The people at Humane Haven are completely obnoxious in the way they screen potential adopters, and are pretty much looking for any possible reason NOT to let you adopt a dog. I was wondering why some of their dogs go months without being adopted. I realized that it was not any legitimate issue with the dogs themselves--in reality, it is the people running the shelter that are the problem. If you're looking to adopt a pet in the area, I would recommend the West Suburban Humane Society (Downers Grove), TLC Animal Shelter (Homer Glen), or PAWS Chicago (Lincoln Park) over this group anyday.

We fell in love with our baby and were able to take her home with us the same day. She is fantastic and I could see that the foster family took really good care of the animals trusted to them. They were very patient and very accommodating of my calling and scheduling visits to the kennel to see the pups. We worked with Laura and her husband, Steve, and they were so helpful and nice, and even fostered Molly for us before she came home. Word of warning: beware when taking adoptable dogs to events! You may just end up falling in love and bringing them home. That's how we ended up with #2 (Jet) six months after Molly. Thank god our condo has a pet limit, or we'd probably have a dozen more.

We contacted a member of GO to arrange for another greyhound family to take Blast. Everyone we ever met there was dedicated to making Greyhound life awesome so it was a no brainer. We had the interview session w/ a nice family and the member from GO. Worst day of my life. Period. Long story short, the gut wrenching decision to remove my first boy from my home, from my family was only made worse at that GO member's decision to make us feel like we were essentially criminals. I expected some sort of push back given the cult nature of the greyhound community but to take to facebook and write negatively about the home he just came from, that was a bit too much. He had an amazingly large yard, 2 beds, a couch and two loving parents that took him everywhere and gave him everything he could ever want. He had as many toys as my son. He had more beds than the family combined. His birthday was celebrated, every year. I carried him up and down our 14 stairs to bed for months while he recovered from an injury so he could sleep in his usual spot, between my legs I have a piece of me gone and it aint coming back anytime soon. I still gave two stars because the people are awesome and what they do is fantastic and I do not think Trina Grosse speaks for the entire organization.

They work tirelessly and spend any amount of money necessary to save a dog in their foster care. I am a proud foster failure of Pet Profile Rescue and now I help foster other dogs (even though I want to, I can't keep them all). Without these amazing people helping rescue these puppy mill dogs and nurturing them back to health, many many dogs would have died needlessly...but instead they have wonderful new loving families and safe homes. During my interview I explained to Cindy that I wasn't sure if I was ready but this guy caught my eye etc. He was already pending adoption so I was bummed bc I felt like he was supposed to be part of our family. Fast forward a week later and I get a call that his first applicants fell through due to their extensive travel plans, I brought him home and we all adjusted to the other and by week 3 we were in love. After finding out more about him/his history I really felt that my dog that had passed sent him. What I really appreciated about the rescue is how thorough they are in the process and they make sure it's a fit for everyone. They knew I might not be ready but gave me a chance and it worked out for everyone. I can't recommend this rescue more.

He is the funniest and sweetest cat, but as rescue cats go, he came with some problems. First the kitty cold where one of his eyes was almost closed. Then a disgusting case of ringworm. took him into Darien Animal Clinic, where they promptly told me to "give this cat back". Well, I wasn't going to return the cat so I decided to get a second opinion at the Cat Hospital. So glad I found this place. Not only were they way more sensitive (they assured me this is all normal illnesses and it'll clear up) they were cheaper, had better hours, and were 10000 times nicer. They seem to genuinely like what they do and that goes a long way when you're looking for someone to help your fur child. Dr Mcinerney is so nice and great with them. She remembers my cat and helped us through it all! The receptionists and vet nurses all fawn over my cute cat-maybe this is just a ploy for me to like taking him to the vet..if it is, it's working! We got him declawed here too - around $250. For comparison, Darien Animal Clinic wanted close to $400 for the same procedure! will take my cat here forever!

The shots were competitive to Vetco's prices. The annual shots and basic wellness exam would have been like around $208. I had my cat get bloodwork done. You can definitely tell the staff really cares about the cats. I would recommend. Prices overall are reasonable without insurance, not insanely overpriced like Vetco's pet hospital.
