Da Glosta House. "Quite Good". Handsome amounts of fresh Haddock, lightly breaded, fried to perfection. The fries were pretty okay. A batter fry thick cut would be more appropriate. These were slim cut fries. Good though. The tarter sauce has a light fresh flavor, excellent. Maple bacon burger is worth selling a pint of blood for. Get it. Your welcome. Bar staff was top notch. Two waitresses moved like fighter jets, bartender was on point. The dude is a fixer. His nickname should be "The Fixer". So say we all.

You're paying for the view at this restaurant, not the food. My mother ordered haddock, scallions, mashed potatoes and I ordered a grilled chicken Mexican salad. I tasted her scallions and mashed potatoes. She and I both thought the potatoes and scallions were bland/tasteless and she said the haddock was also rather tasteless. My mom said the batter was greasy and not crispy. My grilled chicken tasted as if it had been frozen and then thawed and cooked. Waitress was not very attentive to our drinks and didn't offer any dressing for my salad. $35.30 for both our lunches and 1 tea. The cornbread was very good (thick and moist) and view was pretty. Waitress gave us some cornbread to go. My mom had fun feeding the seagull.

Fun place for lunch or dinner. We had the boiled lobster and a fried haddock sandwich. Lobster was superb. Haddock sandwich was just ok. Might be better on a po boy style roll or a piece of folded Texas toast. Or a hoagie. Also it didn't come with tartar so I had to wait a bit for the server to come back to begin eating. Chowder was ok, very gritty. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner but there is room for improvement. Will likely come back another time in the summer.

Warm lobster roll and a beer was perfect for lunch. Loved everything about this space. Easy, casual, quintessential shipping village little eatery.

This place is amazing! I came to Gloucester with one dish in mind and that was the Lobster Roll. It has always been a dream of mine and The Gloucester House fulfilled that. The lobster was savory, the butter well suited the meat, the bread was soft and warm. Everything was great!!! I also had a taste of the fried shrimp, needless to say that shrimp basket can suit two people instead of one. They give you more than enough shrimp to satisfy your needs! I also have to say that the cornbread they serve you is warm and buttery. Just be careful not to eat too much of it! Overall, the service here was great, the restaurant was nice and clean and they give you a nice view of the harbor. The food came out in a timely manner and it tastes just like they caught it the same day. I will truly be returning back to this town and visiting this restaurant again. I also recommend if you're in the area to pay this restaurant a visit.

Our group of four recently had lunch here while visiting Massachusetts. As a bonus, we were able to watch a fish boat unload while lunching. The locally-caught fish dishes were excellent. I had the haddock. The clam chowder and the fish chowder were both excellent. These dishes did not have a ton of ingredients, and the chef wasn't trying to be extra creative with them. The chef really allowed the fish to be the main attraction. While the table received a bread basket, I was given gluten-free rolls, which I really appreciated. The restaurant itself is very clean and comfortable. They have a fireplace for those cold chilly days. There is also dockside patio seating. We sat inside due to rainy weather. There is a more casual outdoor restaurant called the Blue Collar Lobster. It appears to be outdoor deck seating. Both are owned by The Gloucester House. I'm assuming it's open seasonally, but not certain. The servers were pleasant but a little slow. Our water glasses sat empty for a while before we could get their attention for a refill. I noticed this at all tables. Overall, if you are looking for fresh fish, you have found the place.

So I can completely understand why this place can't go beyond 4 stars. Everything is just ok. When you have the tourist drive from the 7 Seas Whale Watch you have guaranteed traffic so that should make you want to make sure the space is clean and you have epic clam chowder for starters. The space is tidy but it's not super clean. The glasses have bits on them so this may be a case of needing a super string washing machine replaced. The food is really just average and nothing to write home about, and for $35 a lobster you should have super fresh and delicious sides, not canned coleslaw. The clam chowder is watery but everyone said it was fine. Other than that it's fine and will do for lunch. It's not bad it's just not food you'll crave again.

My wife and I went for lunch today. The food was excellent and very fresh. We both started with the clam chowder, very good and considering we are both natives of Massachusetts, we are Chowda snobs. For lunch she had the baked Haddock and I had the fish and chips, also very good. Top this off with a very friendly and knowledgeable waitress , Kara , you have some repeat customers. We will definitely be back

The onion rings are low breaded more tempura style and still have some bite left to them, making them easier to eat than ones that have been fried to an inch of their life and come out in one piece from breading that could stand up on its own. These were refreshing in an area where deep fried food can leave you feeling heavy for hours. The bang bang shrimp were delicious, similar battering and frying with a thai chili style sauce. It is not very spicy, but the problem was deciding on what kidn of salad dressing to get with it on a salad. I recommend not getting the salad and just an order of shrimp with ranch. The salad was romaine and parm shavings. No other vegetables to speak of, but the shrimp was phenomenal. Additionally the lobster comes with butter, wet naps and an additional tray for the shell as you work your way t hrough. A nice setup, a nice view, and good food.

Order at the counter inside their little shop, pay, and head down the little alley (hold on tightly to your stuff so you don't accidentally drop anything enroute) to their back deck with limited seating, and access to their bathrooms. Listen up for your name and they will bring you your food on a tray. A family of three shared the 3 chicken lobsters for $50 during the 2025 season, and a dozen raw oysters for $30. My single lobster was $18. Single oysters $3 apiece. Creamy clam chowder $7. Stuffed clam $3. The $30 cold lobster roll came with cole slaw and a bag of chips. The hot dog roll looked small but was well filled with fresh sweet lobster meat. Her smoked salmon $8 were two thick chunks of fish. My hot in-shell boiled lobster arrived several minutes after, pre-cracked. Carefully poured out the green water, and I went at it. Making use of the sink by the bathroom afterwards to get cleaned up. A delicious way to start our outing to Rockport! BTW parking in the nearby area is paid and seasonal. Head to the kiosk, enter the license plate, pay an affordable price, and stick the slip on your dashboard. Parking tickets are no fun.

Nicely portioned, flaky piece of fish with fresh lettuce, tomato and thinly sliced onion. The fries were crisp, hot and salted perfectly. The tartar sauce was predictably if uneventful at best. The fried shrimp and fish n chips were cooked perfectly and portioned well. The ambiance was nice, decor is contemporary nautical, elegant and tasteful. As the crowd gathered, the noise level became unbearable. Couldn't hold a conversation without shouting across our tiny table. Our server was pulling double duty as bartender and handling two tables across from the bar which was unmanageable for one person. Service was slow... like really slow. 120 min for three fried entrees and one app. and we weren't in a rush but it took forever. I felt badly as they could have easily turned this table 2-3 times more than they did. Beer was cold. Ice water was aplenty. Food 7/10. Service was polite and friendly but slow as molasses. They need a full time bartender asap at least for weekend evenings when it's busier. For some added yet unexpected entertainment a rude senior was addressed by the manager for clanging his silverware on a glass for no reason other than to be rude and annoying while trying to get the attention of his server. This caused a bit of a stir because he raised his voice in disdain to being criticized for not acting appropriately. His childish tantrum was handled efficiently by the manager. She admirably suggested he leave the premises which would have been supported by the other patrons. Those present seemed to think an apology by this customer to the server for being disrespectful was in order but that didn't happen. Just an unfortunate event for an already struggling staff trying to shake things out at a newer business. The server didn't deserve this at all.
