Outside downtown Gloucester is a spot called Lobsta Land, a restaurant I finally visited after passing by it many times on my visits to the town. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a nice and lively place with a beautiful marsh view at the deck area, a very pleasant area to sit in during summer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait for a bit if you want a table. The service was good and the food came out pretty quickly. I got a bountiful fish n' chips, enough for two people to split which was a nice surprise. The clam chowder and calamari were top notch as well, and everything tasted very fresh which isn't a surprise given the location. Nice big chunks of clams in there which I appreciate. The portions overall were great. I caught a glimpse of other dishes and they looked quite elaborate! If you're into tuna, there's a layered tuna lasagna looking thing that a lot of people seemed to get. The seared salmon also seemed great. Next time I might try lobster! read more

Party of four, this place is pretty awesome and pretty busy. Live music, outdoor and indoor seating water views. 30-40 min wait cars parked on the side of the road for a mile. Fried calamari app- Coconut shrimp app- Wedge salad- Tuna tower- Swordfish special- ShortRib dinner- Filet of sole- Food was good, the lobster risotto with the swordfish was a little too goupy for me- The rest was good - I am not used to needing to ask for more unsweetened tea so I suffered with a dry mouth and empty cup- Do better- prices are a bit high but hey seafood is expensive and the setting is pretty awesome - Iwould say 4.5 stars servers need to pay more attention to the tables- I think if it were an alcohol drink it would have been filled. read more

This place is fantastic! Great staff and the best food! The mixed drinks were tasty and potent. I had the grilled Haddock. My son had the blackened Haddock. The coleslaw and the butternut squash were both great sides. My wife had the seafood risotto and loved it. My daughter-in-law enjoyed the lobster pasta. Our server, Jilleen, was the best! She definitely knew her stuff and she was quick especially with new cocktails. The Mondello's rented a place down by the beach so I went to visit. Mrs. M & I hit the beach for the day (Larry Sr had to work) & hit Lobsta Land up for a late lunch. Saturday evening had an early dinner with my mama at Lobsta Land, I've heard great things and this is my first time here. Got here at 5:30 and was seated at a high top at the bar. Our service was good for how busy it was. Three times we had to wave our waitress over to get refills and one for a problem with our meal (she never checked on us when the food runner dropped it off). We decided to split the fisherman's platter and sub out coleslaw for rice pilaf. The platter was much more expensive compared to places in the area and even Boston. A high whopping $60! I will say, it was good. Very skimpy on the shrimp and scallops. We had three scallops and 4 shrimp, it was a lot of calamari. The food was good but not worth that price for what you get. This is THE spot! The place can accommodate all party sizes. We went there with some friends and were surrounded by people on dates, families enjoying lunch together and also big group of friends. The energy is fun and relaxing. The staff is friendly and on top of it. They were busy and quick at rotating tables, in the most efficient way without ever rushing anyone. We loved everything we shared, the combo platter, the mussels, the ceasar salad and the seafood bouillabaisse! The seafood bouillabaisse was absolutely DELICIOUS! - even in hot summer weather. Extensive menu with awesome views of the water marsh when you choose to sit outside. I appreciate the glass windows outside, which helps breaks up the wind, so you can actually enjoy your meal without worry about things flying around. I had a hard time choosing what to get, but the lobster BLTA was delicious. Plenty to lobster and the bun was perfectly grilled. The side pickle was literally the crunchiest pickle I've ever been served. The side of fries filled the void, but I saw someone at the table next to us get the pasta salad, and that's what I would try next time. I cannot imagine a better place to bring my family from Kansas to experience excellent seafood than Lobsta Land. This was the second time in two weeks that I have entertained friends and the quality and variety of the offerings is amazing. On November 14, we celebrated her 75th birthday with my sister-in-law and brother, and they were delighted by the food and the service provided by Robyn C, our gracious server. We have found that the servings are more than ample, and the prices are reasonable. We had the following: Paella, Salmon Risotto, Seafood Risotto, and Scallops (broiled). We enjoyed Allagash Draft and Corey's Seasonal beers, along with a J Lohr chardonnay. We had enough of each dish to bring something home for the next day. Lobsta Land knows seafood and it's a great family restaurant. It was a quiet night, with a full moon pouring light onto our table. I posted a Google review and this place had the audacity to double down saying it's "impossible for me to have eaten there". They were upset that I was parked there before they open. Went here on recommendation of friends and our fishing captain. 30 minute wait on a Wednesday night at 7 in September. Not terrible. Very busy ambience which is nice compared to a lot of low energy places. Service was good but not fantastic. Food was mixed. Tuna tower was outstanding. Wedge salad was huge, but came with sad flavorless whole cherry tomatoes like you get at grocery in winter. Blue cheese dressing was not enough for the size of the wedge. Server saw this when delivering and did rectify. However the flavor of the dressing just made me want to go home and make my own. Fried haddock was not near as fresh as what we had the next day at the lobster pool. Paella was very good though. . read more

One was too cooked , the other one was a soft shell not even a pound. After asking why should we be charged for a full price 1 1/2 pound lobster , the manager said the risk was on us until we showed her picture of the the small piece of meat coming out of our lobster tail. It looked like a shrimp. The young server was super sweet , summer student but clearly nobody had trained her. Ordered 2 cups of chowder that never showed up. Sorry she said. Great seafood spot w huge portions! We always saw this place driving by and decide to give this place a try since the parking lot is always full of cars! Ordered fried clams which was market price -$37 and the portions were HUGE! It was the largest batch of fried clams ive ever seen for the price. This seems to be a popular spot so be sure to make a reservation! That said, we were told 45min of waiting time to get any seating that becomes available. After maybe 20min our buzzer flashed/vibrated. Got seating at the heart of the restaurant-the bar. It's buzzing and it's loud. Not the music but just people talking...... Outdoor seating is likely much more quiet and overlooking the marsh. Service is quick. Drinks came right away. Food took a bit longer. Presentation is good (haddock tacos and ahi tuna tower). It was ok but not overwhelmingly good. Heaps better than any seafood shack near and far. We are always looking for creative dishes and presentation not the usual tourists traps. I'd recommend this because of atmosphere, nice view of the marsh and menu options. Would I come back. Likely. But only with reservations to get a nice patio seat with view. read more

Additionally, the ambiance was lively--I can tell that this is a spot that many locals like to come to. I went to Lobsta Land last week with a friend and my dog. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was very full but the host offered to seat us at the outdoor bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It quickly became apparent that my dog would not be comfortable between my stool and the bar and the bartender was right there to suggest that she put our name in for a table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She said that we would have to leave the bar while we waited but told us to grab a couple of Adirondack chairs on the deck where they would deliver our drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a very comfortable space where we stayed for no longer than 10 minutes before being led to our table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we were seated, a large bowl of ice water was brought over for the dog, who had plenty of space. My sister-in-law was visiting from the Midwest and wanted fresh lobster. We drove two hours from Western Massachusetts to fulfill her wishes. The calamari appetizer was delicious, but the lobster was so disappointing! it was the worst lobster we've ever had- tough and chewy. We couldn't even finish it. When we complained to the management, they said they would "fix" our check. They ended up charging us the full price PLUS an extra $38.50 for an item we didn't even order! We eventually got that taken off the bill and a $12 "reduction" for the two inedible lobsters. What a disappointing experience for our visitor! read more
