Not in California (as the review defaulted) but I'm in Southaven, MS. Same crappy service. Different location. I just read another person's review regarding a dishwasher repair in 2023... Here I am in 2024 dealing with American Home Shield and Sears with the SAME experience. The first appointment was to diagnose. A part was ordered and it arrived within a couple of days (weeks ago). My first available appointment was on Saturday. I sat and waited. No call. The email updated bumping my appointment to 9/19 with no warning and no explanation. I attempted to call and got nothing but an automated system. AHS claimed they couldn't help me, which was crazy since THEY are the ones I pay. Then, on 9/17 I got a text stating they could move my appointment up to today 9/18. I agreed. It was confirmed. The repair was to take place anywhere from 7:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. Around 2:30, I got a call from the tech stating there is no way he can get to me today. They overscheduled. (not my problem). Again, I tried to call. No way to talk to a LIVE person at the number we're given. I reached back out to AHS and was told they would 'email Sears'. I have never seen such a LACK of service in MY life over something that is probably not that complicated to fix. Customers get no benefit....just sit and wait as if hostages to get something fixed that you PAID FOR to be fixed! I'm so over "Sears". If I EVER need a repair for ANYTHING I will immediately take a cash out payment from American Home Shield before I fool with them! read more

We have had the warranty from Sears ever since we bought the refrigerator. They always make one trip, order the part and then come back to repair it. Problem is you cannot rely on them to come when they say they are. You make the appointment, and they have a 4 or 5 hour time frame. They were supposed to be here today before 12 pm. It is now 3:30 and no service tech or phone call. We have had the service people tell us that they should be replacing the fridge but the warranty company will not do it. The at home warranty people do not even follow their own guidelines This is the problem ever since we bought the fridge and policy from sears several years ago and we do not have ice probably 3 months out of the year. They need to honor replacement policy when it is an ongoing problem. I will never buy another one from Sears. read more

Unfortunately this is who our home warranty chose to contract with. Fridge has been broken for 2 months. We've had 4 different technicians come out, and 3 additional no shows. So 7 total appointments so far, and still not fixed. And 2 of the 3 no shows I witnessed sitting in a vehicle out front, then driving away. Super frustrating, definitely do not recommend. read more

My home warranty company sent these people out! The first technician arrived and diagnosed the problem and ordered parts. Parts were received and second appointment was set. They didn't call or show no explanation but later found out they said we didn't have all the parts. Reached out to warranty company and let them know again that parts were received, so another appointment was set up. Technician came out and he was supposed to be a supervisor, he said the first guy ordered the wrong parts, so he ordered 1 more part and said he would be out the following week. Another no call no show but got an email that our appointment was rescheduled for 2 weeks later, no reason as to why, nothing. We called home warranty company again, confirmed we got all 6 parts and so they rescheduled for Saturday today. Been waiting all day, then look at my phone and there's 2 emails. One said your service request has been completed and parts have been ordered, like someone had been here, which they have not. The next email said these are the parts that have been ordered, that you and the technician went over and that you signed for. I open the pdf and in the signature box there is a X , not my signature because of course the technician never came to my house. Then the next email says my new appointment in June 14, again 2 weeks away! We are now into 7 weeks since they first came out. And still not fixed. I contacted home warranty again and they are waiting on a response back. In the mean time I finally found a number for Sears that somebody finally answered, told them the whole situation, again went through each part that I had in front of me one at a time, for a total of 6 parts. Which we have had for weeks now. The guy is sending it to their backoffice, whatever that us, for a resolution. So 3 no call no shows, 7 weeks into this repair mess. Subcontractor Gold Coast did a good job *but* the ordered parts took more than twice as long as predicted and no one contacted me until I called Sears. Joe was friendly, respectful, efficient, diagnosed the problem and ordered parts. He told me something to the effect that it would take about 7-10 days and I'd be contacted. The parts apparently took 26 days; I called Sears after 2 weeks had passed with no washer and no contact from Gold Coast. The Sears CSA called them; they were closed for the day so the Sears person left a message. I got a somewhat apologetic call the next day, explaining that they were still waiting on a part, it was taking longer than expected. We made an appointment for the next week. Joe arrived within the appointment window and quickly finished the job. So... Sears customer service and the actual repair tech did great, but there was a serious communication problem-- since the part was taking more than twice as much time as usual, they should have called me. I have extended service contracts and have received frequent repair services in the past 10 years, and this is one of the times there was an issue. read more

I inquired about the warranty on the part to my refrigerator because it had not been a year since it was repaired. I was told that the repair tech would have to diagnose the issue. When the repair guy got here, he told me that parts only have a 30 warranty. If I had of been told that when I inquired, I would not have wasted $152.55. Plus, a whole day off of work by having the tech come. The person that I chatted with was more interested in selling me the home warranty from Sears instead of giving me correct information for my question. The repair guy was very nice. This 1 star is not for him. He knew immediately what was wrong and was very nice. The refrigerator is only 3 years old, and this is the second time with the same issue. My parents always bought Kenmore products. I will not purchase any more products from Sears. If anyone is interested, I have a Kenmore refrigerator with the French doors for cheap! read more

I would say that the technician resolved my issue of the water level not cutting off. Basically the line came a loose and he put it back on , 1 second, and then tied it with zip tie. I appreciate his willingness to look at another issue after I left the area on the washer as well. He saved me some money . read more

Do not use Sears HVAC repairs. Unfortunately this is who was assigned to me through my home warranty company. The first person they sent out could not find anything wrong with my air. It had been out for 4 days. They had to send out another technician which took another stretch of time due to the Labor Day holiday. This one found a broken capacitor and replaced it. this was supposed to have fixed it. Not!!! Maybe an hour after technician left the air started making very loud noises then finally stopped completely. I called and lo and behold I had to wait another 2 days to get a 3rd technician here. It is 86 in my home. I have been without air for 8 straight days with no relief from Sears at all. They are due here in the am but I am not expecting much out of them. Thank goodness I am switching home warranty companies and hopefully will never have to deal with Sears again. read more

I am very dissatisfied with my home improvement project. I was overcharged for the unprofessional work that was done. 1. Focus was not my home. 2. Did not pay attention to details,(small things left undone). 3. Put a hole in washroom wall and tried to cover it up with the washer. 4. Broke a new cooktop and Lied and said it came damaged. I saw the cooktop in place and it was not damaged until he lifted it up and dropped it on the countertop. 5. District General Manager is a fast talker, and think he is getting over. 6. NO, I will not recommend Sears Home Improvement. 7. The work at my home look like I hired AMATEURS. 8. Before I paid my balance, I had not done a precise check. read more

I purchased the one year service contract after my ice maker failed. After three visits and two control boards, the technician found a severed wire that was the actual problem. He told me he fixed it. Three days later the ice maker stopped working again. I found the wire he "fixed". All he did was wrap a little electrical tape around it. Not only was that a bad fix, it was a hazard to my children because the wire was exposed when the freezer door is open. I fixed it correctly myself. I don't trust Sears to do it now. I asked for a refund of my service contract and was denied. Call someone else! read more

We had Sears come out to repair our furnace through the Sears Warranty. Curt was the name of the technician they assigned to repair our furnace. Our first appointment was scheduled between 8am to 5 pm and around 4:50 pm Curt still hadn't arrived so my husband called Sears and they said that he was running behind and that he would not be able to come in. Curt had not even planned to call us to let us know that he wouldn't be coming. My husband asked if they could still send someone out because this was not the first time that sears made us wait at home all day and then not show up at all, they had done it 4 times before for a refrigerator repair. So they sent Curt anyway, he came in and looked at our furnace and said that the evaporator coil needed to be cleaned and that is not covered by the warranty. We hired someone to clean the coil and had Sears come back out because that did not fix the problem. Curt came back out and said that the problem was that the switch was clogged and that he fixed it. A few hours later, the furnace stopped working again. We called Sears and they sent Curt again the next day, he said that the evaporator coil needed to be cleaned and that it was not "shiny" enough and that was why our furnace was not working. We hired another company to come clean the coil again and the furnace is still not working. read more

BEWARE!! Do not use these people. I had my washer repaired and my dryer cleaned. I was given a receipt and my checks cleared. I received a bill in the mail, called and sent copies of bill and check. Did this twice. MONTHS later I received collection notices. My account had been hacked not long after service so I had a different bank account and wasn't able to get copies of my check again --without a lot of work and expense on my part. Talking to customer service I got a continual run around. No one cared that I had emails from Sears saying it was paid or that I had a RECEIPT!! I would rather wash my clothes by hand on a rock than use Sears for ANYTHING again. read more

We purchased a Kenmore washer in October. It was making horrific clanking noises during different stages of each cycle. Called Sears and was quoted a $79 diagnostic charge plus parts and labor. Repairman came out and after less than 5 minutes told me our water pressure was too high and I needed to place "water hammers" on each water line to absorb the shock. He then charged me $99 plus tax. When I asked why, he told me it's what his charge sheet mandates. He only diagnosed the problem. Very deceptive pricing by Sears. read more

Called Sears Home Services to schedule an appointment to repair a washing machine. It was scheduled for today between 8-5pm. Without calling me, they waited till 7pm to reschedule the appointment for the following monday. I am extremely pissed off about it as I wasted an entire day waiting for them. Purchased a Kenmore refrigerator through Sears and extended warranty a few years back. Spent around $3,000. After only 3 years it went out. For almost 11 months now I have been going back and forth with Sears to get it repaired. They've been out multiple times to "repair" it. After spending 30+ minutes on the phone just to schedule an appointment, they expect you to miss an entire's day work. Their only appointment times are from 8am to 5pm. They will not take notes (and actually go by them) for a convenient time and they call 5 minutes before they are on the way, causing me to have to cancel because I couldn't get back from work in 5 minutes. So, if you can't take an entire day off to sit around and wait for someone to MAYBE be able to fix your refrigerator, don't bother calling them. Btw, when these technicians call they have been given no information from the company on calling or best times as requested. Nor have they been given information on the problem at hand. They expect you, probably not educated in refrigeration repairs, to tell them when they arrive. Sears also just sends a random part after the operator just guesses what it could be, another person who isn't a technician. They do this just so the technician has something to work on while there. It's fake solutions! These technicians btw are a third party not even part of Sears. These operators are in San Antonio, TX while I am in Memphis, TN. Here's the best part, after outsourcing and paying myself for a person to come out (who gave a 10am-12 call time and called 30 minutes before arrival) I found out the problem the entire time was the compressor. In about 20 minutes he got all of this information. He knew before the "diagnostics" what the issue was. He has horror stories told to him daily about Sear's. This is $900 issue that Sears decided to just yank my chain on for 11 months until my warranty is up. Rather than haggle me for $ for him to make repairs, he suggested forcing Sear's to replace or just buy a new one. He was honest and upfront, unlike Sears! 11 months and 3 refrigerators worth of hundreds of dollars of food later I finally know the next step I need to take. This service was for my parents whom are in their 70's. Sears advised that the Tech would be there between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. which pretty much takes their whole day in rescheduling dr. appts as well as any other appt that they may have had. Well the Tech did not show up until 5:05 p.m. He was very nice and fixed the problem with the riding lawnmower but I will not pay the maintenance service again as it is too high of a price when they cannot even make it at a decent time especially when people have things to do and they are late to appt as well as taking the whole day. read more

My refrigerator went out this last Saturday, my Home Warranty scheduled the repair service with Sears. Was scheduled from 8-5 on Tuesday. Was never contacted by the technician, when I called (on Tuesday) to check on it at 4pm, the call center told me it was rescheduled for 6-8pm that night. Was never contacted by a technician still. This morning, called Sears to see what happened and the call center tried to reschedule for Thursday, when I expressed my frustration that "if the tech didn't get to me yesterday, shouldn't I be on the top of his list for today?" the call center guy canceled my appointment completely and I had to start all over with my home warranty company. As of now I have the appointment for Thursday, very frustrated that nothing was done. Christmas right around corner, Fridge broken. read more
