Had dinner at the bar and when we sat down, the bartender handed us menus. We had to ask her to wipe up a mess left by previous dinners. I ordered the small chopped salad which I usually order there and love, but this time my salad had 4 pieces of lettuce. Was mostly a bowl of chick peas. My mussel appetizer was suppose to be in garlic butter. It had a tint of red and tasted like it was sitting in vegetable oil. Couldn't even eat them. How can you not give this place five stars? I saw some negative reviews and I have no idea what they are talking about! We came with a party of six and had a delightful table off to the side allowing us to talk and interact. My wife had the Clam Chowder: THE BOMB! Not a super thick Chowder but the flavor was great and HEAVY on the clam versus the potato. Have you tried their yeast rolls? They must dust them with Crack because they are amazing. I stopped at one but could have ate six off them. My wife had their Ahi Tuna, sliced sashimi style on a seaweed salad and she loved it. I had Shrimp and Scallop Diablo (delightfully spicy with the shrimp and scallops prepared perfectly). We live 40 minutes away but we have our new Anniversary date place! read more

You really can find fresh seafood in the Midwest! Tried the Italian restaurant last year and came back this year to try their seafood restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with how great this place is. The food is great. The service is great. The ambiance is great. We called ahead and made reservations. They accommodated our group of six by seating us in the Captain's Quarters (the front room with a dining table and seating up to eight). It's very private and well decorated. We loved it. Some of us ordered off the specials menu and the rest of us ordered off the regular menu. We all drank water with lemon (gotta ask for the lemon). Two ordered the chicken torteloni (large tortellini) smothered in Alfredo sauce. One ordered chicken tacos. One ordered fried fish and chips. Hubby ordered the Shrimp and Scallops Diablo: spicy sauce served on a bed of pasta. He said it was delicious. Our waitress recommended the sesame crusted ahi tuna served on top of seaweed salad. I'm so glad I took her recommendation because that dish is very fresh, tender and delicious. They even serve it with chopsticks! I love eating sushi/sashimi with chopsticks. It's more fun that way. At one end of our room was a table with a small fish tank that has tiny jellyfish. Are they real or fake? We will definitely be returning soon. read more

I've been here many times over the years, even back to when it was called Panino's. Seaside Prime is typically a solid meal and the restaurants itself is cute and has fun decor. The drinks are good and the food is good. It's not spectacular, and the prices are high. I actually really liked the greasy, soaked in butter bread, but no one at my table ate them because they were literally soaking in butter. My lobster roll wasn't stuffed enough, but it was delicious! Everyone liked their food and it was a nice summer night. I'd come back! read more

Another great dining experience at Seaside last night. The food is great and the staff are awesome. Excellent fresh fish selections. My favorite is usually the grouper with crabmeat but last night I got the fish fry combo. Saw it come out last visit and it looked great. Two pieces of cod, two jumbo shrimp and two nice pieces of perch. Tasty and cooked perfectly. My wife had the sea bass. We also had raw oysters and Rockefeller. Dang, what a find for Midwest seafood! I'm from MA so seafood snob I am, so to speak. The servers were THE BEST, the food was very good, and the prices are decently priced! If you haven't eaten either at Seaside prime or Paisanos.....You are missing out! I think these are hands-down, our favorite restaurants to go to between Chicago and Twin Lakes. We've never had a bad meal, and this one also did not disappoint. The owner goes between the two restaurants and he visited our table this night. We learned that the Seafood Diablo marinara recipe is one that has been passed down since his grandmother. The owner shared that the manager of Seaside prime is one of his best friends, who he would not trust anyone else with the recipes. They are a dream team. The food is always amazing and the seafood is always fresh. It is not easy to find this caliber of seafood in the Midwest! My husband and I made reservations for a Friday night. We were a bit early so we sat at the bar for a bit before our table was ready. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. The ambience was fun and cute, clean and spacious enough where we were seated. We order the arracini balls and oyster Rockefeller for an appetizer. They were huge portions and very tasty. My husband ordered the fry fish dinner and I ordered the seafood Diablo pasta. The seafood was cooked perfectly and my pasta was nice and Al dente. My husbands fish and fries were a bit oily seeing the oil on the plate in a puddle. It was tasty, but to see the oil, it was "a bit" unsettling. Very cool little place in a converted home at the end of the block, sort of. We had reservations and were seated upon entering. The place filled up fast and the hostess was right in having us make reservations. My crusted pork chop meal off of the nightly special menu was very good and my wife loved her Grouper. They also have a 1lb. pork chop on the daily menu. The table next to ours had crab legs and they looked big and fat and I liked how they cut the legs into nice size portions so you didn't have to fight them to get the crab out. The service was spot on and the owner was making the rounds, seems he owns the whole side of the street as there is another Paisano's a few doors away serving Italian food. I'd come back here or try the Italian joint next time I'm in the area. read more

We have dined here before a few times but always with larger groups. Our experience in that setting here has not be always favorable due to the limited size of the place. That said, we recently dined and sat outdoors. We have excellence service taking us in on a late reservation. What a nice Yelp find in the middle of a quaint little town. The staff is so nice and welcoming with a smile. Our reservation was for 8pm on a Saturday night. We got there around 7:15, thankfully the bar is open with full seating so we had a drink while we waited. Every table was full and every plate that we saw looked amazing. We tried the crab cakes and OH MY GRACIOUS they were perfect. We also got the wedge salad, it just sounded good, and it tasted so fresh. The two dishes we had were the Eggplant Parmigiana and the Shrimp and Scallop special with spicy marinara. Both were huge portions and enough for two to share. Both delicious and would get again. We finished off with a slice of key lime pie and so happy we did. FANTASTIC! This place is good and I would recommend stopping in or even planning a road trip. Worth the gas for sure! I would post a photo of our food but it was all eaten too quickly. We sat outside on the patio. It was a perfect evening for outdoor dining. Server was very friendly. We ordered crab legs and the shrimp with linguini. Everything was delicious. The bread sitting in butter with sprinkled parmesean cheese was amazing. The king crab legs were delicious. ( I needed the hot butter served with the crab sooner than received, but it was still good) Key lime was tasty. (would have loved a spritz of whip cream to work with the tart. Anniversary Dinner. There a few take-a-ways here. We were seated right away at the time we reserved which is a plus. We were greeted by our server and busser almost immediately. Water poured and their delicious fresh bread graced the table. Delightful! Our appetizers of Lobster Cargot and Arancini were fantastic no complaints there at all. We had a few questions for our server and she was knowledgeable. I asked about the Cappino, she said it is very good. I asked what people are saying about it she said people rave about it and ask for the recipe or try to recreate it! That was a really great sell because it's $44.00. I ordered it. My husband got the Crab crusted Grouper and Broadway Potatos. Everything came out in a timely manner. I was a bit thrown off as the Cappino didn't come with bread of any kind. The bowl was huge but didn't seem like there was enough in it to have that much empty space. The Grouper and potatos looked devine. I was excited about the Cappino and sipped the broth, it was bland which I found odd because it didn't even taste like tomato or fish broth, just water. No salt, nothing. I tried the shrimp, over done. Mussel, it was ok. The Squid tentacles can only be described as if I were biting into and through a chicken bone. This was a whole other experience for me as there are no actual bones here. Same texture. At this point I am contemplating my life choices while swallowing my fears and dare to try anything else? Yes! Of course I chose the wrong thing and picked up a clam! Still trying to save the evening I pluck it from its shell and pop it into my mouth only to have a mouth full of mud to ensure my meal is complete. As my husband flags down our waitress and I run to the bathroom shortly after that to get rid of what I could not save to show to the chef. The $44.00 credit and free Anniversary dessert would never be enough to get me to trust this restaurant again. It's a shame because we have enjoyed their food before. If it wasn't for the abhorrent disregard for the health and welfare of your customers I think that it would have been a lovely dining experience. read more

This place is darling! I love seafood so that's a huge plus . You must definitely don't feel like you are in Richmond , il here . The decor is clean and nautical. Service was top notch ! We had a lovely young lady named - Maddie who was attentive and sweet! We ordered several blue moon beers which are always good and they were served on little mason jars with handles and an orange ( of course). They served warm rolls before lunch which were delicious. I ordered the lobster roll and coleslaw. The roll was served with lettuce underneath which I removed but the lobster and bread were outstanding . Restaurant name change, but no change in Quality or Service. We always love coming here and this time we see that the name has changed to SEASIDE PRIME with Phil still being the owner. Good move. It appears that some people have thought in the past that it was a sandwich shop. Are you kidding, far from the truth, but the name change will steer more people through the door. When they get here, they will find Seaside Prime to be their new best eating establishment. The menu is a bit different for the better with a selection of steaks that we are told "melt in your mouth. Next time around we will test this claim. Everything we ordered was outstanding and fresh along with great service. As always Ray came to the table to get feedback on our meal and so did two others which is great PR. All I can say is "run, don't walk" to experience the New Seaside Prime. I had high hopes from all the positive high rated reviews. I'm happy we were able to stop here by chance on our way home from Wisconsin and I didnt make the 40 minute drive from home because there's nothing worse than making a special trip for a restaurant that is not worth it. Food is OK. I had the macadamia crusted halibut and it was mostly crust. The lemon sauce had no flavor. The side of potatoes were drenched, and i mean drenched in oil and inedible. They were hard and appeared to have been reheated, they were not fresh. We also got the octopus- we weren't fans of the way it was prepared. Although it was tender and fresh, the flavor and texture were off. Shrimp cocktail- fine. Fried fish- just ok. Lobster roll- just ok. The table bread was tasty but my suggestion is dont use so much butter/oil. It makes the bottom pieces inedible. I would have gotten a cocktail but we didn't have a drink menu. For a table of 8 adults we received 2 dinner special menus. The best thing about the experience is the patio area which is very nice. We didnt eat inside but the place has a great ambience. Our waitress was great. We won't be back. Ever. But if you're a risk taker and in the area...maybe give it a try. read more
