Even during their soft opening, they're already serving up authentic, thoughtfully crafted dishes that transport you with every bite. I had the lamb birria, and wow--it was rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. Very different than what I'm used to as the consume is already incorporated into the taco , so no dipping needed. The carnitas tacos was another standout: tender, perfectly crisped on the edges, and paired beautifully with their fresh salsa fresca. You can really tell they put care and tradition into each plate. Their menu also includes mouthwatering options like chicken tinga tacos, sopes costeños, and enchiladas Acapulco--plenty to keep you coming back! They're still in the soft opening phase while waiting on the rest of their equipment, but don't let that stop you--now's the perfect time to support a locally run spot that's already serving up greatness. I'll definitely be back once the full menu rolls out!

The hotel itself is very centrally located, about 20-25 minutes from the airport and other small towns to explore for sights and food. It was so nice to stay somewhere where it's so intimate, that the valets, front desk and restaurant personnel all knew us by name! The restaurant on-site, Red Salt, has delicious (but pricey) brunch and dinner. The pool bar is convenient (but also pricey). Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a very nice bathroom and a huge television. There was a free bottle of white wine in the fridge when we checked in. The room keys in the form of waterproof wristbands are a nice touch. It was mostly adults staying here and very few families with children, which is what we wanted for our mini-moon. Cons: The parking is Valet only. The pool is relatively small. The chairs around it fill up fast when it's busy. If a pool chair opens up, you can't get your own fresh towels/chair cover and have to wait for someone to come through with a cart to swap them out. You can't access the beach directly from the resort; on a map it looks like you can access Kiahuna beach, but you actually have to climb down from the boardwalk onto it (I did not want to do this and walked to Poipu Beach instead). The food is expensive and the "happy hour" drinks are $19. Overall, it was a relaxing stay in a beautiful location!

Mom and dad have had a timeshare here for years, dad passed 5 months ago and since Mom had had a reservation since last year, she took me instead. It's been such a special time honoring my dad who absolutely loved sitting on the lanai, drinking his macadamia nut coffee, reading books and going snorkeling. They always get the same room 2314 - third floor up on the very left of the main building. I've attached a video. The most amazing view ever and SO relaxing. For the first 2 1/2 days mom and I just read book after book. We sat on the lanai and just relaxed from the crazy past five months. It was perfect. For the first two dinners here we ate at the food trucks that the resort now has booked in the evenings. One was pizza (Pizza Poundahz) and the other Mexican food (Baja Chalupas). The pizza truck was really, really good and the girl running it was super sweet. The Mexican food was just so so and the guy running it didn't have 1 ounce of personality and definitely not customer friendly (aargh). But I love that the resort has this option so we didn't have to go out, just grabbed our dinner and took it back to our room. Perfect! Beyond all that I would definitely come back here, although I myself don't buy into timeshares. The place is top notch, super clean and well stocked. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to. They supply enough coffee filters for a week, and one days worth of coffee grounds. Thank you! Being an end unit, we not only have open windows in the front and back but on the side as well, which is so nice. There's no air-conditioning here which I really think they should have even if it's one unit per room, but yes, the tradewinds are nice, but it's still Hawaii-humid, and sometimes kind of uncomfortable. Mom said they've updated a few things in the room like the couch and comfy chairs, etc. This unit has two bedrooms, the second being two twin beds. In my opinion, they should have a king size bed in each room so you can bring another couple. Kids always love sleeping together anyway if you bring a family so having two twin beds is a little weird to me. Overall, we've been super happy. There is a workout room on the rooftop as well as miniature golf and pickleball courts (modified tennis courts). There are bbq's throughout the various buildings. You can walk to Spouting Horn. You can walk to the shopping centers and restaurants. You can rent bikes. There are various food trucks on the property on different days. There is a farmers market on Friday (if I remember correctly). The fruits and vegetables are so fresh and fairly priced. DO NOT BUY fruit/vegetables from the street vendors. Complete rip-off. They have different activities daily for people that like to keep busy. The price could not be any more affordable. What we pay to stay there for a week is less than 3 nights at the big brand hotels in the area. You can buy in fairly inexpensively if a prior owner wants out or defaults. We have been staying here for a few years now. You need to take the Rum tour that's about 30 minutes away. Good times!

The toilet and shower are in one room and then a double sink outside that and across from the weirdly laid out kitchen which is basically all along one wall. There is no dining table, just two barstools at the counter and seating for four around a low coffee table. There is not enough storage space at all.... Two small drawers in a wardrobe unit in the bedroom. There is no way you could store clothes for four people in the place. The studio is really cramped, with even less space in the "kitchen" - there's no way I could stay in that space. The pool by the ocean, on the hotel side is too small given the number of rooms and people. The pool by the villas is a much better size but there is no food service over there. The grilling area needs to be cleaned everyday and it is not. The tables are disgustingly dirty.

The unit is a bit old so we had a couple of glitches but nothing major. 1 clogged sink, phone line problem. Maintenance took care of the problems quickly and efficiently. There was a conflict regarding billing though. They tried to add some fees that we did not agree to so we had to press the issue in order to refuse the additional charges. This resulted in mdowngrading of my Yelp rating but the actual experience staying here has been quite satisfactory. Possibly not realizing some of us are/were Kauai residents gave the company the mistaken impression we would accept additional fees without questioning them. Sorry, bad move on their part. I like the plantation so I don't want to be negative about my experience but the billing issue was not something I could overlook without mentioning it. Tourists booking here might just overlook this or not even notice this but I would be remiss not to make Yelpers aware of something they are likely to encounter. Before completing booking, I would enquirer if ALL CHARGES have been included in the quote and there will be NO SURPRISES when you arrive and pay for the balance of your bill. I find this practice distasteful whether it is a resort or Ticketmaster trying to make an extra profit from customers with deceptive pricing. Everyone here at resort has been fantastic. It's their corporate that I take exception with. Waimea Plantation itself is a solid 4 star rating.
