I had a really good experience at Seatown Locksmith. I had 2 replacement keys cut and programmed using donor keys I bought off of eBay. Not only did they extract the transponders of the donor keys, but they also replaced the problematic internals that one of the eBay keys had with a spare they had on hand. My one and only favorite lock shop. The only locksmith in Burien and surrounding areas that have an actual storefront. Story: I left Seattle for 2 years to attend training program in another state. My car was parked at my parents house and during that time. I returned home to find that somehow the key to open my car was lost. This is not the ignition key as I kept them separate (thank goodness), but still an important key; as it also opens the trunk of my car and the glove box. I have an '89 Cadi Eldorado and everything is electronic! Unfortuneatly I could not access the gas tank because the only ways to it are through the trunk (a special latch for if the battery was dead) or inside the glove box to pop the latch open. I had called Seatown a few times but they did not answer, After calling about 20 places who all said it would cost me about 120 to 200$. I decided to call Seatown one last time as they were the closest business to my location. He answered and I told him of my situation. I actually just wanted a copy of the glove box key as that was the most important to me. Everyone else said they could not do it. However, seatown locksmith said he could. In the end not only did he come out in about (after saying they were technically closed) he charged me WAY LESS than everyone else quoted me. (The other places gave me starting prices, the problem with that is the end cost always ends up being way more) He charged me a flat rate which I payed with my debit card. It took him less than half an hour and he even made TWO keys for me. He was a very nice man and did very good work in a very short ammount of time. Seatown Locksmith is totally AMAZING!!! They super came to my rescue when my son locked himself, and my phone, and all my groceries in the car today, LOL... I was referred to this company by a friend who had a good experience. I lost the keys to my car that other locksmith companies said was a dealer only fix. Great guys! Unfortunately they couldn't make a copy of my key and had to send me to the dealership for the final coding but they tried and tried and were super friendly and professional. Competitive pricing for the work they were able to do for me and having a Mobile unit is a big plus! I would go back to these guys for any other work. BTW it turned out that the dealership couldn't do a key either because there is a tiny lightbulb in the car that has to work in order to code a key, replacing this itty bitty lightbulb was going to run over $200!!! Over priced and the person (all of them) there doesn't know what he's talking about. Last time I went there, he was going to charge me for programming a remote that didn't any special equipment which apparently he said it did and didn't have it in. So thanks to Youtube and got the remote to work myself. 2nd time called them and guy told me to call dealer to get the key code and when I called dealer they said no need. So they gave me a locksmith phone# who was also mobile friendly and cheaper. I think mobile service in 2-3 miles radius should be complimentary. Thanks for nothing local neighborhood business!!! Bought this through a yelp deal and they were prompt, professional and helpful. I would use them again and I like that they have a brick-and-mortar location. Many "emergency" locksmiths just have web sites and no actual location. Kind of sketchy. It wasn't cheap, but what locksmith is, and the Yelp deal helped a lot. My front doorknob lock was broken. I know nothing about locks, and Seatown could have easily sold me a new doorknob, but when the young man came out and examined it, he said that all it needed was to have a screw tightened down again and it would be as good as new. These guys are super responsive and professional! We had a couple of combination/keypad style door locks that stopped working, and rather than try and sell us a replacement right away, they gave us a temporary fix and urged us to first seek a replacement via the manufacturer's warranty. Very good service. I was able to buy a late model auto key with keyless entry blank online and have them both program the key and the keyless entry for less than $100. The dealer wanted $350+ as they insist on selling you their key for $230. Seatown Locksmith also has less expensive OEM blanks available if you don't want to bother looking online. Call them first! You can even do the keyless entry programming yourself and save a few $$ and just have them do the chip programming. Definitely the way to go if you lose your late model car keys! read more
