I remember after I gave birth to my kids, I gave out either Good News candy bars or See's lollipops with "It's a Boy!" OR "It's a Girl!" complimentary stickers they offer. About a month ago, I dropped by See's Candies located in the Ala Moana Center after my errands. I decided to check out the lollipops I was thinking of picking up for baby shower favors. There were 2 very friendly workers that were eager to help. Asked them if I were to buy the lollipops, would I be able to get a "boy" and "girl" sticker for each pop since the shower is for twins? No hesitation...they said "Yes!" The shower is in 3 days so decided to pick up the lollipops today at the Ala Moana Center location even though the Aiea location is only a mile away from my home because we remembered how nice the workers were. Raquel, one of the workers we met last month was working. She remembered us and was so happy that we returned. Teddy who I believe was the manager helped us. I gave him the 2 boxes that included 30 lollipops each and informed him about the boy/girl stickers. He got the 120 stickers right away...yay! I also wanted to pick up candies for my husband and me. Guess I didn't visit See's for a long time because the cost of a 1# box is $37.25...I remember it was in the mid $20's. Oh, what the heck! Gonna treat us to some tasty candies so I ordered 1/2# Molasses Chips (husband's favorite) and 1/2# Peanut Crunch (my favorite). Teddy informed us that they have 1/2# pre-packaged "Classic Favorites" on the tiered circular shelves located in the middle of the store. We found my favorite on that shelf and the Molasses Chips in a box on the wall shelf so we saved a total of $2.65 or paid $34.60 a pound. So, before you buy 1/2# of your favorite candy, check out all the shelves first. Any discount is better than nothing, right?! My thoughts about See's Candies as a whole...the stores are always clean, presentation and displays of their items are so neat and organized and the workers are always friendly and helpful. Thumbs up! Oh, and we can't forget...they give you a free candy sample when you come in...yum! This store is located right outside of the Ala Moana Center's food court and there's lots of free parking but sometimes hard to find open spaces. read more

I've been away for a while traveling but I came back, popped in, and as soon as I saw the lovely face of See's chocolatress and fine chocolates curator, Diane B., I knew I was going to once again get kind, fast, and accurate service I always get from her. The whole team is great, she's just my favorite. We entered and were quickly offered sample truffles from a nice attentive young man and after selecting our favorites for a box, Diana asked if we had received any samples. My better angels told me not to be greedy and lie, so I behaved--this time. At any rate, very customer friendly experience from begining to end. Diana even checked if I needed wrapping as well. This store is clean, always stocked, and well run and thats why I'm a continual customer. In 1998, when I first visited California, my friend came to the airport to pick me up with a large box of See's candy. This review is about the young associate that assisted me a couple of days ago. I had two gift cards. I had used one previously, but didn't know which one and how much the balance was after making the selection. I asked the young associate to check the balance on my gift cards, but instead of doing so she used one to ring up my purchase the one she used was not the one with a lesser balance so then she had to check the balance of the ones I had to use previously another issue is when I started to make my selections. I told her to put it in two separate bags so I wanted the same items in each bag, but she started to put it all in one bag so then I had to remind her that I wanted two separate bags and the same things in each bag what did she not understand? I saw a post on Facebook that invited everyone to the Ala Moana Center celebration! Each person got a free tote bag and a sample of chocolate! (Today's sample was Butter Cream!) Today we were helped by Jesse. We were looking for the specific lunar holiday set of chocolates and while we grabbed the wrapped box beneath the sign, she was nice enough to tell us that the lunar holiday sleeve was not present under the wrapping. She said they had run out due to the popularity and more was coming in a few days. She asked what the occasion was and my gf stated it was for a birthday. Jesse offered to re-wrap the box with See's black/white wrapping and label it with a Happy Birthday sticker. It didn't take long and it looked great. We have been coming to the Ala Moana location even though we live on the East Side. My husband loves the Pecan Roll. When I went to Jejubing in Ala Moana for dessert per family's request in Nov 2022, I made a pit stop to See's Candies (SC) to try the Bridge Mix that my friend has just been raving about over and over. Curiosity got the best of me, and I purchased a 1/2 bag that I picked up off the shelf. At $32/lb I'll admit this was good except for coming across a rancid nut that had me disappointed. I posted my review a month later after this experience and within the hour after posting the business owner (Johnnie W.) reached out to me apologizing for what I encountered. I was asked to provide my information and a district sales manager would be contacting me within 2 days. But guess what? I was contacted in less than 2 hours by Eric. I was stunned and impressed with such dedication to customer service. Eric asked me to stop by the store as SC wanted to restore my feelings about their products. The next thing you know, Christmas and New Year's flew by. During the busy holidays, I refused to go to Ala Moana as I didn't want to deal with the heavy foot traffic and aggressive drivers looking parking stalls. I finally made my way to SC last week Friday. It was just before noon, and I walked into a very busy store with many customers, so I stood in line. While waiting, a staff offered me a sample (marzipan?), which was just delicious. When it was my turn, I advised the staff I was here to pick-up a package. After providing my name, within several minutes I was given a paper bag with handles containing Bridge Mix and a sample bag. I am truly impressed with SC dedication to product quality and customer service. I have been purchasing their candies for YEARS and satisfied with their products. I even recall purchasing SC in San Francisco to take back to Japan as souvenirs when I flew back in the mid-90's for my maternal grandmother's memorial services. Japanese don't really care for American confectionary because of its excessive sweetness to their taste but commented on the high quality of product. SC has earned my respect as the company truly believes and values the finest ingredients and paired with excellent customer service. I will continue to patronize SC. read more

I go to the Kahala Mall retail location, with their own mini signature shop/building just at the pedestrian entrance to the mall on the East side by Longs/CVS. A unique 'stand alone' shop with a historic yet modern vibe. It is always super clean, the service is wonderful and patient while you struggle to pick out the right items for your custom select box of candy. I'm a dark chocolate with nuts fan, and sometimes I get the already done boxed selection and other times do a custom box for a gift. Their truffles are amazing and there is a wide variety of flavors too. Everything is always fresh and consistent, year after year. See's candy bought elsewhere is not always fresh. See's Ala Moana is my go to for dark chocolate balls on all occassions, they use different foil to mimic the holidays, etc. Christmas is green/silver, Valentines they makes hears in pink, etc. You get the idea. See's has been a part of our lifes since they came to Hawaii, my grandmother used to love going there for their asst box (which they still sell), who doesn't love their chocolate lollipops (I've tried the seasonal flavors but always go back to chocolate) and my fav is the mollasses chips in dark chocolate. Everytime we go your get a sample upon purchase, which is nice and sometimes I ask for dark chocolate sample and if available they will oblige. My favorite sales associate is this young girl named Summer, she's super soft spoken and so pleasant and happy to serve you. She will check stock for you if you don't see the item (this has happened with the dark chocolate balls). Very polite sales associate but in general they all super super nice there, always service with a smile and helpful the moment you walk in and not pushy. read more

A few weeks ago it was Mary Sees birthday and that was so exciting! Everyday there was a special offering a discount on old time favorites. See's represents old traditions with the black and white tiled floors, ladies in white dresses, men with white shirts and bow ties, super cold air conditioning, and of course the free chocolate with a smile. The candies are not cheap. I picked up a bag of milk chocolate almonds and was aghast at the cost...but gladly paid the price because of the samples and nice staff. Lol! Candies do evolve somewhat as there are holiday sweets such as sour bat gummies at Halloween and gummy hearts at Valentines. Everything is caloric and guaranteed to help pack on pounds but again...the free samples and nice ladies really do sell you on the product. Whenever I can afford buying anything from See's Candies, I only go for the ScotchMallow. It's a layer of marshmallow and caramel covered in dark chocolate. I hate hate hate dark chocolate, but the marshmallow and caramel balances it out and makes it soooo addicting. I bought a box of 21 pieces for $23 which is a pretty good deal for fancy chocolates. My family think that I bought these for them lol...silly rabbit, Trix is for kids, but ScotchMallow are for only me. Anyways, fast forwarding, we get home and I hide the box within the house and my wife and kids team up to go look for it lol. Unbelievable, the family betrayal!
