    Their advent calendar

I've been thinking about what I could get to make an advent calendar with small drawers for toys or candy. I just happened to see an advertisement for See's Candies. The Lollipop candies with no sticks are the perfect size. They will fit perfectly in the drawers. I believe it's 32 pieces and all I really need is 25. So it's perfect with a couple of snacks left over. I was given a sample chocolate as well, which I enjoyed on my drive home. Lots of gift ideas here or just a little something for yourself.

I was so overjoyed to know my favorite chocolate place is here. The last two places I lived did not have See's. Now I'm right around the corner from all my favorite chocolate. There's so much I like about See's. My favorite thing to do is to make my own box. I have also done that for gifts for family and friends, especially during Christmas. The boxes are already wrapped in that signature red wrapping paper. They even have cute stocking stuffers for the children. I also like the bags of individual chocolates, like the pecan buds; they're a favorite. So, on this day, that's what I bought. Of course, I'll be back year-round because they celebrate other holidays, too. I think everyone knows about the Easter jelly beans. That actually was my first introduction to See's. It was Easter, and I was giving the jelly beans as part of a gift. The jelly beans most definitely stood out among the rest, and I've been going back ever since.

Being new to this business, I decided to read through the reviews and by in large this is a very good quality chocolatier. It is located directly next-door to an H-E-B. When you enter, you'll be handed a chocolate sample, which of course entices you to buy more. You can buy your choices from behind the glass or put together your own custom mix in a box. I came here looking for something for Valentines and they have a very impressive and expensive selection. If you love really well-made chocolate and have money to burn, this place is for you. Check out the photos and video for more enticement.

Something lovely about See's is their seasonal offerings that occur thru the year. They celebrate major holidays (Christmas, New Years, Chanukak, Mother's Day), but they will have spring items as well. And autumn items. Every time I come in, I'm happily surprised with something new. This is something that makes this store great. (Please see my review below for everything else!)

Growing up in California, See's Candies marked every birthday, holiday, or "just because" day for my mom... a tradition that was passed down to me. We used to have to mail order or rely on the generosity of family to send our favorite confection so I was thrilled when the Austin location opened. The staff are always welcoming, knowledgeable and patient as you carefully peruse the display to pick out the perfect mix of delights for a custom box. They also have prepackaged selections but knowing exactly which pieces my mom likes is part of the gift. I had such a wave of nostalgia as I saw the special Easter eggs and truffles and recalled getting those in my basket from my grandparents many many moons ago. Even though they've been around forever, they've never skimped on the quality of the chocolate or the innovation to create new and seasonal flavors. Unlike many other chocolates, there isn't that waxy profile and I'm a huge fan of their butterscotch lollipops. This is not your scarf-it-down-in-one-sitting kind of chocolate either. It deserves to be savored one delectable bite at a time.

Awww yeah. See's Chocolates are the best. Best quality, best taste, best service

I've been sampling See's Candies for at least 20 years now. I discovered them when I was traveling out to California and would see them in the airports and at Macy's. I'm originally from Michigan and would sparingly encounter See's Candies during the Christmas season @ Macy's, they did not have any stores at that time. I never thought anything of it - until I finally tried their candies and chocolates after several positive recommendations from friends. I was so impressed with the quality and taste that I've been a fan and returning customer ever since. Naturally I was excited to see them open up a store a few years ago in Austin, and I now make it a regular go-to place several times a year. There are so many things I love about See's Candies, let me run down the list for ya..... - The quality of their chocolates are impeccable and taste phenomenal. Never a bad batch, consistently good, it never fails. Even if you buy online - or in the store - they always taste the same. My mother loved their "Nuts and Chews" box, I'm also a fan of their "Assorted Chocolates" box. Truffles are awesome too, and they have 1lb boxes and up - just grab and go. - That can of Toffee-ettes - OMG! These lovely morsels are perfect to have anywhere - at home or the office. My co-workers love them! It's a must have. - The Maple Peanut Brittle is to die for! It only comes out about 3x a year, one being close to Father's Day and limited stock. I've handed them out as gifts and everyone goes nuts. It's honestly the best brittle I've ever had. - Build your own Box option - - there are just too many chocolates that I like here. Can't list them all but some of my faves are: Cashew Brittle, Buttercream, Dark Almonds, Scotchmallow, Rum Nougat, Key Lime Truffle, Dark Normandie, and Dark Molasses. And believe me I worked hard to narrow down my list. - Love the Peppermints and Molasses Boxes! Assorted box has both white and dark chocolate - I recently fell in love with their Sour Jelly Beans. This surprised me because I am not a jelly bean fan but they had a Halloween Pack on discount post holiday so I bought 2 - - and wow - they are not that sour and not too sweet and didn't have that bad sugary aftertaste. I was really impressed with the quality and so were my friends. SOLD! Customer service here has always been consistently good. They are very attentive here and eager to help you when you walk into the store. You always get a sample when you stop by - and on my most recent trips I was helped graciously by Emily - who was superb and very courteous. Even though she's relatively new there she knew everything about the products and even helped me with some returns / exchanges (FYI - they will swap out anything you do not like - or - never opened - or if it gets old - it's such a great thing!). Emily was attentive and eager to please, she made us very happy on our visit and we appreciate her efforts - as well as the other staff.

And I do feel sad for the three friends that only got a viewing of our photo book from that trip, and not the See's brittle earmarked for them.

Lammes candy closed on May 9, 2026...a sad day for Austin and a sad day for our family. For more…read morethan a century, Lammes Candies have been supplying candy to the Austin, TX metroplex. This small candy shop on Airport Blvd (also locations were in Round Rock & Lakeline mall) was filled with many family memories. Their Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines were a tradition for our family especially during the holidays. When we lived in Washington state for about seven years, and every time we came home, we would take back the Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines to folks in Washington state and some for us too. Smile. We liked that the box had Texas written on it, which gave us a great sense of Texas pride. In addition, at Easter we always purchased the pastel-colored thin mints and at Christmas the red and green thin mints that literally melted in your mouth. Importantly, we would occasionally go by Lammes to get an assortment of candies to snack on. It felt like there was an unlimited amount of choices of this delicious candy. Lammes candy was founded in 1878 and family run since 1885. This cute little candy store was an Austin institution! It was Austin's oldest operated family business and a source of pride for Austinites. Its signature Texas Chewie Pecan Pralines introduced in 1892 was one of its most iconic candies along with the chocolate and caramel Longhorns. In April 2026, Lammes announced it would begin winding down operations after 141 years, identifying rising ingredient costs, labor expenses, and long term sustainability challenges as reasons for their closure. The Round Rock location closed on April 24, 2026. The Airport Boulevard flagship store remained open temporarily until Saturday, May 9th (our last visit) to allow for final purchases. This candy store closure was a huge loss for Austin.

Unbelievably, we had never been here despite living so close, and since they're closing we felt obligated to go in and try it. The place has been around since 1-8-8-5!! We probably didn't get the most legitimate experience because of the crowds. We waited outside for 20 minutes and then inside for another 20 minutes just to be able to get some chocolates from the counter. The whole situation seemed a bit discombobulated and parking was a nightmare, but everyone around us was in a good mood and chatty, so the atmosphere was pleasant. Some of their items are lame, like repackaged watermelon sour patch kids for $9 (!). But of the chocolate from the case that we got, all were really good: the truffles and chocolates are not Big City good, but for a sweet lil shop on Airport Road, no complaints. We also stocked up on a couple boxes of their famous Longhorns and pecan pralines. We asked about merchandise and they didn't have any currently in stock, which was kind of a bummer because we're not planning on going back. Three stars, but a wistful three, and we wish them nothing but the best before the final chocolate curtain falls.

Every possible candy imaginable was before my very eyes - chocolates, every form of tootsie roll, giant blow pops and jaw breakers, gummies - every flavor to name just a few. It was delectable, delicious and decadent!!! I said I was going to eat a few pieces and save the majority of the chocolate covered cashews for another day. Another day was tonight!!! Yes, I add all of the candies. Yes, I am totally guilt free. I did two hours of cardio tonight, so am guilt free. Smile. I tried to live every facet of my life with no regrets. I was the only one in the store so I had the cashier's undivided attention. The cashier rang me up pretty quickly. In addition, he gave a sample of chocolate malt balls. Cars zoom past like they're running away for their lives, but I risked my life for the giant squirrel statue sitting on the side of the road. What is this thing and what is the store attached to it? I had to see. Birthday weekend energy. Inside, the first thing that hits you is that massive pecan scented candle filling the whole store. They did this on purpose. It feels like a cozy Hallmark movie. The place smells delightful and that scent makes you want to buy something. Makes you ready to sample everything in sight. You deserve this. The store has everything: pecan pies, pecan candy, shelled/unshelled pecans, jams, jellies, hot sauces, toys, Texas branded/themed everything...you name it. It's all specialty, all cute, and all priced like it. I grabbed my niece two grenade-shaped hot sauces from "The General" brand because they were trendy and hilarious. But YIKES...Fifteen dollars each. Why, why, WHYYYYYYYY???? I gently reminded myself that Christmas is coming and delusion is part of the season. The staff was unbelievably friendly. They nudged you to sample this, try that, taste this. But beware because that southern hospitality will have you spending money you know you shouldn't or know you don't have. Once the total in my head started climbing, I called it and marched to the register before I got reckless. All in all, it's a fun little stop to stretch your legs, snack on some samples, and pick up something quirky. Pace yourself!
