Greatly enjoyed finally riding this boat service for the first time today on a car-free return trip to MV. Hope they will consider some sort of cooperation/integration in the future with the newly extended MBTA commuter rail not far away. It's a far more appealing prospect to take a ferry and then train from the island up to Boston, if/when needed. It's unfortunate that their winter service "test" of two years ago was not continued, as I understand that made a significant difference for those in the trades industry who commute from the South Coast or Rhode Island area over to the islands. This trip today was on the larger of the two ferries that they seem to run regularly to and from the islands. I was impressed with the number of seats, especially in the second level, and the clean, modern look of the whole interior. I wasn't clear before boarding if there would be outside access and so it was a welcome surprise to find the top deck mostly open and with plenty of space. Of course I knew the wind would pick up once we got out on the open water. However, the ride was less topsy-turvy than I might have expected, and the crew was clearly familiar with the most efficient way to navigate the vessel, especially through the tricky Woods Hole passage. After that, MV was in sight again and it was a short home stretch! read more

The shuttle from their private lot was great, people were friendly and everything ran smoothly and on time. The terminal in New Bedford is a bit run down. Toilet in the men's room didn't flush. Coffee shop/window was closed. It could be brightened up and someone could be selling coffee when there's a boat full of people waiting to go out in the am. What really matters, though is the safety and efficiency of the boat and crew and here they excelled so I would sail with them again. read more

I had an amazing experience with Seastreak. Even though the ferry was full, they took my number, got me a seat, and left right on time--super efficient and kind. But what happened next blew me away. I accidentally left my wallet--my wedding purse with cash, sentimental items, and my passport--onboard. I was on Martha's Vineyard, and the purse was back in New Bedford. I was heartbroken and ready to cancel my upcoming trip to Spain. That's when Christopher Cote stepped in like a true hero. He found my info using my passport in the system, tracked me down, and led a full-on operation with his team to get it back in my hands. Thanks to them, I have everything back--and I'm still going to Spain! I even offered to send a thank-you via Venmo, but Chris and JC turned it down. Absolute legends. I'll never forget what they did. Went here on Monday July 15th 2024 with my parents for a day trip to see Martha's Vineyard, the place where the 1975 movie Jaws was filmed. Can't say about the ticket pricing because my dad works at North River shipyard (Where these and other seastreak boats get fixed) and was able to get free admission and valet parking because of that. Got there early and had coffee and some food at Ground Coffee Company that is nearby. Then we met some of the staff, who was very nice, and pleasant. Easy parking and easy onboarding. Enjoyed the 45 minute boat ride both ways, and the ride was smooth. Liked that the ride was smooth because i have been known to get seasick, but i wasn't at all during both boat rides to and from the vineyard. Seats are comfortable, and one can sit on the top, or the bottom. We also unboarded/boarded by Oak Bluffs on the vineyard. There are 2 options for parking, one can either park onsite and have them valet it, or park in the parking lot, and take a shuttle to get to the boarding station. Highly suggest to valet the car, as it is then moved to a gated area, where it can be safer. The girl who valeted it was very nice, and even remembered the correct key to give to us when we got back. Valet is also easy, as when one boards the boat, you can just click the link, and your car should be ready when you get back. When we got back, the car was parked outside. Overall enjoyed our trip, and would definitely board a seastreak boat again! read more

The day I was traveling home via the Seastreak, the weather was less than great. Monsoon rains. I planned poorly and didn't have a jacket or a hoodie to help stay dry and warm. The gift shop in the terminal lobby was closed. However, the staff of the seastreak office were accommodating and let me buy a hoodie anyways. I am grateful for their kind staff who could have easily said no, they're closed, but instead took the time to find a solution. I wish I had gotten the young ladies name so I could give her a shoutout here. Thanks again for your help! read more

The ferry to MV was fantastic. The ferry back was a joke. We were first in line but the lady allowing people in let an entire band go before us. The reason was first because they were dropped off at that location via a bus. When that didn't work to get them on first, they then stated they had "some handicap". They had families on the group that went with the "handicap ". They didn't even get their tickets scanned because they were holding up the line. My late husband was handicap and this was clearly a ploy. You need to address these issues. read more

Wow what a terrible experience trying to go from New Bedford to Ack. I started going to New Bedford instead of Hyannis because I hate the Cape traffic but will be going back to Hyannis from now on. I arrived at the sea streak this AM to find out that they are now charging for $15 extra Bags and also charging $1.50 per pound for all the food / drinks i brought for our 10 days on the island. When I went inside the terminal, the staff seemed to enjoy extorting $$, Smug Jack wanted $250 additional. When I could get a ride back from the parking lot due to lack of drivers I decided to refund my ticket and go back to Hyannis. Never again will I pay to be treated like I'm on spirt air. read more

You can smoke upstairs anywhere outside if you're a smoker. Clean restroom seats are comfortable if you don't want to be outside cleaning room inside. This is about as good as it gets when it comes to sea travel. I initially dreaded visiting Martha's Vineyard because I'm prone to sea sickness, but this modern vessel got us there in relative comfort and no time flat. Loading and unloading was a breeze. We went over on a Friday with Obama on the island and some sort of fireworks spectacular planned for that night and it wasn't terribly crowded on the boat, which tells me that it would rarely be too crowded or uncomfortable. It's about a 45-minute, mostly smooth journey each way. The minor negatives I observed: On my one visit to the men's bathroom (thankfully not because of sea sickness) it was a little messy with a lot of teepee everywhere. I was also hoping for more out of the extremely limited selection at the snack bar, which all seemed to be foods that turn my already sensitive stomach. Minor quibbles aside, I'd be glad to streak over to MV again in the future! read more

I gotta be honest: this is not such an easy ride. But, given the alternative, I'll puke a little to save two hours. For sure. I am not a person who gets sea sick. Ever. However, the open waters between New Bedford and Martha's Vineyard are somewhat... choppy, and my little tum-tum was none to happy about it. Luckily, the ride is less than an hour and each and every seat provides full ocean view, so you can watch the horizon and get yourself together. This ferry ride is the answer to so many prayers: a way to get to the Vineyard without having to torment yourself with sitting in gross Cape Cod traffic. Perfect! For me and The Hus, it's fully worth the additional expense ($35 each way v. $7.50 from Wood's Hole) because we save at the very least two hours and a whole lotta pissiness that may be detrimental to ones marriage. Eh-hem. The ferry offers nibblies and drinks for those so inclined. It also goes into either one of two ports: Oak Bluffs of Vineyard Haven, which is a nice option to have. The New Bedford port is small and clean, easy to get to from Providence and has a fantastically efficient shuttle and parking system (parking costs $12 per day). You can't bring your vehicle on the boats as they're passenger only, so if you need a car you'll have to haul ass onto the Cape - sorry. Sure, it's pricey, but if you can afford it DO IT - you'll save yourself stress and time. read more

Reliable, fast, clean, and awesome! The ticket cost is $35, and this vessel does not bring cars. They will carry your pets and bikes :) Restrooms are on the main deck, and the entire ride takes an hour. One of my biggest recommendations is to take our your smartphone when you start to pass by land. Open up the map function. You will be able to see what land you are passing by, as well as your ferry route. It's actually quite cool :) There are drinks, snacks, and a full bar on board as well. I found the chairs to be quite comfortable, and was pleased that there was a fold down table in front of me to place my food. read more

Beat all of the traffic, drive to New Bedford, take the N.E. Fast ferry to the Vineyard and save yourself two hours in traffic. Ding!! That's right. This is a no brainer if your doing a overnight or even a day trip to the Vineyard. The fares are more expensive but you get to the Vineyard Haven in one hour!. Massachusetts residents even get a discount on the ferry tickets. The Ferry has a bar, sandwiches and outdoor seating. There is plenty of parking in their secure lot. Great ferry route to MV. Smooth ride with on time departures and arrivals. I really like that you have the option to go to Oaks Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. The big advantage: the traffic to New Bedford is way better than battling traffic from Boston to the Cape to catch a ferry from there. There's also a Dattco bus that you can take from Boston's South Station, so you don't need to drive to get to the ferry terminal. (Though you should read my Dattco review and proceed with caution... build in a big time buffer to account for late busses and pack light, since it drops you a half-mile walk from the ferry terminal.) The only downside to the Seastreak its price: $70 round trip is much more expensive than the Woods Hole ferry. And I agree with the other commenter, I wish they had direct routes from Boston! read more

We enjoyed a round trip from New Bedford to Oak Bluff. The boat is small and compact but so convenient and priced fairly. We had a lovely ride through Buzzards Bay, Woods Hole and then, on to The Vineyard. It's a great way to enjoy a quick escape. read more

So my experience was picking up so I don't know the logistics of using the ferry. Once you drive onto the property just drive straight and they'll be a crew member waiting. There are a couple of lanes, some are pick up for the different islands, there's one for drop off, and another for livery. The signs weren't visible so be on the look out for a crew member. read more

Stay away!!!!! Literally could not be worse. After promising 3x to have a bus to providence from Hyannis they left us stranded at the port. We paid for Amtrak tickets to nyc out of providence because of them and now are stuck with the bill (hotel + 2 different train tickets). Would rather be stuck Nantucket. read more

I was supposed to go to Nantucket last month on the Sea Streak ferry from New Bedford. When I arrived at the dock I was told where to wait, by one of the employees. I was there very early and sat outside, as it was a perfect sunny day with no wind and saw the previous ferry come and go. When my ferry came in I was told it was going to the dock and my ferry was canceled, obviously, because of timing there was no other option to get to Nantucket. I was very upset, as anyone would be. There were no signs when I arrive saying the ferry was canceled, there was no announcements made the entire time (1hour 35min.) I was there, saying my Ferry was canceled and the employee that told me where to wait, never said it was canceled. The cancellation cost me meals, a day's parking, a hotel stay and a plane ticket the following morning. (I was glad I was not paying for a hotel on Nantucket otherwise I would have been out that money as well) My advice is not risk taking the Sea Streak if you want to be sure to get to Nantucket. It's tempting to avoid the cape traffic, but not worth the risk. Take extra time to go to Hyannis where you at least have 2 ferry and 2 air options. read more

I had a strange interaction with customer service. I called to change the time on a ticket I had already purchased and the woman on the phone was bizarrely confused with my request. She initially told me it would be a $5 transfer fee and then said it would be $20 even though each way was only $10. Very strange. I just came to the dock at the right time and they said it was no problem and let me on. People working the ferry were great and the trip was super convenient. read more

Had a terrible experience with this ferry. I wrote to the company to let them know and after a week, no one has bothered to write back to me. This is my email: I am writing to you in regards to our experience on your 1030am ferry from Nantucket to New Bedford on Monday, May 29, 2017. My family owns a home on the island and have enjoyed many trips back and forth between the mainland and Nantucket over the past 10 years. I purchased 7 adult tickets, round trip for the long weekend and I was really shocked at our experience. The trip out there was late to leave and the boarding process was like herding animals. It was pouring outside, so by the time we found seats, scattered throughout the boat, it was an exhausting experience. What I didn't know was that, that experience was idyllic compared to our return trip on Monday. By the time we boarded the boat, there was not a single seat available to the 7 of us. People were using the seats for their luggage or their pets and dozens were laying or seated on the floor since that was the only option. I managed to get a few people to place their luggage under them to make room for some of my children, but honestly there wasn't enough room for the passengers and their luggage. There was not a single employee available to help find seats for the passengers that were wandering the boat long after the boat left the harbor. What's more was the boat was humid and uncomfortable with all those wet bodies on board, especially the second floor. It smelled like a zoo. I spent close to $700 that weekend to travel on your ferry, thinking it would save us time in the car that weekend. What a mistake! Four of my children never found a seat on the ferry, which is inexcusable. In all the years we have used Steamship or HyLine, we never had an experience like this. The boats are always on time, which is amazing and we always have seats. It may be hard to sit together on busy weekends, but we always get a seat. Please let me know if this is the type of service you plan on providing your customers. I have lots of commuting left to do and despite the shorter commute to your ferry, I don't see taking your ferry again, nor would I recommend it to any of my friends visiting the island. Caution Caution Caution! Bought a groupon round trip deal for $42 valid for departures on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. We wanted to depart on Tuesday and return on Thursday. Sorry... SeaStreak, unlike every other airline and transportation site views a RT as two one way trips with two departures and no return! It really is a shame that this company is so poorly managed and unreliable. Having ferry service out of New Bedford is a great option for avoiding cape traffic and offers quick service to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Unfortunately this company is so unreliable that I will never be using them again, even though I live 5 minutes from the ferry terminal. Two weekends in a row this company has ruined my trip to the islands. Cancelling boats without warning and offering zero information to customers stranded on the pier looking for answers. This is some of the worst management and communication I have ever seen from a company. Everyone from the staff on board to the customer service agents inside were shockingly inept and unhelpful. My direct ferry to Nantucket was 6 hours late getting to the island and on the return trip they cancelled my ferry to New Bedford, instead telling me I would need to get on an earlier ferry to Hyannis and take a bus in Sunday Cape Cod traffic back to New Bedford.
