At the Eastern office, I felt I was treated differently because I'm not Hispanic and don't speak Spanish. The service was unprofessional, and I left feeling ignored and uncomfortable. I decided to give the Sun City location a chance, but it was just as bad. I waited two hours to see the doctor, and she spent barely 15 minutes with me. When I tried to explain my symptoms and concerns, she dismissed everything and told me I was "too young" to have anything wrong -- simply because most of their patients in that area are older. She ordered a lot of bloodwork but didn't explain any of it. When I asked questions, she brushed me off and told me to take collagen and vitamins because I'm in my 40s. That had nothing to do with what I was actually feeling. She even made a rude comment when I asked about testosterone levels, instead of educating me respectfully. Both locations showed poor communication, lack of professionalism, and a complete disregard for patient concerns. If you're going to work in healthcare, you should care about people -- not stereotype them based on age, race, or language. This was unacceptable, and I will not be returning.

You do need to complete the FAA's online medical application first, however. The office itself is also a tiny bit tricky to locate, but the entrance is facing the parking lot with a small sign on the door. The waiting area is very small and doesn't seem to have very good air conditioning (they did have a supplemental fan). The interior is definitely nothing fancy. A very basic medical office. The staff are quite friendly and cordial as is Dr. Byer himself, and I am always in and out quite quickly! Don't forget the confirmation number from your FAA online application. They will need this for your medical certificate to be issued. This is a great choice for your FAA medical certificate!

They were backed up and I have extreme sensory issues. I waited as long as I could under the fluorescent lights with David. About an hour. Finally just after trying to open the inoperable window and before bashing my body against the walls I decided to leave... but the Doctor was standing in the hall and said "I'll be in there next!" I waited. He was with us in under a minute and graciously apologetic. I blurted out that I have sensory issues and the room was difficult for me-- and he reached up and turned off the offending fluorescents! "Is that better?"
