[Out-of-Towner Review] The name had me swooning before I even arrived. This independent bookstore is nestled in a non-descript shopping center with a variety of restaurants and shops. As I pulled into the parking lot, I didn't have many expectations. However, when I walked through the door, I was quickly proven incorrect! TYB is a cute, quaint bookstore that is filled with a great amount of books by genre and for a variety of readers. The staffer that was there was extremely helpful and happy to share some ideas for the book for me to purchase. I was in need of a book for my work travel, since I'd accidentally read my book too fast and did not bring up a backup book (rookie mistake). I perused the romance section, new releases, sale section, staff picks, and every nook and cranny of the bookstore. I finally settled on a new release, which was actually a signed copy -- bonus for me! I also snagged a really cute book for me (soon to be) nephew, as I've been building out his library as I've been building out mine with my independent book store visits! Overall, this is a great store for Birmingham, as they don't have a huge local bookstore options. If I'm back in the area, I'll definitely stop by and grab a book...or three! This is a cute , quaint bookstore. I enjoyed my first time visit. Friendly staff. Pricing is on par for this kind of bookstore. The inside of the bookstore is arranged nicely. They have "thank you" merch as well. It's really cute. I loved their greeting card selection. All were unique and funny! I didn't purchase anything but I plan to come back really soon. What a cute bookstore. I was browsing and stumbled upon a recommendation card from an employee regarding a series. I wanted to know more and it just so happened that the employee working that day was the one that wrote the card! She was super helpful and we also talked about one of the books I ended up buying because she had also read it. They have a good selection considering the size. Really cool book store. Wish this was closer to me. Everything was well organized. They have a book club that includes signed first editions every month. Would love to join this! So cool. You could also find signed copies of books in the store. The store was actually pretty busy when we visited. They have a good sized children's section. Have you been to Thank You Books yet?! What are you waiting on? I LOVE this cute little bookstore because it's close to me and I have been waiting on it to open since fall '19! I'm that geek who would stop by and peep in the windows during the renovations! Enough about me! Ok, first thing you need to know is that you WILL spend some money! Even if you go in with a budget, you'll probably go OVER budget. I do it every single time! Between the merchandise, kids section, YA section, journals and writing section (and cute pens), there's so much more to look at and buy other than books! But yes, there are the books! Second, the lovely women owners have curated such a wide variety of books and featured authors. And they have a very active IG feed so you'll always know what's going on. Did I mention the cute journals and pens! An excellent place to purchase gifts for the book lover in your life. And yes, they have gift cards!!! On Saturday mornings they have story time for the kids. And even during this "social distancing" time, they will read via IG so your kids never have to miss story time from Miss Laura! And right now there is also a virtual book club so check their IG and FB pages! It feels like I've known the owners forever because they treat all of their customers like friends! The store is located in such an awesome place...next door to the ice cream shoppe, down from Subway, a trendy bar and of course a coffee shop. It's pretty easy to find...just look for The Filling Station restaurant and you'll see Thank You Books tucked away near the end of the shopping center adjacent to the restaurant! Of course the store is technically closed as a non-essential business [though I disagree because it is VERY essential for us book lovers :-( ], but you can always order from their website and/or use Bookshop which is like Amazon except your local bookstore gets a percentage of the sales! Cool right? Wouldn't you rather spend your money with a local business? Yesssss! And a reminder...you WILL SPEND MONEY! Don't say I didn't warn you!! read more

This bookstore is a gem! Incredibly well curated with a very knowledgeable staff. Every time I go there, I end up buying (and loving) a book that was not on my radar. I found the staff pretentious, and their knowledge of literature to be very lacking. The owner was rude, and their featured authors reveal their lack of intellect. Worst indie bookstore I've ever visited in the country. This is a great little store with a well selected, very current stock of books, shelves of staff favorites, and a sizable kids' section. One old-fashioned touch that I like is the shop window display; even most independent bookstores don't seem to have those. The women in charge are friendly and obviously know their stuff; just browse the covers in the window if you don't believe me. Thank You Books doesn't sell beverages, but why would they? There's a coffee shop within 50 yards, a brewpub even closer, and a soda fountain (I'm serious) next door. Crestwood Park is right behind the store. read more
