Everything was great until I went to the register to check out. I paid for my items once, received confirmation from my bank via text at 8:51pm. The cashier insisted that the store didn't receive the transaction and to charge my card again. He retrieved what appeared to be the Supervisor, who insisted again to charge my card and that the text from the bank wasn't sufficient evidence of me paying. Against my better judgement while have my child begging for these items, I did indeed charge my card again. Especially after being assured if I emailed the Manager, it will all be sorted out. I charged again at 8:59. Ultimately the store received my money twice. I was refunded the next day, after emailing the Manager to sort everything out. I was pleasantly surprised at how this was resolved. The only thing I will say is that the workers and the women from accounting who called me all said, this happens often. Here's a tip, get the POS system looked at so another customer doesn't have to experience this.

We visited Niagara Falls for three days and as was the highlight of our 2.5 week vacation in eastern Canada. My family and I normally eat at a Filipino food place at least once to vibe how the Filipino food and community is at an area. Lo and behold, J&B Filipino/Asian Store was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel, which is a 20 minute walk from the actual falls, or a 5 minute drive. Nice! The first time we went there, we checked out the grocery store section part of the store, but we didn't really need any Filipino snacks since we are already familiar with it and have them at home in Hawai'i. The next day, we tried to eat at the restaurant, but we were abruptly told that the restaurant was closed. The man wasn't the smiley, friendly type and wasn't Filipino himself, so we felt a bit bad, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because everyone has bad days. The very next day, the restaurant was actually open this time, so we went to try it out. We were actually given menus at our seat, but told us to order up at the cashier (which is weird, pick either service or turo-turo style lol). It was a relatively long wait, about 20-25 minutes, but good food takes a while to make. I wish I could say it was good, but it wasn't that. First of all, what kind of Bicol Express has no gata and all bagoong? I was fully expecting Bicol Express, even confirmed it twice upon ordering and receiving, but was vastly disappointed at what I ate, which is far too salty for my taste. I left unsatisfied with my meal. I didn't want to ruin the vibe with my family, so I didn't mention anything until my mom mentioned that her bangus (milkfish) was stale. I tasted it myself, it was! No wonder my sister's husband from Canada who grew up in Ontario hated fish. Fish from Ontario, Canada is tasteless/stale due to being imported (unlike fresh in Hawai'ior the Philippines)!!! Next, my normally quiet brother is usually content with everything, but his sisig was tasteless! Is there even a Filipino working in the back, or is the Filipino food in Canada not tasty at all (not the case since we had better Filipino food in Montreal in future days)? Finally, the vibe of the sole employee at the time speaks of no customer service or Pinoy (or even Canadian) hospitality at all. He was quite blunt, but it could be his personality. He also blasted Cuban music in the store, which I'm not against, but the environment didn't feel authentically Filipino to me and felt disingenuine. No wonder this place wasn't visited at all, which is a disappointment since this place has good reviews from a year ago. It's possible that the owners have changed and the quality went downhill. I don't think I'll ever recommend this restaurant to anyone I know, and we've learned to avoid this place the next time we visit Niagara Falls. Two stars is still a bit generous and I don't want to badmouth a restaurant completely over one visit, but it's my lowest rating out of any establishment at the time of this post.

It's a standard duty free store that's well organized and stocks all the greatest hits of shops like this: perfume, Canadian souvenirs, cigars, toys, candy and snacks, and lots of liquor! There are a few handbags and sunglasses too. There's a nice selection of Canadian wine and spirits, and most of the major brands are well represented (Grey Goose, Absolut, Johnnie Walker, and all sorts of beer and more). In fact, a bottle of Wayne Gretzky's cream liqueur or a pack of mini bottles of Niagara-On-The-Lake Ice Wine would make awesome gifts for friends and family back home. I'd say the majority of the store is dedicated to booze and perfume / cologne. Pro tip: make sure you use the restroom before leaving, because the border crossing can notoriously take a LONG time to get across. The bathrooms were pretty dirty the night I visited, but I am guessing that's because of the sheer volume of visitors that come through the doors. This is quite a popular tour bus stop. This shop has a huge parking lot that overlooks the falls (so be sure to go take some pictures before you leave)! You cannot make any purchases here unless you are on your way back into the United States, so take note. The parking lot road leads directly to the bridge and there's no place else to go. Purchasing here works like a standard duty free shop: you make your purchase, they record your license plate, then you drive around to a pick-up window to collect your goods. The road leads you straight over the bridge from the Canada to the U.S.A., so don't even think about being able to turn back into Canada from the store! They take both Canadian and American money, which is cool. It's a great way to get rid of some foreign currency before you head to the U.S. They will give you change in either currency, just ask for what you want. I always love browsing Duty Free stores and although I purchased nothing, it was fun to stretch my legs and look around. They are open every day from 7 am - 11 pm.
