I understood the diagnostic fee of $129. He removed the inside back of the freezer to show me the fan was not blowing, and I asked him to change the water filter why he was there and I was paying the $129. Told me it was cost $689 to replace the part. I looked up the part, it is under $20. Since I did not want him to order it for me, I was still charged $50 over the diagnostic fee for him to diagnose it. I am unhappy with that extra charge. He seemed like a nice person. We recently had a refrigerator that still has a warranty on it quit working. We contacted Sears to make an appointment and at first were told that it would be a couple weeks out. A bit of a problem when your food needs to be refrigerated. After several phone calls got an appointment fairly quickly. The day of the appointment we got messages 3 times, each delaying the appointment by several hours until the end of the day. After 3 appointments and cancellations we finally got an appointment for 3 weeks out. REALLY, 3 weeks. And we were not able to talk to a person. What a bunch of crap. If I had known how great their service was i would never had purchased their appliance and will not recommend them to anyone unless I don't like them. read more

Another subject it cost me $380.00 to have them repair my Samsung refrigerator that didn't work for over a year. Two times in a row that the appointment windows came and went and over two hours AFTER the close of the appointment window did they send me a cowardly text telling me that my appointment had been canceled for 2 different excuses. You're telling me you were due between one and 5 PM, and it was 7 PM before you figured out that you weren't going to make your appointment by 5 PM? Seriously disappointed with Sears. I've bought Kenmore appliances for decades, but no more, I have a Kenmore front load washer and needed to have to door reversed. So I called Sears Appliance Repair to see if the door would reverse. The person I spoke with assured me it could be done and I would be charged an $89 service fee. I didn't want to pay someone $89 to find out it wasn't possible and repeated this to the person making the appointment. The tech showed up, told us the door could not be reversed and charged us $99. (Since then I have learned that the salesman should have informed us that the door could not be reversed, but failed to tell us this.) I've disputed the charge with Sears, but they won't even refund the extra $10. Since they're going out of business anyway, it's pretty useless to say I won't buy another Kenmore product, and I'm stuck with an expensive washer that's extremely difficult to load and unload. read more

I give Sears a no star but there was no place to do that. I have had a Sears maintenance agreement on my refrigerator for over 30 years and pay yearly and have all these years. They told me that if it goes out and they cannot find a part for it any longer that they would pay us money toward a new refrigerator comparable to what we had. We believed them and trusted them. We have paid faithfully through the years and I went to renew my maintenance agreement today with Sears only to be told by a rep whose name was Anna that they no longer will guarantee my refrigerator since it is over 14 years old and that I would have to pay $49.99 a month for to have my refrigerator and other appliance guaranteed. I told her my other appliance have already got coverage and I just want to continue my refrigerator. She said they will not cover it any longer but they sure collected yearly from me all these years to keep my refrigerator under warranty. This company is a fraud and a scam and I would tell people stay away from anything affiliated with Sears. They are dishonest and will rob you blind. What used to be a highly reputable and esteemed company is now nothing but thieves now. PLEASE be warned... read more

Bottomline - They will charge you diagnostic fee even if they know that parts not available. This is a scam service. You can not contact a manager via phone, email, or regular mail to file a complaint. On 7/2/19 scheduled service on Sears range; gave model number of range and explained issue with temperature display. Also scheduled service for our leaking Sears dishwasher. Sears repair technicians came on July 3rd to repair range, charged diagnostic fee, scheduled another appointment for 7/19 and supposedly ordered part for range. Charged us for diagnosis, the part and labor to be performed at next visit. Told us the part would be shipped to us. Also did same for our Sears dishwasher. Parts arrived for dishwasher prior to 7/19; nothing for the range. Technician arrived 7/19 during scheduled hours and performed repair of dishwasher but did nothing for the range. He assured us parts would come sometime soon, and that we should call them to schedule another visit to fix the range, after the parts arrived. We waited 10 more days and still no parts for the range. On 7/29 called Sears service, talking to several people in scheduling and parts and was told that the part order was cancelled on July 3rd (the same day the original visit by their two technicians who supposedly ordered it that day!). They told us that we needed to order the part again. We explained it wasn't us who ordered the part, it was their technicians who ordered on the first visit, and they should be ordering it again (since we had already paid for it 4 weeks ago). Then they scheduled a technician to come here on July 31 (between 8 am and 12 noon) to fix the range and stated that the technician would be bring the part. Technician showed up around 4 pm (i.e. we waited 8 hours for him to show up). He did not bring parts. He looked at range again and called for someone to assist with support. He had multiple telephone conversations with his support people. The technician was told to leave our presence and to discuss our situation in private. During that conversation, he told us he found out that the electronic board that needed to be replaced was no longer orderable. Then he advised us that it may be necessary to remove the board from our range, send it to a center where it would be repaired, then reinstall our board into the range after it was shipped. Finally, after more consultation, the technician told us that the board needed is no longer available nor is it repairable. He put in a request to get us a refund. On August 1st I called to find out what was happening with our refund and if it was in the system. The first person I spoke to said I should be getting a "full" refund including the diagnostic fee after she heard what we had experienced, however, she was not able to process the refund. She forwarded me to another person who also said they couldn't process the refund and we should just wait up to 21 days to see if refund arrives. I said this was not acceptable and asked to be transferred to a supervisor. I was told there were no supervisors available and I should call a specific number, however, someone should be calling me to discuss our situation. I waited until Aug 6th and didn't receive a call and tried the phone number supplied, it was not a working number. So, I call their general number and spoke to an agent, immediately asking for a supervisor. After having to explain the whole situation again I was finally referred to a supervisor who said they would refund the part we paid for (which doesn't exist) but would not refund the diagnostic fee. I asked to speak to her manager and was told managers do not talk to customers. I asked for a mailing address or email address where I can send a complaint and was told they do not disclose any addresses. Basically, we have no way to escalate our request for a full refund for the misleading, dishonest, and lack of service received. From the very beginning, Sears Home Service should have told us that there are no parts available for our range. We should get a "full" refund for diagnostic fee, parts, and labor. I feel this is a scam to get fees even though Sears knew that parts would not be available for our range. read more

I wish I could give zero stars instead of one star. Scheduling is sent out to a third-party person in another country and the only information she got right was my credit card number. The technician was a no-show. When I called back they promised to call me back within 2hours to reschedule and they never called. There is no opportunity to speak to a supervisor or anyone who speaks English or resides in America. I wound up calling Sears back at least four or five times and sometimes the call would drop in the middle of it. A total waste of my day and they took my money and never showed up. Well if this isn't the biggest SCAM in disguise as a legitimate company. I called Monday because my washer broke suddenly after my dryer started making a high pitched squealing noise a few days prior that made me not want to use it. I called to schedule both to be repaired at the same time. I specified that they were stacked units. The customer service agent who made the appointment then informed me that each unit is considered a seperate repair and I would have to pay $89 TWICE for the technician to drive to my house ONCE. Other repair companies give you a discount on the 2nd and subsequent repairs done at the same time as the initial appliance appointment but no, not Sears! The customer service agent then told me that I could sign up for the SEARS Home Warranty program for $49.99 per month and not have to pay the $178 in service repairs so of course I did that plus it gives some other perks that sounded good and useful for the repairs of the appliances and other items in my house. The technician showed up the day of the appointment only to inform that he can't do anything because they are stacked units and I have to reschedule the appointment(s) and request a buddy to help unstack the units. I did tell them this in my first call!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember???? That appointment will be $150 TWICE! I called the Home Warranty phone number to ask about that after he left, having done NOTHING, and was informed a) I was already charged the $49.99 for the home warranty b) I have now been charged $178 for the technician coming today even though I was told that I wasn't going to be charged that when making the appointment on Monday, and c) I would have to pay $300 when he came back. So that is $522 for NOTHING! They haven't even looked at, diagnosed, and repaired ANYTHING IN MY HOME! I could by a new washer and dryer for that much money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You better believe I am absolutely mad and will be disputing every charge with my credit card company. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS. The technician was nice though. I liked him. I called the Sears Repair 800 number, gave the serial number for the Kenmore appliance that was causing problems, and described the issue and the part that needed replacing. They did not look up the serial number to find out if a replacement part was available. Instead they dispatched repair techs out to my place. They arrived, spent 5 minutes looking at my appliance and "looking up the part online" using the same serial number that I gave to the company over the phone. They told me no parts were available for an appliance as old as mine, billed me $89 for the service call, and left. That sounded suspicious so I called Sears Parts Direct and they said that a part WAS available for my appliance, and it was guaranteed money back to work on my appliance. I ordered the part and installed it myself. The "repair techs" were either dishonest or incompetent; either way I didn't want them back in my house, so I did the job myself. Contacted them again after a week and was told after 5 phone calls and being hung up on 3 times that the tech had closed the ticket and my washing machine was repaired, WTF? Refused to contact the tech, told me I was a liar, because they show the washer as being repaired. MORONS!!!! They were willing to have a new tech come out in 2 weeks to start the process over again. Worst service I've ever had pretty much a scam. I specifically asked for a technician to come with the tools and parts to fix my hot water heater and asked that it be noted in my service request. Reason being was that I was already aware of the issue thanks to a video on YouTube showing how to trouble shoot a or water heater. The technician was 1.5hrs past the 4hour window already allotted. After telling me what I already knew about my heating element being broken the technician then informed me Sears doesn't supply him with tools or parts to fix a hot water heater. So even after I asked Sears not to send a technician if he doesn't have the tools or parts to fix my hot water heater Sears still did. Now I have a bill for 99$ and after speaking with there customer service they would not honor the request I made previous to my appointment. They said it's there procedure to first charge for a diagnostic regardless of what the customer asked. In this case they couldn't perform the repair either way so really where is the service? read more

ok here's my rant ! I bought a new ref/ freezer last August from Sears ! In March them temp control went out, I lost every thing in freezer and ref. they came out and fixed it. On May 13th the refig. was hot and the freezer was as well, lost every thing again. I called the repair man , 2 days later he showed up. He says the coolent line has a leek, and I cannot fix it. He calls his boss, who says they will have to contact Sears and tell them . so 9 days later Sears finally sends out another tech. He says oh this is a hard fix and I will have to order a new part and I have a appointment on JUNE 14th at 11:00 ! I said that's a MONTH away ! so on JUNE 14 th he is a no show ! I called Sears again, I was told he cancelled my appt.! got a new appt for June23rd 8-12:00, time comes and goes no repair man !!! I called Sears again, they have tech call me , oh I will try and be there by 2:00, he shows up at 2:45 and tells me he needs to do some welding on the refrig/freezer, next thing I know he tells me that he touched the inside of the freezer with his tourch and melted the inside pannel , sorry , your husband can just fix it. I told customer service about it and they refuse to replace my ref/freezer ! lesson learned DON"T BUY ANY APPLIANCE FROM SEARS ! P.S. I bought a 5 year warrantee with this piece of JUNK !! read more
