We showed up early for our reservation but they found a place for us. Our server (Jax) was great. Situated on the square it is super quaint. Hand crafted signature cocktails Soup was amazing. Food was very good overall which included the tender pork steak and the Chicken Marsala. Salads were fresh and dressing good. Dessert of Creme Brouile really topped off the meal! However, the Shrimp Scampi had only 6 large shrimp and a plate piled high with large spaghetti-like noodles and very few discernible mushrooms and greens.. needs less pasta and more focus ! Chicken Marsala sauce was rather heavy but good. Service was excellent and our server was James who was very attentive! One of my favorite places in the area. Every time the food is incredible. The service is stellar, they always give great recommendations on food and drink pairing. I would call this place unfair. It's unfair that other businesses in Southern Illinois have Seasoning Bistro as competition because quite frankly I don't know what they can do much better to match this establishment. I came here on recommendation from a coworker and boy did this place not dissapoint! Got a full dinner with a bleu cheese salad, beer cheese and mushroom soup, and the pork ribeye. Never in my life have I heard of a pork ribeye. Maybe pork chops, or pork ribs, or even pulled pork, but pork ribeye? Ludicrous. I had to have it. The food was phenomenal. The only things that stood out to me as simply just "good" was the baked potato and the soup. The rest of the menu items were fantastic. Their house salad dressing had these little mustard seeds to give the red wine vinaigrette some kick, the Brussel sprouts were cooked wonderfuly, and the pork was beyond soft. I don't think I've ever had such tender pork in my life. The waitress, Tristyn, told me they inject it with fat and sous vide it. If they told me it was imported from Spain I would have believed them as well it was that good. Finally to top off the meal, I got what my coworker initially told me about, the creme brulee and honestly it was as good as she described it. It had this smokiness and savoriness to balance out the sweetness of the sugar and vanilla. It was cold and hot and light yet a custard. Everything you would want in a dessert. Some tips though, get a reservation. I went alone but there were dates, family reunions, a man introducing his fiancée to his family, a group of friends getting together. This place was packed to the nines and was lucky to be seated so quickly. Also get the bacon jam as opposed to the compound butter on the pork. Makes a world of difference! This will not be the last time I come here and will be eager for more. :) read more

I can't believe that such an amazing restaurant exists in such a small town! I've been here a few times when I am in the area visiting friends and family and I'm always amazed at how good everything tastes. Also, the decor is totally cute and well done. The service was also great. So my favorite Is the filet. Done to perfection each time - topped with bacon jam. The garlic mashed potatoes are a 10 and the Brussels sprouts are the best I've ever had. Not too crispy, not too soft, not too much sauce but just enough flavor. They nailed it! Oh and save room for desert. The sundae is something you don't want to miss! Can't wait for my next visit there! It's definitely on par with an excellent restaurant you would find in a larger city. Benton, you have an amazing little gem here. read more

Finally I have somewhere to eat. Let's start with the service. I can't remember the servers name but he had long hair and a viking hammer necklace. You were absolutely wonderful in explaining and answering questions. Next the food. Just wow. I have no teeth as I am waiting on dentures but had no problem eating the delicious tacos and ribeye steak. The flavors these folks put out is amazing. Now the ambiance it is everything you expect from a bistro. Only thing missing would be seating outside but it's southern Illinois and too cold. Very nice atmosphere with fantastic food and great service. We are very lucky to have a restaurant of this quality in our rural small town. The food is what we would expect in a city. Our table had steaks, rack of lamb and salmon etc last night and it was all spectacular. They have a dedicated mixologist for a wide range of cocktails and a nice wine list. The owners live here and have children in our school system so are dedicated to the area. The offerings bring people in from out of town who help our local economy. read more

The public square is an interesting driving experience so be warned. Ok back to our meal. My wife had a special creation from the kitchen because of her allergies. It was a pasta dish with spinach, mushrooms, chicken, garlic and lemon. She really liked it. I had their chicken picatta, roasted cauliflower and a baked potato. Lots of flavor and very good. For great food at a great price this is the place. The food is always outstanding and is o ly outdone by the service. Every meal we have eaten here has been memorable. Today for lunch we had the fish sandwich with house made chips and the buffalo chicken breast with blue cheese and homemade chips. The fish was hot,flaky, and tasty and the chicken had just the right amount of zing to it. Everything was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the ice cream sundae which had a salted caramel and chocolate topping I could have eaten three more of those it was so good. We love Seasonings. When we travel back to Benton, it's high on our wish list. Seasonings is a great little restaurant on the square. For such a small town, this place is such a great find. On a long family trip, we found this spot - thanks to other Yelp reviews. It was a great find as it enabled us to get a decent meal and avoid the typical fast food joints near highways. It is about a mile from the highway exit in the town square. The menu offered a good amount of gluten free options, which were fresh and tasty. We ordered salads, soup and a grilled chicken, and all were well prepared. The only issue was the "fresh" fruit. The pineapple chunks were brown. We asked for a replacement and it was slightly more edible. Other than that, the food was great. The service was above average. We had been hearing about this place for years and finally gave it a shot, so worth the drive! From the wine Choices( such as the Murphy cab) to the starter which were mushroom with two dipping sauces- -- the outstanding one was the horseradish - unexpected and so tasty, a Caesar salad chalk full of anchovies ( tasty but not greasy) to a shrimp scampi which used non sulfites huge shrimp in a tasty sauce, shrimp and grits, chicken Marsala, and a black garlic burger that was perfection. Very dissappointed. I have heard such great things about this place. I ordered lobster ravioli with asparagus and dessert. The order was just under $50. There were only 6 to 8 ravioli and 5 pieces of asparagus. They had the to go bag puffed very big to deceive the size of the order. This food is not worth what is being charged. read more
