Fun place and a great place to eat at the bar. We were visiting from Phoenix. My wife is originally from the area and so it was fun to engage with the locals, patrons and bartenders. The lobster roll here is very very good. So are the crab cakes. Now the key lime pie is another story. Off the charts good and the serving is not a slice it is an entire deep dish key lime pie and one of the best I have ever had. Overall, good seafood place, but definitely some problems too. We ordered the grilled octopus appetizer, and the cioppino and Chilean sea bass as mains. The octopus was puzzling because some parts were really tasty but other parts were rubbery and weird -- almost like freezer-burned or overcooked. I wasn't a fan of the feta and olives it came with but the cucumber and tomato were fine. The Chilean sea bass was amazing. Great portion size, texture, and flavor. Truly excellent. However, the potatoes and spinach that it was served on were unbelievably salty!!! We told our server and she shrugged and told us we were just tasting the seasoning mix... said she couldn't do anything about it. Ok, but even unseasoned potatoes would be better. The cioppino was seafoody and flavorful. So yeah, overall tasty but some dishes were very polarizing. The service was fine but could have been more helpful and nice. I liked the restaurant's decorations a lot: colorful fish, propellor fans, cute lights, art. We'd come back for the portion sizes and seafood but beware the potatoe. read more

For my birthday, I was primarily looking for water views when choosing a restaurant but also for delicious food. Unfortunately some of the food was underwhelming. The steak tips and fries were okay. The clam chowder wasn't hot and didn't seem cooked well enough. The fish tacos and onion rings barely had flavor. The southwest salad overall was good/fresh but the chicken also lacked some flavor. The salad dressing helped. For the too high price we paid and the lack of satisfaction with the food, we wouldn't return. The views were generally nice if you like to see a lot of marine industrial equipment. The front desk woman didn't smile at all and seemed to question our desire to eat outside rather than inside even tho we were willing to wait. However, the waitress was nice. read more

First I must give a shout out to SOFIA. She made our experience so memorable. I am very high maintenance, but she filled every request I had. A beautiful seaside restaurant with amazing service. Jody was a delight and kept checking on guests from the food to the temperature which was so appreciated! They have clear tarps to keep the wind out or the heat in which is nice. Very busy on a beautiful Saturday. But without reservations got seated after 30 minutes not too bad at all. They have a fairly easy to access bar and seating area so we took advantage of that and had a beverage while we waited. Bar service was quick and friendly. Best drink we ordered was the seasonal Apple Cider Caramel Mimosa. Once seated we started off with the scallops which were cooked to perfection and the corn dish they were served over was so flavorful. I got the braised short rib. It was absolutely the best short rib I've ever had. My friends got the haddock sandwich and I don't think the photos I took do it justice because it just looks like a big leaf of lettuce but underneath that lettuce was the biggest juiciest flavorful haddock. It was such a delicious dish! This is a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back. read more

I enjoyed the Seaport Grille! I know it has a mixed bag from some of the other reviewers, but my food, as well as my friends, was really good. So, either we went there on a good day in July, or the food is actually really good, and FRESH. I'll be fair and go with the latter, since we were all satisfied. The portions were big enough to have leftovers the next day. I was full all afternoon, so I wasn't hungry that night. It was a beautiful day out and we were seated near a window, which was nice. I mean, it's not an airport view looking over the water at the Boston Skyline, but it was a nice, fisherman town view, and I loved it! Service was good, too, and food came reasonably quick. Enjoy! Seaport Grille ended up being a back-up for us - we originally wanted to try Roy Moore's but it was impossible to find parking in Rockport - but the food/service here were excellent. Definitely worth a stop, though come early for weekend lunch or make a reservation, especially if you're coming as a larger group. We didn't have to wait when we got there right at noon; when we finished about an hour later, they had set up a cocktail section out front for the overflow. Our waiter was super friendly and personable and, judging from his interactions with the tables around us, lots of regulars frequent the place, which is always a good sign. However, the front of the house, with four or five ladies clustered around the hostess stand, gave off some frosty, Mean-Girl vibes. You know that back of the neck feeling when someone gives you the up-down look over? Not to mention they put us at a not-so-great table at first - the booth right by the server station. Thankfully, after we asked to be moved, we got a much nicer table near the patio, with a view of the dock. The food was delicious. We over-ordered, as always: a dozen oysters, crab cakes, and the clam chowder to start. Oysters were large, well-shucked, plump (running out of adjectives to describe how much better the oysters are here compared to NYC). Chowder has become that dish on the menu that we have to order each time we see it. Really nice and thick, lots of clams and potatoes. I keep forgetting to ask for some hot sauce to add. I thought the crab cake was all right - a touch too fried for me, but lots of genuine-article crab meat, no filler. I had the Caesar with scallops on the side. The scallops were absolutely fire, grilled expertly, delicate and tender on the inside with a wonderful char. The salads are huge. If you order some protein with it, definitely enough for two people. We walked over for a late lunch after going on the Cape Ann Whale Watch. Expected a casual and ok quick meal. WOW not what happened. We were seated inside and served quickly. The menu was varied and once I saw they had Halibut that was what We both chose. SO happy We did. Fresh and delicious! The generous portion was served over ample asparagus spears lightly covered in a wonderful lemon, garlic cream sauce. Fish was perfectly grilled. If Only We had been staying in Gloucester...we would have gone back daily. None of the overpriced Tourist type meals like other SeaCoast towns. This Seafood is quality and Fresh. May 8, 2025 This was our first time to Gloucester, and we were staying at an affiliate hotel, the Beauport for a wedding. The concierge was very nice and recommended this restaurant because it was on the water and it was lobster role Thursday. That meant $24.00 at lunch vs. $36.00, I think. Never having had a lobster roll we said sign us up. The day was nice, and my wife and I made the long walk to the restaurant and sat at a high table in the shade outside. Our server Christine was nice, so service and ambiance is a 5. The food on the other had was not good. We had one lobster role each. One with mayo and other with melted butter. The lobster was too chewy to eat. Not fresh? Overcooked? Don't know. But won't be eating there again. read more

Last week while on vacation, my sister and I m, at the recommendation of one of the locals, ate lunch at Seaport Grille. We were NOT disappointed! We were greeted with warm friendly smiles, our waitress was outstanding, the view was gorgeous looking out into the Atlantic Ocean, AND the food was "slap yo momma" good. We shared the firecracker shrimp and had planned to share the clam chowder soup, but our waitress simply gave each of us a bowl--talk about above and beyond customer service! I had the haddock sandwich with fries and my sister had the fried oysters with coleslaw and fries. They make their fries in house--whew, talk about goood!! AND the portion sizes are plentiful. I sat at the bar for the first time and Im actually so disappointed. Service was subpar, they were quick to take my order but continuously checked on the people around me, never me. I sat with an empty drink for several minutes while the people next to me were asked if they wanted refills! People can go out alone and tip just as much if not better.
