and above all the menu is pretty extensive. I think we established that it is the same as the Woodside cafe next door. In any case we were very surprised to see a lot of veggie options on there along with your standard bar and Irish offerings. We hit up veggie burgers and veggie paninis and they were both very good. Way better than we expected which is always a double bonus! Prices were fine and there is also an internet jukebox there - from which we poured on a boat load of Beatles and McCartney tunes to get in the mood. Definitely going back. read more

One day I was on an EPIC adventure with a friend who was in town for the weekend. We were trying to start our adventure at a bar in Queens. We went to Sunnyside, and went in every bar we saw on Yelp. Each bar was a failure. Often we walked in, and walked out. Nothing to see there... In one bar, we stopped to see the end of the Knicks game. These dudes were yelling and screaming and telling us the Knicks were going to lose. They did not. There were these girls there. They were regulars. They wanted no part of said dudes. But they were cool and talked to us. We told them we were looking for somewhere with music to chill that night. One of the girls told us a story. She said, "there is a place nearby called Sean Og. It is a cool place and we like to go there. Tonight is not their best night, but there should be music. But be careful." Careful? Then she told us that there are often a lot of Tibetans and sometimes, they get drunk and want to fight. The story got crazier and crazier as we she told us of these crazy fights she would have with Tibetans. She insisted that there were just some random people that would be rude and she would end up arguing and that they would be in these epic battles with a growing population of aggressors. Males and females. So we asked - "Then why the hell do you keep going there?" Answer: "Because, Sean Og is awesome. That's our spot..." These stories were so crazy, that we had to go to Sean Og. We paid, and we left. We walked straight to Sean Og. There was hip hop playing, there weren't many people but it was a beautiful bar and the vibe was nice, as was the bartender. We were treated nicely, people were pretty awesome and we were happy chilling at Sean Og for the rest of the night. We got comfortable. Despite the amazing stories we heard, the place was not full of Tibetans...Unfortunately, there was not a Tibetan in sight... ....Yet.... As the night went on, people started to fill Sean Og. Then, like the epic bar story fairy waived her wand, Tibetan women started to fill Sean Og. Not 5. Not 10. At least 40. It was kind of crazy. Douche bags wandered in and tried to talk to them. They usually got shut down. It was like a great people watching event. People danced. The place was very ethnically diverse, but true indeed, there were lots of Tibetans. Noticeably, one of the Tibetan women was not a woman. The poor dude that danced with that particular person had not gotten the memo...he kept saying "that chick is tall..." as he ordered more drinks... But I saw not a single fight. People were nice. It was great. Everyone was happy, even the guy with the "tall chick" on the dance floor! And Sean Og Tavern was awesome. It was worth the trip. Note: Initially I mistakenly recalled that the women were from Cambodia, for reasons unbeknownst to me. I wrote my initial review using Cambodia. Sean Og's is a bit bipolar. From opening time - 11AM I believe since this is Woodside and those Irish and Korean folks need their drinks! - until about 9 PM this as good a local tavern as one could ever want. Happy hour lasts from 11 until 7 PM and everything is $4 and that includes their decent selection of craft and imported drafts and all the whiskeys. Adding to the fun is that incredibly amiable and hospitable bartenders almost always buy you a drink back for every two you buy. Not convinced? Not only is there a $9 beer and burger special but there's a patio which sits in the sun all spring and summer. Don't know what to do on your Sunday Funday? Head to Sean Og's, grab a seat outside and drink in the sun. Trusty me. I've done it before and it's fun. Worth a stop if you're going to or from CitiField, Flushing for dim sum, SriPraPha for Thai, Jackson Heights for Indian food, or any trek you might make that requires taking the 7 to 61st street or LIRR to Woodside. As for the bipolar bit, after 9PM the local kids seem to descend on the place; especially on weekends when they even have bouncers outside checking IDs, which makes this the only bar in Woodside that does so. Very nice authentic and spacious Irish pub. This place looks like the bars I saw in Temple Bar in Dublin. The outside of this place has obviously been designed in such a manner. The bartender we saw here was from Ireland as well. This is a nice and roomy place to drink a Guinness, and watch a soccer game. The food served here is typical bar food (burgers, fish and chips).
