Hilliards Candy is that South Shore stalwart that you may have forgotten until you really need it!…read moreIt's been in the area for, well, forever! and for my family at least, it's been bringing sweet treats for about 40 years. A few years ago the store moved from the cramped space in Norwell at Assinippi Corners to a fresh, larger building right at Queen Anne Corner on Rt. 53, across from Alfredo Aiello. It manages to have to same cozy feeling as the old store when you walk in and are surrounded by whatever seasonal chocolates are displayed, plus the cases full of chocolates, truffles, jelly beans, foil-wrapped chocolates - everything! It's a given that the big holidays - Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day - have everything and everything you could want to make a sweet tooth happy. I've spent many visits to Hilliards picking up waaaay too much candy for big holidays as well as the smaller ones (St. Patrick's Day, Fourth of July, Halloween) because "I need to bring candy to work!" More like, "I need to bring candy home!" Displays are fresh and full, the prices won't make you blink- think delicious without breaking the bank - and the staff is low key helpful rather than hard sell. I especially like that since I like to roam around, walking the hardwood floor, shopping the one-for method: one for you, one for me. One for you, one for . . . well you get it! Lots of parking in the back of the building, so look past the teeny 3-space area in front and just follow the arrows to the back door-and sometimes there're samples!

We enjoyed sitting outside as we waited for another party to finish their shopping. Once inside, we were greeted with so many tasty looking options - candies, jams, pies, drink mixes, and more. I purchased a cookie and some chocolates. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend a visit to the sugar shack.

I saw this little shop featured during a news broadcast on one of our local television stations and…read morethe store looked so cute I just had to go see it. It's a very small but nice candy shop located in a wooded area on a totally unpaved dirt road. It is about the size of a small shed and about three people can fit comfortably in the store at one time or maybe four at the most. The shop is very cute and it is stocked with candy (mostly chocolate) and some baked goods as well. I was pretty impressed with the amount of different items that I saw in such a small space. There were salted caramels, marshmallow caramels, Jordan almonds, nuts, various trail mixes, muffins, and several other delicious looking sweets. One thing I found to be very interesting is that there were no staff members present and payment here is totally on the honor system. You don't see that very often. There is a mailbox just inside the door where you can leave cash for the items that you are purchasing. If you prefer to use Venmo to pay there is a Venmo QR code in the store that you can scan to pay via Venmo. Paying by credit is not an option in this store but there is always Venmo if you would rather not leave cash for your items. There is a small bench just outside of the shop where you can sit down and enjoy your goodies. I went ahead and bought a box of marshmallow caramels as well as a pecan pie bar that I saw. Both items were very delicious and made me want to go back for more!

From chocolate to "vintage" candies and hard to find favorites, this place has something for your sweet tooth. It's really temptation on steroids. Delectable. They have everything from handmade truffles, giant Rice Krispy squares, vintage sodas, unique gifts, and more. As other reviewers said, this place can definitely be overwhelming, but the cheerful and friendly staff is very attentive and great at guiding confectionary connoisseurs through the wide ranging selection. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list! It takes five minutes, and they'll give you a pound of high quality gummy bears in quirky flavors like grapefruit and blueberry for free, just as a thank you! Every dollar you spend equals a point, and certain numbers of points add up to rewards, like free chocolate bars and truffles. This is super worthwhile, because the candy is on the expensive side, and a discount will make your visit even sweeter!
