Mixed 1lb box of dark chocolates (scotchmallows, dark peanut butter, dark chocolate almond clusters)

This store has the best customer service every time I go in. They follow Covid protocols and only allow limited number of customers inside at a time. You can pick up prepackaged box of chocolates or pick and choose your own from the display inside. For Valentine's Day I got a mixed 1lb box of dark chocolates (scotchmallows, dark peanut butter, dark chocolate almond clusters). The staff is super patient and takes the time to pack each piece of chocolate in the box. If you don't want a full box of chocolate (I mean who doesn't), you can just purchase individually and weighed by pound. They are still giving out samples in little plastic bags due to Covid. Pro tip: get your Valentine's Day chocolate early... maybe a week early. There was a queue literally all day in front of the store on Valentine's Day.

    Great lollipops!

Got some lollipops for the kids and chocolate for the family with exceptional service from the male and female staffers working. They were following Covid protocols and offered us individually bagged samples. They also were very polite and patient as a customer came in and accosted the female staff member after being told of a $2 charge to recreate a gifted box of chocolates to her liking. Despite the customer's threat of (and omg I kid you not!) calling corporate and *the news media,* they were gracious and patient with the customer. Love this store and their service

hmm....if they had a larger selection of chocolates (&more sugar-free options...it IS 2012 after all now, people!), i'd be happier here.....

One of the cashier guys is very incompetent. But they gave me two samples so I will give them two starts instead of one.

I would give Artisanal Goods by CAR 10 stars if it were an option. We've been around the country…read moreand the world and have had some truly world-class pastries, and CAR has a rightful place in that conversation. The quality of the ingredients and attention to detail are apparent in every bite and every sip. It is well worth the wait you'll most likely encounter. No matter how busy they are, the staff will greet you warmly--even coming out with umbrellas like they did for us when it was raining--and take the time to help you order, converse, and genuinely make you feel welcome. There are limited tables inside to enjoy your haul, but if you're lucky, a spot will open up and spare your car from the flaky goodness that will inevitably rain down all over your clothes and upholstery. Either way, it's worth it. CAR is exceptional.

Overall, highly solid experience... but would I say it's the best croissant ever in town? It's very…read moregood, but I still am unsure if it is absolutely a must try for anyone in LA. That being said, I do believe the quality is one of the best, so worth it if you happen to be in the area and don't mind a bit of a wait. You can see them making the baked goods in the store and the dough is a work of art. There seems to always be some kind of wait and the outside wait is a tad brutal, but there are a bunch of umbrellas you can borrow from the inside, which is a nice gesture from this place. Onto the goods - the chocolate bars are quite steep. Two of these plus a matcha latte and a single chocolate croissant was around $47, so keep that in mind before you stack too much in your cart. The matcha latte was passable in my opinion as well, since the matcha doesn't stand out. A lot of oat milk was used in mine, which diluted most of the matcha. I guess stick to what they are good at. The standout of course is the chocolate croissant. It's quite flaky. Where the surprise comes in is that there seems to be a custard layer inside, along with melted chocolate around the outer parts of the croissant. It's a unique experience and recommend trying while it's hot.

We planned our day with a late lunch at Oh La La after a morning at Pasadena Flea. The rain turned…read moreout to be more than expected so the vendors at the flea market were significantly less. We were done about an hour before our reservation time. We hoped to be accommodated earlier but saw the long line and crowd waiting as we drove by. We decided to run a couple small errands instead. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation. It was still busy, but there were not as many people waiting. The hostess was so warm and welcoming. She let us know that the customers at our designated table were almost done and that they will have it ready in just a few minutes. Unfortunately, those customers decided to linger much longer. Thirty minutes later, they were still hanging around. We fully understood that this was not by any fault of the restaurant. We continued to wait patiently. The hostess was very apologetic and was trying to work out a solution which led to the Floor Manager (Karla) getting involved. We were eventually seated at another table, with the option to move should the other table become available. Karla then took the time to apologize for the wait and unfortunate first impression. As we got started with drinks and a pastry for the daughter, the other table opened. The hostess immediately came to move us. It all went smoothly from there. Table service was casual and attentive. We started with the Chocolate Almond Croissant and the Baguette & Bordier Butter. The daughter tried the Iced Matcha Latte. For our entrées -- Shakshuka, Patty Melt and Brioche Eggs Benedict (with salmon). I was eager to try the Potato Gravlax, but it was sold out. :( Everything was so, so delicious! Fresh and flavorful. Lovely presentations. Very good portions. As we were finishing, Karla came to our table again to express her gratitude for our patience and understanding. She gave me her business card with an offer to contact her directly should we need another reservation. On our way out, I stopped to compliment the sweet young hostess for a job well done. Wonderful experience. Beautiful decor. I would give Oh La La 10 stars if I could! We will most certainly be back!
