Went to a conference in Sept 2025. We stayed in the Portside section. Beautiful views of the ocean from our room. We had a handicap accessible room (we didn't need it) but it was so tastefully done you didn't know it. Clean clean clean. Breakfast bar was top rate. We had lunch thru our conference ordered ahead for the whole week. Day 1 was less than par, an hour late and cold. Staff indicated they were working thru some new systems. Day two lunch was improved. Hoping Day 3 will be even better. I hope to come back again. read more

We came into town for our daughters wedding in Acadia National Park. We had 3 consecutive rooms in the Portside another family members was also in Portside and some were in Oceanside building. From check in to check out the experience was excellent. The staff was always polite and accommodating. We had the continental breakfast one day was was convenient and easy to walk to. The steak house being across the streak was also a plus and able to walk to (little hilly). My adult children utilized the pool and hot tub area which was clean and well kept. The main building was under construction but didn't affect out stay at all. Our rooms we all very clean, had dorm size fridges and microwaves. We had some small children above us who like to get up early and ran around a lot (grease the slider door on the second floor) but rooms on the sides you couldn't hear anything. The bathroom was very spacious and clean. There is plenty of parking just know in the portside and oceanside building (waterside) you have to walk down stairs to gain access to your room. My suitcase was 100lbs so that was interesting ..lol. Our stay was perfect and we'll definitely be back! read more

We are here for two nights exploring the Park and Maine coast. We are in the Willows Mansion, room 831. The Willows is a separate, large, period style old mansion apparently from the gilded age, with a handful of rooms and suites. President Taft stayed here back in the day. Ours is the only suite on the third floor which is the top floor. Views of the harbor are fabulous. The place has an ideal location. There is plenty of room in our suite, and two bathrooms. There is a good sized outdoor patio off the sitting room. Very private. Tall folk be mindful of the low bridge as you go up the last steps from the hallway to the room I bumped my head a few times. Meals are in the main hotel building about 20 steps from the Willows. There is no room service but you can order and pick up. The heat was not working and maintenance was called 3 times. They came promptly and a very accommodating fellow seemed to finally figure it out and got it to work. The outside temps were abnormally low the first night, in the 40s - it was late June. The heat actually worked during the second day. We did not call our friendly maintenance man again. The temps rose into the 60's on our second day and the room was comfortable thereafter I had a meal in the Bistro Bar in the main hotel building. It is a pocket sized bar with about ten small tables I ate at the bar. Fish and chips were fine and the service was fine. I took a bowl of lobster stew back to the room for my wife. She liked it. We slept well both nights. Furnishings are a bit time-worn but comfortable. Breakfast is available in the main hotel. Prepared breakfast sandwiches and pastries are on offer. It is a help yourself set up. Nothing special. Coffee is available 24/7 in the lobby. The property itself is beautiful and, but for the heating issues, we liked where we were in the Willows. The views from our room can't be beat as we saw a gorgeous sunset the second night. We enjoyed the patio facing Frenchman Bay on our last morning. The town center of Bar Harbor is a 25 minute walk down Eden Street, (Route 3), from the property. I did a walk into town for a meal it was a pleasant 30 minute walk. We say ambiance "a", service "c", food "c", value "c" While we were pleased with our two night stay and we would stay here again in #831, we will likely try a different place when back in Bar Harbor. A real treat to stay here and got a room with a view. The stay came with complimentary breakfast, in a dining area that felt better than a bed and breakfast. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Walking to the balcony and back into the room really sets in stone the fact that you're on vacation. Excursion to the open water is just a short walk away. We can see a beautifully decorated outdoor gazebo from our balcony, I bet people have beautiful weddings here. During our stay the on site restaurants were closed, so we had to walk across the street to have dinner. Which was fine but if the on site restaurants had been open, I'd probably would give 5 stars. read more

Our room in the Willows was desperately in need of renovation and repair. For the price, we expected a lot better. You could see outside through a crack in the wall next to the air conditioner. The furniture, rugs, mattress, and bedding were all very old and looked worn out. Just did not seem very clean. The hallway and stairs also smelled. We did enjoy the continental breakfast; especially the blueberry breakfast dish. read more

I've been told that I'm a bit of a knit picker when it comes to hotels. I'm big on cleanliness and good service. That's why it's a big deal for me to say that this has been THE BEST hotel stay I've had in a long time. Everything was exceptional. There isn't one thing that I can think of that could have been better or improved. Check in was seamless and the staff member checking me in was so kind. She explained everything that the grounds had to offer and made local recommendations. The room was lovely! I was so happy to walk in and throw open the balcony door to enjoy the Frenchman Bay view. The patio furniture was a perfect place for me to enjoy the sunset. Everything was clean and well stocked and the bed was really comfy. The on-site breakfast offerings were also excellent. Due to covid, the dine in area was closed but their contingency plan was great. Menus are provided the evening before and you can check off which items you'd like and when in the morning you'd like it to be available. They'll have it ready for pickup! I was thrilled to enjoy breakfast on the room balcony anyhow. Everything else was just as perfect as the aforementioned. The on-site restaurant is great and the gift shop has cute knickknacks as well. I am actually loath to leave this place and wish I didn't have to! I could stay a month and it still wouldn't be enough. The hotel is a peaceful gem tucked away from the bustling downtown area but still a hop skip and a jump away! Five minute drive to downtown and Acadia National Park. What more could you need or ask for?! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! A friend and I came late November and enjoy the quiet of the off season. Check in was a breeze, we stayed in the main building and had a room with a beautiful view. The room was clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The main selling point for me was the continental breakfast that was, to my surprise, made to order and came w a menu. Best breakfast I had while in town, I highly recommend the French toast w local blueberry syrup. I have already contacted family to plan a return trip in the springs. read more

We had a 3 night vacation stay here on our road trip. Everything was nice. The hotel room was clean and comfortable, large walk-in shower, granite sink, mini fridge, microwave, single serve coffee maker, flat screen, sitting area on the balcony overlooking the bay. It looks like each floor is equipped with an ice machine and there are washer and dryers available to rent. There is also a free breakfast, restaurant, heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, and outdoor pool, and a small playground(swing set) out front. There is a little picnic area by the water where my kids combed through some of the rocks and found a few pieces of sea glass. It's located in a convenient spot close to restaurants downtown and not far from the National Park. I do recommend this hotel and would stay here again. read more

We just stayed at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel for three nights. What a fabulous place! The setting right on Frenchman's Bay is idyllic and peaceful. Our room, like most, looked right on this lovely bay. The room was spacious and perfectly clean. The king-sized bed was very comfortable. The full hot breakfast was one of the best we have seen, complete with local specialities. The best part of staying here was the staff. Everyone was so kind and responsive. We were warmly welcomed by Petegaye at the front desk. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and chatting with the nice bartender. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked good, with a beautiful view over the water. The indoor pool and hot tub was also a treat. Acadia National Park was just minutes away. We stayed here in mid June 2023 in a family suite. The room was perfect size and very spacious. The housekeeping staff were superb. However the hotel facilities need some upkeep. The was a few tears in the wall paper and the carpet was pretty worn by the entrance. Breakfast was amazing (quiche, many fruit breads and lots of hot options) but I wish they had some bagels or just plain bread. The outside of the willows def needs some tlc with gutters, paint, and shutters missing. Location is perfect to Acadia. Nice private and secluded beach. Close to everything. Can hear neighbor upstairs doing everything. Nice to have laundry facilities in basement. $2 for washer and $2 dryer that didn't do super great job. There is a change machine. read more

On our 9-day trip from Boston, we arrived at a nearby hotel only to feel extremely disappointed about our last 3 days in Bar Harbor. Our original hotel was horrendous- in every way possible. Second time staying here in the top floor rooms overlooking the bay from the main building. The view from this hotel can't be beat! The rooms are cozy and well equipped, staff super friendly and helpful, and the bistro is surprisingly good! Only downside is the walls are pretty thin, so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. read more

My bf and I stayed here this past weekend and thought this hotel was amazing! The balcony view is absolutely beautiful, service was great, and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding! The staff working breakfast were all so friendly and one lady in particular was so sweet and really loved her job. The food was delicious and we always looked forward to the breakfast to start off our hike at Acadia. Prior to our stay, we thought the location would be a hassle because it's not really walking distance to all the good/popular restaurants, but it was not bad whatsoever! 3-5min drive and since we visited during off season, parking was extremely easy. We sat by the bar at Bistro one night and the bartender was so friendly. Did not try any of the food, but it all smelled amazing. Cannot wait to come back! read more

It was fine. We were there in early November when most of the town/restaurants/hotels are shut down. The price was good as a result. The woman who checked us in was a bit brusque but all the other staff were friendly. The room was fine. (First floor, main building). Decent view of ocean but low building is in front of you which you can see over. Bed was okay--pillows a bit too stuffed for our taste :) Room was pretty clean with microwave and fridge. If you want to be in the main tourist area, you're a little out of town so need to drive. read more

The staff can make for such a great experience - from the after hours front staff, house keeping to the bartenders - all were amazing. The room was very clean and up to date. The view of the bay from the room was top notch. Bathroom was immaculately clean. Plenty of parking. Due to Covid breakfast was take out only, this wasn't a bother and expected in these times. The hotel restaurant is just 'meh' . Food and selections are mediocre but the staff is very nice. They should pipe in some music or turn on the TV at least - too quiet - not very inviting. We spent just one night at the Atlantic but it was a good one! We stayed in a king room with an ocean-view balcony and everything was perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower was fantastic, and the view from our balcony was just beautiful. It was just after Christmas so just about everything in the area was closed (including Acadia National Park, which was a huge disappointment!), so we ate dinner in the Bistro restaurant on site. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The man ordered the Tuscan Chicken and I had the Harvest Salad. Both of us had the Brussels sprouts side dish and we shared a piece of cheesecake for dessert. Everything was fantastic, much better than you'd expect from a hotel restaurant. The hot sandwiches at breakfast were also surprisingly fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed everything about our stay here! read more

We stayed at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel for a few nights during the fall, and it was absolutely perfect! We chose an Oceanside room, which had a private balcony and stunning views. We loved having our breakfast on the balcony in the morning- it was so peaceful! In terms of COVID safety, we were very pleased. The hotel allowed us to pick up breakfast (all you can eat) and bring it back to the room, which worked really well. The room also felt very clean. We stayed here from last week of March to first week of April, the location is pretty great since the Bar Harbor town is just like a 3 minutes drive away and just also nearby to some of the tourist destinations. A private balcony with a nice view makes it more stunning. I also want to mention how I like the choice of scent of the eucalyptus in the bathroom amenities its really relaxing. My 20 year old son had an accident in Vermont and needed a bit of recovery time after the hospital stays, on the spur of the moment, I packed some bags, flew up to spend time with him, and took him away for a few days of recovery before going back to work in construction - on a lark, I drove to Maine, made a pit stop at Mt. Washington, and then up to Acadia for a bucket list checkoff for me, and some time away with his Pop. After winding up in Ellsworth, poorly prepared, and nothing jumping out on Google after dinner, Amex pointed me to the Atlantic Oceanside with a fairly late checkin. The night staff, Sophia, Keanna, and the night shift manager Eric, all treated me, and my son, so kindly. I felt almost like family with all 3 employees, their kind words, sense of humor, and helpful manner instantly made the stay as nice, or better, than a 5 star hotel. The rooms are very clean, the property very kempt, and everything in good working order. We're here for 4 days, and I look forward to seeing the location and property in the morning. BUT, and I have traveled globally and frequently, the first impression sets the tone. These 3 employees really set the tone so well. I wish I was treated like this occasionally, but its rare these days to find such a first impression as these 3. I cannot recommend the hotel more, if it were twice the price. Thank you so very much for what promises to be a wonderful recovery time for my son, and abot of a break for me. Beautiful hotel, several choices of buildings to book. We stayed in the Atlantic View building which is the newest, our room had beautiful views of the ocean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the bathroom is modern, dorm type fridge and microwave in room. Families tend to like this building as the outdoor pool and hot tub are there. We spent 5 nights at this hotel and honestly can't think of a negative thing to say about it. The rooms were clean and spacious for our party of 4. The breakfast was great! I was highly impressed with the selections - eggs, pancakes, bacon, and potatoes, fresh baked breads, cereal and yogurt. Definitely a lot more than I expected. The staff was amazing, helpful and friendly. The hotel has special things for the guests - s'mores every night and make your own trail mix every morning. The pools and jacuzzis were great. And the location was perfect - a 5 min drive to down town bar harbor or a 20 minute walk - the shuttle also stops there! It's also abt a 10 minute drive to Acadia. The bistro food was also very good. We ate dinner there the first night we arrived - has the salmon, chicken special and chicken parm - all very good. Wonderful stay here at the Atlantic Oceanside. Definitely book early and request ocean views. You can see the sunrise from your room. Check in was super easy and convenient and included cookies. Toiletries are from Bath & Body Works. Bed was a bit squeaky, but the room was large, and the view made up for everything else. Complimentary breakfast buffet in the morning included hot buffet (eggs, sausage, potatoes, depending on the day), oatmeal, toast, sweet pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, fruit, and even gluten free bread and bagels. Beverages include hot coffee, hot cocoa, hot tea, juice, and water. Location is really good - between Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, super convenient. Lots of parking. Whale watching tours on site. Outdoor and indoor pool/jacuzzi available. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed here for one night on our trip up the coast of Maine. Worst hotel of the trip. It had a nice view BUT the room had roaches. Found two in our bathroom. Ignored it so as not to freak out my kids. Then pulled down the beds and found two more. They allowed us to change rooms. No problem. It's a pain to do in the middle of the night with two kids but we can handle it. My problem is we never even got an apology. The staff here is just rude. The manager on duty when we checked out didn't seem to care that we had to pack up and move rooms. I didn't expect anything more than apology. We paid a lot of money to stay here and they were just plain rude. Maybe I'm old school or just too southern but they should do better. Have manners and make people feel like you care. It's called the hospitality industry after all. I said please and thank you and just got grunted at. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. read more

This is one of the many resorts and hotels in the Bar Harbor area. We stayed here for a week . There are three separate buildings and our room had a balcony overlooking Frenchman's Bay. Everything was clean and good hotel quality. There is a moderately sized pool that we swam in one day, and every morning breakfast buffet is included! The staff is helpful. On night we ordered takeout from the restaurant. Also, the local free bus into town stops right at the hotel. Harbor tour leaves from the dock located here as well. We made use of it a lot!
