Scammed! Called Sears Home Services of Maplewood MN. Two days ago they sent out a supposedly knowledgeable LG gas dryer repair tech named William Hayes, but he couldn't test it nor fix the reported long drying time issue. Just gave an inadequately vague Diagnosis that it had an airflow/ HVAC issue but he said he couldn't do more since we didn't have a service contract. But we initially requested that it be fixed irregardless of no contract, and we would pay for it. He charged a $139 Diag total fee, giving basically No positive service nor any specific referral. In the future we will no longer do further business with them unless they come back to fix it or else refund a portion of bogus charge instead of scamming us. Edited 1/2/26- We called their emailed phone number to complain about the improper, vague Diagnostic, stating nothing more could be done by tech William anyway. Their cust service lady wouldn't refund any portion of the bad Diagnostic charge to us. We told her we cannot take another chance with them to probably be charged for another vague Diagnostic charge plus we cannot chance that any of their tech can even fix our LG dryer issue. This is not the way to do business especially not giving a refund to us, so will be reporting it to BBB since Sears stated that nothing adequately more can be done! read more

DO NOT use Sears Home Services to repair appliances in your home. We had three technicians come to the house to repair a Frigidaire dishwasher, each of which proposed a new solution and the last repair person lost a part to our dishwasher and we cannot find it. Each of the repair persons was 30+ later than the scheduled arrival time. The first repair person thought it was a seal around the door, ordered the part (because he didn't have it) and then the appointment was rescheduled. The second repair person installed the part and thought the problem was a different part. He ordered that. A third person came and installed the second part. He thought it may be yet another problem. The third person did not reinstall the toe panel at the bottom of the dishwasher and now we cannot find it and he's not answering his phone. If you call the main number, AI will answer the phone. The AI recommended that we schedule another appointment for a fourth repair person to come out and install the part that the third repair person lost. read more

On Feb 2 2025 Sears cam out to do an estimate the Diagnostic fee was 139 On my stove but they charged me 458.27 for the whole repair at that time. They did not come out until 3/3/2025. They had ordered the wrong part I told them that it was not acceptable. The 319.27 was not reversed on my next bill. had to call they said they will reverse it in 15 business days still not reversed 28 business days on my next billing cycle. call my credit card company had the charges reversed they disputed my claim. If this review was just for the technician, Royce, I'd easily give five stars. He quickly addressed the problem, showed me what to do while waiting for the part to arrive, and once he returned the install went very smoothly. The reason for three stars, however, is the scheduling of service, customer service (or lack thereof), and the terrible online system. I scheduled a return visit with Royce for the 26th. The part arrived on the 25th, which the Sears system KNEW because they provided me with the tracking! Yet when I was waiting for my appointment, it was canceled and rescheduled for July 5th because, after I talked to Royce (again, who is fantastic), he said the system was still waiting on a part. Royce made time in his schedule on the 27th and came and fixed the issue. If not for him, I'd never entertain using Sears Home Services again. read more

Attempting to get a technician out to install the new part took Sears Home Services 4 failed attempts because they did not listen when I confirmed each time that the part had arrived. I wasted 4 afternoons waiting for the technician to show up only to be disappointed with no word at all from Sears that they weren't coming. The 5th attempt was successful only because tech Allen decided to personally show up as scheduled even though the Sears system still showed the part as not having arrived - 3 months after the 1st appointment. Three days before Christmas, my dishwasher stopped draining - my stepson figured that possibly the timer needed to be replaced. But we decided that since the dishwasher is still under the Sears Master Extended Warranty, I'd just make an appointment for someone to come out. So the appointment was for December 28 between 8 am and 5 pm, Andre was actually a few minutes early and called me when he was on his way. He seemed very knowledgeable and said that he would order three parts to be delivered to me. He scheduled a follow-up appointment for January 4. The day before that appointment, I had only received one of the parts, so I called to ask if I should reschedule the appointment. I was told by the woman who answered that yes, I should reschedule, and hopefully the other parts would arrive soon. So the appointment was rescheduled, but at 10:30 am the day of that appointment I got a call saying Andre had an emergency and wouldn't be in that day. The appointment was rescheduled for January 23, and a different man came - he went through all the same diagnostics that Andre had done. He installed the timer but it still didn't work; he showed me a schematics diagram on his phone that was impossible to view (he was frustrated), said he would do some research and order other parts, and the next follow-up appointment was scheduled for February 6. Two more parts arrived a few days later. I received multiple text messages three days in a row reminding me of my February 6 appointment, and I responded with a "1" as requested to confirm. At 10:27 am on February 6 I received yet another text confirming my appointment for that day. Nobody showed up, however - late in the afternoon I received a phone call with a recorded message telling me that my appointment had been rescheduled for February 7 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. By 11:30 on February 7, I hadn't heard from anyone - no phone calls from the repairmen, no recorded messages or reminder texts - so I signed into my account online to check the appointment. There was nothing listed at all except to say that the December 28 appointment was cancelled (it hadn't been cancelled - that's the day that Andre came out). So I opened a Chat window and spent nearly an hour explaining and discussing my frustrations with someone who could not explain what happened, who couldn't do anything about it, who couldn't transfer me over to a manager, and who didn't care a whit. A half-hour after I closed the chat, I got a text message saying that my appointment has been rescheduled for February 15. I had already had told the chat person that I was not available that day. I put in the make and model - agreed to their service call fee and then waited over two weeks. This morning a tech calls - their 8-hour service call window had already started. He asked about the make and model, which was in the order, and then told me they don't do that one. The manufacturer was in their drop down menu and this was their most common model. Had my washing machine drain pump go out (I've worked on these things myself so I know what I'm looking at) I didn't have time to repair this myself so called in a service request (also to see how this was going to go) first repair date canceled do to weather, second service date I called them to make sure they had the pump with them, showed up with no pump (even though I called them ahead of time and gave them there own part number) $120 to tell me it's a bad pump and it will be another week (now we're into our third week) repair only took about an hour, service guys where great, scheduling was tarrible, communication was even worse, I wouldn't recommend Sears to my worst enemy. read more

Don't go with Sears if you can avoid it. My year-old Kenmore Elite refrigerator went out when a power outage came back on. Whatever - they don't make them like they used to. So they send a repair guy out to do the repair. Even though it's under manufacture warranty I still pay $450 for the guy to bolt a new compressor on. He was done in no time flat. Now I know why - he did a crappy job. There has been a slow leak because his soldering was not good enough and now there is not enough refrigerant to make the freezer freeze. $300 worth of food is shot. There is a 90-day warranty on the quality of the workmanship, and I'm outside that window. So they are offering that I pay another $450 and have some other tech from their supply do the work. I'd be foolish to go that way. I found someone else. Again, I do not recommend using Sears repair for anything. Also, I tried to call any kind of customer support, and there is no such thing. All automated. I talked to chat person (or was he?) and they confirmed that there is a 90-day on warranty and I would have to pay again. it was terrible. the technician that showed up did not even touch my dryer. I communicated what the issue was, he just said that that the error code d80 had nothing to do with him. But when I submitted the claim I described the error code and what it meant in great detail. I provided the picture of the error code , I provided a narrative based explanation of this error code. So the technician shows up, I explain the error code, he spends 30 seconds standing next to my dryer, calls me over, then tells me what error code d80 means (which is exactly what I had described in my claim). Then he tells me, I can not help you, but I showed up so you owe 100 dollars. Then he starts demanding 100 for not even touching my dryer and for merely googling what error code meant. I asked him why he was dispatched. He responded that the issue was not communicated to him, even though I described it in my claim in detail and provided a screanshot of the error message. He refused to touch my dryer to see if anything else was wrong with it. He told me since he showed up I need to pay him 100 dollars. When I asked him to wait until I call home warranty company, he told me he had no time to wait and the bill will go to collection. i would like sears work with the home warranty company to make sure that no bill will be sent to me, otherwise it will be a scam practice to dispatch the technicians to people houses that should have never been dispatched and then attempt to exert money from customers because the technician showed up and googled what the error code meant, which the customer already knew. The guy, Jeffrey was very rude. When I called sears they provided no help over the phone and told me to deal with home warranty company. Oven needed a new ignitor. Service came out in October charged me $550+ and ordered the ignitor. It arrived in an unpadded box, shattered. I returned it and waited for the replacement part, same thing. After 2 months of waiting, I cancelled the order. Now I have been fighting with them for a month to get a refund. Long story short, they had re-scheduled on us FOUR times and we were without a working fridge for a full month plus waiting for them to repair it. The WORST experience. I can't even begin to describe the mess. Starting with a fraudulent diagnosis, the technician said it was a broken pump and charged me over $440 to do the whole repair. But he never even looked inside the machine. Right after he left I was so suspicious about the "broken pump" that I took off the kickplate and found a technical sheet that showed how to do a pump diagnosis from the control panel. I ran this, it showed the pump wasn't faulty, and it drained the system. Problem solved. So I called right away, and had to then make multiple calls to cancel: "Yes it's cancelled, we're refunding your money." And then I would get a call a few days later confirming the appointment. This happened about 4-5 times. Parts were sent to me even though the said they cancelled that numerous times. When I returned the parts via their channels, they claimed they didn't receive them (until I came up with the return confirmation and signature). Multiple multiple promises to refund my money. Now almost six weeks later I'm still waiting for my refund. No wonder they're going bankrupt. read more

We needed to wait 3 weeks to have a service person come out to diagnose the problem with our refrigerator, then 2 more weeks for parts and another service appointment. We had a code error as soon a our serviceperson left, we called the next morning to ask how to clear the code. We were told we'd need to wait 3 weeks for another appointment and another $169 service fee since it was not the same problem-even though the code error showed up right after the serviceperson left our home.
