Update: two out of five people had food poisoning so i downgraded it from two stars to a one star Original: The servers and hostess were great! But today's manager was a complete jerk. When we arrived, we were told the wait was 20-30min. At 30 min, we checked in, and the wait was a little longer than expected because another party was hanging out after their meal. While we were waiting, the manager walks up to the hostess and said "I heard you are having some impatient customers." She down played, because we were right there... after over an hour of waiting, we were seated. Not really expecting anything, I asked the server if it was possible for a free app for the double wait time. 2 min later, the manager comes up and goes off on us very aggressively about how he checked and the wait time is 45 min. The company policy is that it's not their fault and more. It really put a sour mood in the whole experience. He could have just said exactly the same thing the hostess said and we wouldn't care. The occasional glare from him during dinner was also not appreciated. Food was just okay for that high price. I suggest skipping the wait and going to a restaurant where managers aren't a jerk over light negative feedback. read more

Man what an experience. I'm up from orlando for some local work & a local said hey if u want some killer lobster u need to check this place out. Our server Fabio was very knowledgeable on what we had asked and he always kept our drinks full. But Wow they weren't kidding either on the taste of the food my coworker ordered the fish and chips ( tons of food by the way ) and he said it was some of the best he had ever had and , I had the Wednesday special . The food was BLAND... if you're used to food having season and flavor then look elsewher. I ordered fish and chips... the fish taste like it was grabbed fresh out the water and fried... no flavor. The firecracker shrimp was ok fresh but not later on. I also ordered the clam chowder which was the best item I ordered but still disappointed. My first time EVER making clam chowder was much better! We were seated @ 5:30pm Sat, 6/4, and the place was quite busy, plan accordingly! The website says "Reservations", and the link goes to Open Table, where it says "no Reservations". Called the restaurant, they have a wait list. Advised me to call 1/2hr ahead. We were nearby, put our name in @ 5pm, got seated within 25min. The place was already quite busy! I'd have preferred to have sat outside, but that would've been an additional 1/2hr, although I didn't ask at the time I put my name in . The FOH was very nice and attentive. Amber, our server, was very knowledgeable and helpful. We had the shrimp platter, onion rings, the mussels, and the crispy chickpea and kale salad. They were all delicious! Everything was very fresh. Visited Gloucester with the family to be outdoors a little after being in quarantine since April and I was happy to find a restaurant with some outdoor and indoor but with social distancing in place. I reserved a spot on line through Yelp so only had to wait 5 min after arriving. The outdoor seating line was longer so we chose to sit inside but all the tables were far apart from one another and it was a very open and breezy. They have online menus only which was nice and you can scan the QR code with your phone at the table. My mom ordered the New England clam chowder as an appetizer and we ordered the lobster roll, fish tacos, cioppino, and fish and chips to share. Lobster roll My mom liked the lobster roll a lot but it didn't quite make the cut for the rest of the family. I thought it was lacking in salt and I honestly just wasn't a fan. You can order with cole slaw or fries. The cole slaw was a but under salted as well. Would not order again. Fish tacos So this was my favorite. I ordered the haddock but you have a choice between haddock and shrimp. It comes with 3 big tacos that are filled with tomatoes and cabbage and other things. Seasoning was great and overall I thought it was very tasty. Would order again. Fish and chips The portions were huge! Comes with fish on a bed of fries with tartar sauce. Tartar sauce was delicious and the fish pieces were very crispy. Cioppino Also very big portions but would've loved having more seafood and less of the sauce. I had a nice lunch at the Seaport Grill today with my wife. We had Louie as a server he was a really nice guy and did a great job. The clam chowder and chili were excellent! The calamari was overcooked and bland but was still OK. The lobster BLT was very creative and tasty! We sat on the enclosed deck and enjoyed the ambiance and view of the harbor. We were in Gloucester this week and decided to have a drink an a little to eat here. The restaurant itself is nice and open with nice views of the harbor. We sat at the bar ordered beers and then decided to get some food. My wife got the lobster roll which did have quite a bit of good lobster meat. A bit more mayonnaise than my wife likes but still, very stuffed in the hot dog roll. The menu lists it as a 'toasted roll' and, for some reason, they didn't toast it. It's pretty traditional for the roll to be toasted (and buttered) and had to ask for it to be redone. They were great, though! They told us to keep the meat from the first one and took the cost off the bill. I got the Thai Lettuce wraps for $14 which is advertised as "shaved vegetables", Bibb lettuce, crushed cashews, peanut sauce, etc. Well, the definition of "shaved vegetables" seems to be taking a small carrot and shaving it so it fits on 4 lettuce leafs. Then add one small strip of red or green pepper (I mean, these would have measured out at about 1mm on calipers) and a couple of onion strips. I could have added chicken but fora $10 upcharge, it seemed excessive. However, given what I got, I now understand the cost of the upcharge! Regardless, for $14, skip this as an app. Ridiculously priced as an app for a little bit of carrots and lettuce. Offsetting that was the clam chowder which I thought was very good! The staff was very friendly but it was hard to get their attention. With 3 bartenders wandering in and out, it took a bit to get their attention but again, they were friendly and very responsive to the comment on the lobster roll. It's a nice place, I'd go back to have a beer and sit on the water but I'd be much more discerning about what I ordered. read more

Fantastic restaurant--worth the wait. Seaport Grille is in an odd place--between a dry dock and some sort of depot for tractor trailers. Despite this, the view in the back of the marina is lovely, and they have plenty tables with views. The night we were there, late July, 2022, was cool enough that the dining room "wall" was open, so everyone could enjoy fresh air from the deck. The staff was personable and attentive, and the food was delicious. We've been on vacation for a week, and this was my favorite restaurant so far. All the other restaurants we visited had seafood, but the recipes were overly complicated. Here, the entrees were delicious because they were simple. I had halibut on a bed of grilled asparagus with a light cream sauce--unique, but simple! What you want to know: Casual, but clean: there were folks in dresses, but no suits or even button up shirts. I did not see any cutoffs or super casual T-shirts. My sister wore jeans with no problem and my mom and I wore capris and casual tops. Prices were comparable to the other restaurants we'd been to. Entrees that weren't listed as "market value" were $25 -$30 ish. Mine did not come with a side salad or potato, but I could've ordered it on the side if I wanted. Dessert sizes are massive! There is a large (and free) parking lot. Seating includes booths, tables, and high-tops and is nicely spaced so you will not feel cramped/crowded. We ate late, which may explain why I didn't see any kids, but well-behaved children should be fine. It's a busy, fast-paced restaurant, so I wouldn't let them run around. Celebrating my retirement we got the worst table. My view of the swinging kitchen door and waitstaff constantly running by the table makes it clear that this table was wedged in. There was enough for four or five people! Our main meals? Well it hardly matters since we could not finish them. I had a bacon burger. My dad had stuffed shrimp. We both left over half our food. The Mussels come with a light buttery dipping sauce that makes them taste even better. I keep going back to them because that essentially WAS our meal. I have never ever filled up with just Mussels before. The burger, what I could eat of it, was out of this world and my dad enjoyed the fifty percent of shrimp he was able to eat. The waitress was angry because we asked about keto options. Than brought us warm wine and refused to exchange it because that's how 'we serve red wine here'. There is room temperature and there is too warm. 20 min after meal my sister came down with food poisoning. We had to stop at health food store to get activated charcoal. Left our getaway early because of it. Had to stop twice on the way home for bathroom break, because she was getting sick. We had lobster roll for a meal. The ambiance is light and airy with views of the harbor. The food was sooo good and well prepared. After a great Beach day I stopped in for a bite to eat. Without reservations the host was able to seat us in about :15 minutes. The servers and hosts wore masks throughout. This restaurant is beautiful inside featuring gorgeous high ceilings and boho palm leaf fans. The service was great our server knew all of the specials and was familiar with allergens in the menu items when asked. There was a decent crowd for a mid day lunch. The fish and chips came in a huge portion. The breading on the fish was light and crispy not heavy or overwhelming. I plan to return and try one of the many pasta dishes. read more
