While I'm pretty loyal when it comes to seeing my barber, she was on vacation and I've been working so much lately this January month, also during the busy holiday season too. It was time to just go try out a new barbershop and get my hair trimmed. Using our handy dandy Yelp App, I looked up the nearest barbershop in the Seaport area without having to use public transportation or ride share services. Seaport Barbers was the nearest one with great reviews. I also did some research on their website for online booking. Made an appointment at 1pm with any barber who was available. Went in a little bit early just in case I got lost with Google Maps directions. Walked in and met Kevin, we quickly introduced ourselves and did a fast consultation and proceeded with my haircut. It took less than 20 minutes, got exactly what I needed with not a too high of a side fade, with good conversation at the same time. It is poor business practice to be displaying business hours till 6pm online and on your door when you close earlier with no notice anywhere. Update following response from the business: It actually seems pretty common that if a business provides for walk-ins (by even explicitly saying "Walk-ins are welcome! We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.") and presents those business hours that they are to be open at such times. It also goes both ways not understanding the circumstances in anyone's life, what if I needed a haircut to attend a funeral the next morning? You had asked to set me up for an appointment the next day (however I couldn't as I had already gone out of my way) and did not have anyone in your building an hour before close, therefore, it doesn't look like you fill up fast or are extremely busy from my point of view! While I do not know the extent of your employee's personal life, you also do not know mine, but what I do know is that you are business that accepts walk-ins and has posted hours online and on your door. I tried Seaport Barbers since my South Shore barber has his schedule filled up till the end of next week, and I had to have a haircut while I am staying in my Seaport condo. My experience of the first visit to Seaport Barbers was pretty unpleasant and felt that staff lacks professionalism. I won't come back, nor recommend this place to others. The barber who did my haircut, was very rushed, showing no sincerity and giving rough cuts. My original appointment was with other barber, who was at the shop. If he is not going to have my hair cut, I would expect any proferssionals would at least tell the customer that someone else will do the job, or ask for customer's consent to do so. No attention or respect for the customer, and I think this is totally unprefessional and appears that they do not have any sense of pride in their work. It is a shame that in my City neighborhood, a service shop like neighborhood barborshop is run by sub-par professaionals. No wonder the shop was empty with no other customers. I got an email confirmation for an appointment at 4:30 today, and I got in the car and drove over from work. As I was pulling into the parking garage at 4:20, I got a call saying that unfortunately she was looking at the wrong day and they weren't able to see me, but she could check another day if I wanted to reschedule. The barbers were all talking loudly to each other and not paying close attention to the haircuts They talked for about 20 minutes about how a client that morning smelled bad, and the vibe of the conversation was insanely inappropriate. Absolutely fantastic. Londoner who moved to Boston a few months ago and as per some other reviews here, went to Supercuts (as it's a UK brand too) and was in and out in under 10 minutes. Simply the best fades and tapers in Boston. Perhaps they do an equally excellent job on longer cuts, but I haven't tried it myself :) I made the mistake of using a free hour on a business trip to get a haircut at an unknown place in Florida; it was the worst weight line and fade I've ever seen. One of the barbers here saved it when I got home that night (that was several years ago when he worked in the South End) and turned it in to a perfect tight fade. This place is expensive, and I'm not sure I got my money's worth. I was offered a beer when I first walked in, which is awesome, but that's about as much personal attention as I got. The guy who cut my hair seemed way more interested in some stupid story his coworkers were discussing than in his work. He also spent some time hitting on the girl who was working up front. (Out of nowhere he offered her "mouth to mouth," to many of the guys' amusement. I'm sure she goes home delighted with her job every night.) My haircut wasn't bad. I asked for a drastically different cut from my current one, and it turned out pretty well. I was left with some hairs that refused to cooperate on one side of my head, and he just kind of gave up and said I needed to use product to deal with them. THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I have tried the shop multiple times, and the entire staff is extremely sexist. Each time I have visited I have had to sit and listen to them talk about the women walking by on the street (often running to the window-stopping my cut altogether), the women they slept with the night before, or watched them pass a phone around with what I can assume are not G-rated photos. I have heard them discuss and objectify women is ways that is absolutely disgusting. Their dialogue around the trans community is beyond alarming. I have ignored the "locker room" talk each time due to the convenience of the location, but each time I am shocked by what happens. I have visited 6-8 times and can only remember once when the experience was without incident. If I were the owner/manager (who leads many of the conversations), I would be embarrassed. After the last incident and the conversation that I heard, I will never visit again. read more

Once he opened up his own place in Seaport I tried it out and the service and job that they do is just as great! Not great and pretty unprofessional. For a high priced shop in the seaport I expected better. Cut wasn't really what I asked for and Andy cut my neck in multiple places at the end what doing my neck which resulted in blood spots on my white work shirt. Careless and not focused. For the premium price you should get premium service in my opinion. I've been to much better shops in Boston. Won't likely return. This was my first time visiting this establishment and I went in with high hopes because of the location and aesthetic. I was poorly mistaken. The barber who cut my hair was rude and unprofessional. My appointment was at 8:00 and the guy did not even show up until 7:59, with still needing to open the whole shop. The haircut itself was rushed but the overall cut was decent enough. I am upset because the shop is so close to my apartment but due to this experience, I will be continuing to go to my previous barbershop in Newton. Most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. I called them this morning for an appointment and I was booked at 4 30 pm today. The woman who booked me for 4 30 pm clearly confirmed my appointment for today at 4 30 pm over phone. And now I go there after an hour's commute only to see they don't even have my name at 4 30 Pm. They are so casual about it saying they can't do anything and not even 1% accommodative. They were trying to blame it on me saying the lady Called me back, left a message. NO, I don't have any voicemail from these guys or any text message from these guys. First you confirm my appointment over phone, then when i come down after an hour's commute, you try to blame me as if you did your job trying to reach me and it's not your problem if you can't. Why would you even make a mistake of committing to 4 30 pm if you didn't have any? And even if you did, why would you try blaming me for not being able to reach when i come down there promptly at 4 30pm? It's not even about not having my name down, I totally understand sometimes confusions happen, but the barbers' attitude when I went in there was what pushed me to the edge to write this review. They were not even apologetic and were behaving as if is my mistake. How is it my mistake when you confirm the appointment first with me? After you confirm the appointment and you can't reach the person (which I highly doubt they made a genuine attempt to reach me), stick to it because as per last communication you have confirmed the appointment.
