Had dinner here with my wife I got the halibut with a strawberry sauce, really wasn't impressed with the flavor or the amount for $36. My wife got got a $28 pasta dish that was ok but we've had way better at olive garden. Then we decided to get dessert we ended up getting the dessert trio of chocolate mousse, cannoli, and lemon tart. For $10 we got literally a tablespoon of mousse, the smallest cannoli I've ever seen, and a very mediocre lemon tart. Not impressed at all. We loved the hotel and the staff was wonderful but I do not recommend wasting your money at this restaurant. read more

While we LOVED the hotel, the restaurant wasn't that impressive. It was beautiful inside and the outdoor patio area is amazing, but the food and service needs serious work!!! We had dinner in the restaurant the night that we stayed. Our server was pleasant, but seemed either new, or very inexperienced. After we got our drinks and ordered our appetizer, we hardly ever saw her. She never brought bread until I finally requested it when our salads arrived. We stared with the fried calamari and banana peppers. The calamari wasn't anything to write home about. Way too tough for me. The fried banana peppers though were great! We shared the orchard chicken salad, which was really great! My husband ordered the seafood/pasta entree, which was ok, but he wasn't that impressed. I ordered the filet which had a Cabernet sauce on top, and that came with smoked Gouda mashed potatoes (yum!), and their veggie of the day (squash, pretty good!). At almost $40 for an 8oz. Filet, I expected a damn good piece of meat! First, it was overcooked, but since we waited so long to get it, and or server wasn't doing very well, I didn't say anything. The wine sauce was a good flavor, which was a good thing because the filet had NO flavor. It definitely needed to be seasoned. We both brought desserts back to our room, and they were good, but I believe not made in house. The next morning we went down and had breakfast. We both got the free coffee outside of our room in order to save on the $3 a cup they charge at breakfast. We both ordered the basic breakfast, which comes with two eggs, choice of meat, hash browns, and toast ($11). This was actually very good. The toast actually tasted home made! Our server for breakfast was much better than the one the night before. Overall we'd eat there again if we stay there again, but hope they step it up a notch with food and service! read more

Stayed over at hotel over holiday weekend. Ate in restaurant for 2 dinners and one breakfast. First dinner, my wife had Delmonico steak. Expectations were high however steak was of what she considered grocery store quality. I had the grilled prime rib. I'd call it average. Service was very good, our waitress was very attentive. A few comments. One, please provide a better cut of beef and your steak knives are HORRIBLE. Instead of cutting they ripped our steaks..... Dinner night 2, Caesar salads with chicken. Salad was small like a side salad and chicken was grilled but no flavor and very dry. While restaurant was not busy, service was slooooow and this waitress was not attentive but could have been a kitchen issue. Again, I'd look at who I buy my meats from and have a serious discussion on quantity! Breakfast day 2 was average, waitress was awesome. Overall, while from outside you should expect a high end experience, I would call it average with above average pricing for very average cuisine. read more

This hotel and restaurant are the best things to happen to Clayton since the trains stopped! Nothing is done half way and it is clear the corporation takes their hospitality business seriously. The rooms, the service, and the main restaurant are outstanding. The Seaway Grille Restaurant has gotten consistently better each year. My siblings and I gather here for a large family dinner each summer. Our dinner was Saturday night (Aug. 15) and Amy was our server. She was so gracious and helpful with our dinner decisions and several of the changes we requested. She even searched hi and low in the kitchen for extra whipped cream for my Carmel Apple Pie which by the way was outstanding. Several of us ordered the entree special which was delicious. I really like the idea of a hotel here. In truth I think they have completely missed the mark as far as their price point for the rooms...this market being isolated and near areas are mildly impoverished. I suspect they will understand this concept in the winter months when few folks come north. I like the bar here @ the Seaway Grille...the food while certainly better than most offerings in the region is reflective of the clientele here with the inflated prices to match. I had the duck breast and suspect that it was reheated (I'm a cook)...Our group had two good and two meh dishes... conclusion is that it's a bit excessively priced for what they have on the menu. The Thousand Islands Club has a similar idea on Wellesley with a better price point and quite frankly a better product. The upside is that the bar and the patio are probably one of the best spots in the 1000 Islands for cocktail hour. The patio has a fire pit as well. This place is a work in progress...I'll prob come back again next year to check the menu out. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed the ambiance and friendly service at the bar. We hit happy hour 2 nights in a row and got a tasty chartreuse board as an appetizer with drinks. Great experience at the Seaway Grille. We actually ate indoors because it was a very cool night. My wife had the wedge salad which was delicious (I know because I finished half of it). I had a house salad which was also excellent. The bread is served with three different toppings - butter, garlic butter and an olive topenade. Delish. We could have stopped there - it was enough to fill us up. But for our main course my wife had the scallops special appetizer which was simply outstanding. I had the Dijon chicken breast which was also quite good. All in all, it was an excellent experience - the atmosphere, the food and service - and we are very picky! So glad we ate here. Setting is beautiful. Service is ok. Risotto was probably the beat I've had. Don't bother with the capuccino...it's not capuccino....It's out of a push button machine and instead if foam it has desert sweetened whipping cream. meh. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch in November when nearly all other restaurants in Clayton were closed and we were impressed. Best restaurant I've been to in the North Country thus far. I got an awesome prime rib meal that came with a glass of wine and my wife got a creamy potato soup and salad that she really enjoyed. We each had dessert after lunch, key lime tart and pumpkin cranberry cheesecake which were both excellent. The service was prompt and friendly and despite it being a fancy hotel with a fancy restaurant it all came to $60. Great for a date! Highly recommended. read more

We were frequent visitors to the Sea Way Grill. We went their for lunch on Memorial Day Weekend. The service was horrible. Terribly under staffed. We ordered appetizers and lunch. The server brought out the appetizers and the lunch at the same time. The food was cold. My wife ordered a drink of which we never got. We spoke to the hotel general manager and he didn't seem to care to much. He said that the staff was new and needed more training. I guess that's what you get for a $90 lunch. Won't go back read more
