It's quite a bit more upscale than what is in the offerings than other places, but I think there are bargains to be had. Definitely worth visiting.

There is plenty of seating available, including study books and a large table area for puzzles. Snacks and drinks are available. I left with a couple of books and a cute little pouch and didn't feel overpriced. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Definitely stop by if in the area.

As I pulled into the parking lot, I didn't have many expectations. However, when I walked through the door, I was quickly proven incorrect! TYB is a cute, quaint bookstore that is filled with a great amount of books by genre and for a variety of readers. The staffer that was there was extremely helpful and happy to share some ideas for the book for me to purchase. I was in need of a book for my work travel, since I'd accidentally read my book too fast and did not bring up a backup book (rookie mistake). I perused the romance section, new releases, sale section, staff picks, and every nook and cranny of the bookstore. I finally settled on a new release, which was actually a signed copy -- bonus for me! I also snagged a really cute book for me (soon to be) nephew, as I've been building out his library as I've been building out mine with my independent book store visits! Overall, this is a great store for Birmingham, as they don't have a huge local bookstore options. If I'm back in the area, I'll definitely stop by and grab a book...or three! Well, I revisited Sozo Trading Co. today and I was greeted warmly again when I entered the store…read more The clothing selection looked just as great as it did the last time I was in the store and I also noticed other things such as beautiful glassware, dishes, sturdy furniture, electronics, a variety of linens plus several light fixtures and nice lamps. And then I noticed the jewelry, because the last time I visited I was looking for mystery jewelry jars and today I was happy to see five or six baggies absolutely full of costume jewelry that appeared wearable along with beads and watch parts and just everything I could use for crafting and repurposing with jewelry. So, I purchased two jewelry bags and the contents did not disappoint me when I opened them at home. So, it was another productive and great day shopping at Sozo Trading Co. In addition, there is always plenty of free parking and if you have the time there are a couple of restaurants nearby.

You have to drive down a cobblestone street and pay for parking. So to drive all the way there and find them closed when it said they'd be open was frustrating. I understand being a new business owner is hard, but you have to be consistent. You cannot expect people to monitor your social media. That's what posted hours are for. Going to be difficult to sell anything if you're rarely open or not open when you're supposed to be.

If you go and don't find what you're looking for, stop back another day. If you see something you want, get it then because someone else will beat you to it! Prices have gone up over the years but you're still saving money from what the item originally cost. Lovelady Center, located not far from the store, helps women get back on their feet after going through tough times. They turn your donations into profit that helps them support their residents. In fact, most, if not all, the ladies that work here, are connected to Lovelady in some way. They are either current residents or have been helped in the past. You should really look up their story.
