Secure showing up with good motivation! The others came in with higher quotes & lesser design ideas. Secure took measurements and started in right away. Even though we've had a very stormy winter, Secure got it done! The gate is indeed strong & secure with good locks. The gate looks great! On a side note, Chavo was easy to work with and he's very honest. I accidentally overpaid Secure a few hundred $$ - they promptly refunded the overpayment. read more

Do not use this company if you ever need your fence actually installed and completed. While the business used to be trustworthy and reliable, the owner has had some serious health issues and can no longer be relied upon to do what they say they are going to do. The new owner has proven to be equally unreliable. Making one broken promise after another. They will collect whatever money they can as a "down payment" in order to purchase the material but will only use that money to pay for the work for other previous customers who wait forever to get their job done. They mean well but simply are no longer in a position to actually get the work done in a timely manner. Too far under debt from previous customer's uncompleted jobs. Warning Use them at your own risk! They will use your deposits to complete other's overdue work. Don't be fooled by the 4 and 5 star ratings. Those are clearly from friends and family. read more

We met with Miguel and Salvador "Chava" Martinez and then hired this group to fabricate and install metal balcony railings, a spiral staircase, and metal gates. You need to know two things about them: 1) they are unlicensed and minimally skilled, and 2) they are unethical. They will steal your money if you end your contract with them, even if they completed no or subpar work. We had to let them go because, after months, they had barely started any work--delay, delay, delay, excuse, excuse, excuse--and what was started was not done by code and had to be later redone by a licensed contractor. Meanwhile, they bullied and gaslighted us and were completely unreliable, almost never showing up when they said they would and being unprepared to do the work correctly or competently when they did bother to show up. When we mutually ended our contract with "Secure Fence & Iron" (as they called themselves) in late June 2023, they kept the $17,546.98 we had prepaid them, even though they agreed in writing to repay us in full in 10 business days. After almost a month, they finally gave us a postdated check that we had to wait 17 days to cash that then bounced. They have been promising for the two months since then to repay us and they have not. We have no choice but to sue them to try to get our money back. Learn from our painful experience and steer completely clear of this "business." They've also gone by several names that we could find (including Chava's Iron and Fence, Professional Fence & Steel, and Miguel Custom Iron), so clearly they've been doing fraudulent business for quite a while now. read more

I hired this company to build 2 gates for our driveway. First Miguel tried a pressure sales tactic telling me the price that was quoted was his best price good only for that moment. Then when I got a better quote from someone else we were considering he lowered his. He guaranteed 2 weeks completion which was the main reason we went with his company. 4 weeks later he came and removed our existing gates and brought the new ones. He did not measure them correctly. It was a disaster! They were built wrong and he had to remake them. So now we're without gates and needed security. So he came up and put up a chain link fence which we could not get in and out from. Lucky we had a second entrance. Finally he got the gates up but his gate opener tech could not get to us for a couple more weeks. When we finally got the job done after 2 months" not weeks", the weld on one of the gates broke. He had someone come up and do a temp weld and promised to come back and properly repair it. Never happened, after numerous calls texts no reply. Now the gate is broken again and they do not reply to my calls or text or email. So the 2 year warranty is BS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I will say at first Miguel did try his best to make up for the time it took and his mistakes which is why I never posted such a poor review. But the material he used is too light weight to hold a weld. And I have to find a welder to remake or repair the broken gate. FRAUDULENT BUSINESS. This company is a scam. Read ALL the reviews, even the ones that are "not recommended " by yelp. Like others, they took our money upfront and never even got close to finishing the work. The work they did do was terrible and we had to completely replace it. No refund and lies after lies. This company is also writing fake reviews on yelp. Any review above 1 star is obviously fake. They do not have a contractors license and are operating illegally. The good news is everyone should open up a case with the CA contractors board, Ventura district attorney, and local police to ensure these people get punished and are unable to do this to others. These guys took my wife and I for a ride. They told us that they could fabricate and install an automated gate on our mountain side driveway within 3-4 weeks in October 2022. So far we have a rickety, creaking nightmare that is only a quarter finished. They asked for money up front for materials, the motor and the powder coat to the tune of $5800 and have since not shown up for anything. Their never-ending excuses started with our being asked to give them $600 of the "...money we owed them." because it rained at their shop and some equipment was supposedly ruined. They also claimed that it was too windy to transport sheet metal on several occasions, that they couldn't weld because it had rained the night before (having been a welder in Washington state, I knew that was a flat out lie) and my favorite was that it was too hot to handle the material on a summer day. When I asked about the gloves that other fabricators use, I got crickets. After 9 months of this, we have asked for the money for the work and materials that wasn't complete, but all that yielded was more excuses and promises to show up with that never happening. We have since had other professionals come out to assess what needs to be done to complete the job and every ove of them have said that they did a poor job and the assessment is grim. The gate needs extra reinforcement since it's so heavy and on a steep grade. We need to get an electric line run for the type of motor we'll need to make everything functional and the columns that were put in (for an extra $500, after they realized they were needed) wil need to be redone to allow for the latch and locks to be able to be installed. I'm very skeptical of the authenticity of the good reviews that are recent, since these guys play stupid games and lie, I wouldn't put it past them to get fake accounts and write their own reviews. If that's not there case, you guys are really lucky. I see the excuse that he got sick in the other reviews so I know I'm not alone in this nightmare, however I question thel amount of truth involved since they have made so many remarkable excuses in the past year and they have a crew that could have picked up the slack. If you value your hard earned pay and you don't want to be forced to take any legal action, stay away from this "business," The only thing they are good at is stealing your money and trying to pluck your heartstrings to make you feel bad asking for that money back. read more

They made our side gate and a handrail took about 3-4 months longer then discussed but i understand Miguel was sick an dealing with serious health issues. But one thing I don't understand is lack of communication! I'm putting a 4 star review because he talked to us when he finished and didn't even want us to pay him he was ashamed. I honestly see the good in him an realize it was never his intention to be late just had more then he can chew on his plate. Work looks great. We had the most beautiful stair railing installed into our mid century ranch style home... it was really hard to figure out what we wanted but as soon as we called secured fence and iron they showed up with beautiful photos to show us our options. They had an amazing fast turn around time of two weeks to build the custom railing and install it. Any questions we had were promptly addressed and the quality of craftsmanship was stellar! I highly recommend them! We are now hiring them to build us a beautiful iron and wood slate gate for our RV access on the side of the house and couldn't be happier about working with them again! read more

Hired Salvadore "Chava' Martinez, named partner with this business, to do 3 jobs. *First, installing a concrete patio which has still not been completed; initial pour was 5/5/23. *Second, powder coat my patio furniture. He was paid for the job in full, $470.00 cash, when he picked my furniture up 4/2023. Despite making several appointments to return my furniture from May through September, he has yet to return the furniture to me. *Third, gave him a $2300.00 cash deposit in May to build & install a metal & wood patio cover. Despite multiple installation start dates given to me, he has not done anything. ** In July, Chava told me it was best to cancel the project because he didn't know when he could do it due to health issues he claimed he had. He wrote he'd return my $2300.00 & return my furniture by 8/1/23. Multiple promises verbally & in writing since then, but.... no refund; no furniture. He no longer answers my calls, or returns my texts. He's disappeared with my money & my furniture to the tune of about $4000.00. He is not to be trusted. read more

They did the same to us we gave them Miguel Martinez a deposit to install a fence and to this day 10/4/23 was never done and I asked for our money back, and yes, his phone was no longer in service, and I text Miguel and he answered, and I told him if I didn't hear from him, I was going to take him to court and he answer and said he would be here to install fence on 10/3/23 he had his worker come with a postdated check and said they were having money issues He wanted me to hold his check until 10/14/23 I told him I was not going to do this, I read his review on yelp and how the check bounce, I made copy of check and told him I want my deposit back the 14 of October or I was taking him to court. stay away from them they take people's money and don't do the job. I was able to get a different phone to my Surprise he called us back this is when he said he was coming on the 10/3/23. we should all get together and take him to court at the same time.
