Came here to rehab my fractured wrist due to a motorcycle accident. Initially, getting an appointment was difficult because they were booked until the next month, but I was told a hand specialist was available so I booked an appointment for the next week. Once my physical therapy started, it was very smooth booking subsequent appointments. Sara-Jane was my therapist and I must say she was simply amazing. Very good attention to detail and very kind and caring. She listened to all my questions and concerns and what I need to get back to riding and just having general use of my wrist again. Also wanted to shout-out to the girl at front desk, MaiKai? She was always very friendly and helpful as well. Great attitude every time I arrived at my appointments. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and am grateful for the staff here in helping me get back to being healthy. Thank you! read more

UPDATE 1 Even worse customer service than I initially described, Tiale (person for scheduling and hopefully nothing else) never gave me my appointment time then said she had and told me to look at our emails (which I did, and confirmed that she never gave me an appointment time). Insanely incompetent customer service!! I suppose they have enough patients to not care. Anyway will update once I actually get PT in a month. -- Similar to other reviews, I have called no less than 10x (picked up 1x, all else goes to automated system/voicemail) and emailed (which initially got a response until I tried to schedule, then last 4 emails to try and schedule have not gotten a response of any kind). Physical therapy isn't very "fun" is it? There's the pain and suffering. The hard work towards recovery, the fact that it's repetitive. Add some hard work and bring on some more pain. The people I got to work with at Select Physical made it less painful. Nice people who care. They are overworked, they do have poor billing and communication. The place is also a little dirty and worn out. But they get the job done. Exercise as medicine is they way to recover. I am happy with the care and service I received. Just wish they could have communicated better. read more

Very poor telephone customer service. Facility door is covered in taped announcements. You have to be buzzed in to facility. Waiting chairs are torn, space looks unclean. No privacy, double booked appointments. The PT staff seem friendly. The ONE OT, Lenai, was amazing but felt so unwelcome she quit after 5 weeks. This leaves dozens of patients without appropriate post-injury therapy. Do better Select Geary! (Also outdoor sign needs cleaning.) read more

I had very bad, actually unsafe treatment and advice there from Lenai Samuels who they said was a hand therapist. On my first and only visit, she actually tried to remove my splint, which had only been professionally applied in a long and painful procedure only days before in the hospital where is had been admitted for multiple wrist fractures, before I stopped her. The UCSF orthopedist doctor took over an hour to prepare and apply the splint, using special equipment and topical anesthesic,and warned me to keep it on and dry for 8 weeks. When I objected, she told me she needed to do it to "measure my fingers," and said she would replace it! She only stopped unwinding the outside covering after I insisted vociferously. She also advised me to walk with my hand down, when all the literature advised to keep my hand in the air to avoid swelling. I reported this to my UCSF ortho team and they said that no hand therapist would ever remove or replace a splint, and that the hand needed to keep elevated at all times. They repeatedly warned NOT to ever try to remove the splint! I reported all of the above to Tiale Ale, her manager and asked for Lenai's license number to check with the State of California I checked the profssional license number that Title provided and it turned out to be the number of the business itself. Lenai was not listed as a licensed Occupational Therapist, as she and her management claimed, After I informed both Title and Lenai of the fact that she was not listed with the State they did not provide any explanation. Lenai later wrote me an email claiming that she never tried to remove my splint but never gave me her State License Number. Sorry to say this person is not competent to practice as a hand therapist and is dishonestly practicing without a license. Beware! read more

An outstanding program. I've been to therapy here three times and the therapy program each time was excellent. The care was well thought out and responsive to my needs and goals. The therapists are all enthusiastic and engaging and very professional. They are adept at using a wide variety of modalities to address the patient's individual problems. I was fortunate enough to be seen by Aleksa Denny for my first time appointment at the Geary Blvd location. I went in to have a speciality-ordered thumb brace accurately fitted. Aleksa was terrific to work with. She is attentive and caring, and gave me many additional guidelines for dealing with arthritis in the wrist and thumbs. I highly recommend her for your hand care needs. After seeing her and telling my physical therapist about my visit with Aleksa, my PT told me she had seen her and had had the same positive experience as I did. My experience was excellent from reception to intake therapist Karim and my last visit with therapist Samantha. I felt improvement to my motion in healing what might be tendinitis or minor tear to my right shoulder rotator cup area. Still very painful but motion is better. read more

I just finished up several months of working with Skylar and Sam for Achilles tendonitis/plantar fasciitis issues. When I started, I was in almost constant pain, but with their patience, knowledge and kind help, I have improved more than I had even hoped for. Sending a big thank you to Sam and Skylar, as well as to the wonderful front desk crew, especially Jamie, who was always so kind and helpful. I am not sure what kind of business do not answer messages or phone calls. I have a referral. I have been contacting this office online and by phone. Calling EVERYDAY for 2 weeks. nobody is picking up the phone. And nobody ever replied my messages. I have done the same for other select therapy offices in the area. Similar experience. for the Pac Heights one, I finally got someone on the phone after calling at least 5 times, telling me they were not taking any new patients. 2 Mar 2023 was the last time I went to to see Virgina Fung (former therapist and site manager) at Select Physical Therapy on Geary Street. This following incident (one of many other alleged abusive encounters with Virginia Fung) actually happened to me to the best of my knowledge. However for community standards protocols, I have to say "alleged incidents". "alleged incidents": On June 3, 2024, I called their corporate billing and main office, I just found out that during my last visit on March 2, 2023, Virgina Fung (former Manger/therapist) marked me at "Cancelled" (no insurance billing) when In fact I booked an appointment, but she started yelling at me during her representative questions (we was aware of my concussive brain conditions (ADA accommodation was not given at all during all of my appointments); "alleged incidents" she she began bombarding me with the same question over and over again, but with a pushy, angry tone of exasperation. Then she said in response to me not answering her questions in the form that she wanted, she yelled "alleged incidents" "Every time I ask you a question about how you are doing, YOU DO NOT ANSWER ME! Then I said, I thought I did. She said, NO!. I said, "I am not feeling respected and you are being verbally abusive to me". Then she said, "Do you want to leave then?" "alleged incidents" She walked away without a word and left me alone on the therapy bench to get dressed and then leave without a word from"alleged incidents" her as she hid in the back room. "Alleged incidents" After that, in lieu of putting down that I was there for 15 minutes of her berating me, "alleged incidents" She marked my appointment as canceled as if I was was never there (I confirmed this fact with their corporate officer of quality care, and "alleged incidents" she said, I don't have you as being here on March 2, 2023, I have you as cancelled! Alleged, I said, then you had a former employee that lies on patient records and facilities medication records. This one "alleged incidents" incident was my final straw and I have more examples, but it was take way to much time to list. read more

I had a great experience with select physical therapy. I spent about four or five months under their care, working on rehabilitation of my neck and shoulders due to an overuse injury. Too much typing! I had great help from Audrey, JP, and Julie while here. All were very supportive in listening to what caused me pain, teaching me exercises to help strengthen my body, providing manual therapy, and ultimately improving my health and well-being. I really like the physical therapists here. They're kind. They've helped a good amount with my pain issues in my shoulders. I would highly recommend all of them. I worked with Audrey but the other PTs that I've seen during the day are attentive and kind to their patients. They look at your form and give a good amount of 1:1 attention. The reason I'm giving this review a 3 is because of the receptionist. The receptionist with curly hair is extremely mean. The other receptionist seems kind. Any time I ask questions regarding payment or insurance she snaps back, is curt, and answers questions incorrectly and doubles down on her incorrect responses. Many times when I make a request she says it's not possible but when I ask the other receptionist or the pts they resolve my request. Not only do they resolve my request but they tell me that my requests are reasonable. The other pts and the other receptionist answer questions correctly too. I've seen the receptionist specifically mess up with other customers insurances too. She's also mean regarding scheduling appointments. She only reads out a couple of appointments which are at inconvenient times of the day even though there are more available appointments. I work so I'm not available to take the first available appointment in the middle of the day. I've never met a receptionist who's so unkind in my life. I've seen this behavior of hers for a long time and wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I figured she was having many hard days but she really threw me off last week with how disrespectful she was. At this point I decided it needs to be called out as a receptionist like that makes me want to stop going to this place. I'm surprised that someone who works at the pt office is so unsympathetic of people with health conditions. I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to work as a receptionist but definitely not at a healthcare place with her attitude. I would urge this business to highly consider getting a new receptionist. I'm not posting my name or a picture as I still go to pt at this place and have made good progress. I made a fake account to post this as I still want some care from this place and to be able to make appointments. I want to be able to continue at this place until I find another place as the physical therapists are good. read more

They start you off with a regular PT first time around and then on subsequent appointments without any notice they switch you over to a person who reads exercises off of a sheet of paper. I have an extremely advanced chronic issue that a specialist referred me there for (in between surgeries). I wouldn't have gone back if I'd been told I was being swapped out to work with the receptionist mid-appointment. After arriving on-time, I waited 20 or so minutes for my first appointment and then another 10 the second appointment, while the PT chatted up the receptionist/later-on-also-therapist without a care in the world. I don't feel comfortable going back here and it's likely they're running some kind of insurance scam by switching from a PT to the receptionist in the middle like that! Also, I didn't see any pillowcases or linens getting swapped out during my long wait either time I visited- despite multiple seeing people laying on the same tables in their weird open-format clinic. Go somewhere else, you can do better! read more

Had a tremendous experience with Select PT. We had multiple occasions to check in and measure progress and make sure that the plan we were on was the correct one. I felt that my treatment plan was well suited to my recovery and ramped up throughout the months of appointments to consistently provide challenges. I always felt better on days with appointments and was able to graduate with a plan to take care of myself beyond the appointments. Highly recommend! read more

I had shoulder surgery in March 2022. I chose Select Physical Therapy (SPT) on the recommendation of a former patient who had rotator cuff surgery. I found a location within a half-mile from my apartment. My therapists, Audrey and Julie, are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and above all, patient. One must not overdo or "underdo" the exercises that are assigned, and they kept me in line in that regard. They were consistent. They evaluated me monthly and kept me focused. If I didn't do my "homework," they knew it! But they didn't scold me; they just kept reminding me to do the exercises. The front office staff and scheduler was also very engaged, competent, patient, and on top of things. If I phoned in to change an appointment and got their voice mail, they always called me back in a timely manner. I recommend SPT for anyone who is having aches and pains or needs post-surgery treatment. The treatment I received was extremely effective. After four months of bi-weekly and then once-weekly visits I have full range of motion in my left shoulder. For me, PT has been nothing short of miraculous. read more

I have been twice to this location for two separate issues the first was a shoulder tear and the second a badly sprained ankle. I have worked with Audrey, Virginia and Julie and can attest that they all rock. They all care about getting you back to top form. The facility is in great and clean condition. I broke my collar bone and dislocated my shoulder in March 2020, the team at Select have helped me get back to full fitness and I feel like my body is stronger than before the injury. I've been to a few different physical therapy clinics in San Francisco and Select is one of the BEST! I had a rotator cuff surgery then a torn plantar fascia which required months of physical therapy. Initial consultations established personal goals which then created a personalized physical therapy treatment to do in the clinic and at home. An app with the various therapy treatments (exercises) also helped keep me on track at home. I've worked with Audrey, Julie and various assistants and each one made sure I was doing the exercises correctly and gently pushed me to improve to my target goals to normalcy. Both Audrey and Julie's backgrounds in professional dance strengthen their understanding on how to treat and care for injuries. The entire staff works well together, is friendly, funny and care about getting you to heal. The facility is well kept and clean and they adhere to Covid safety protocols. I was recommended select physical therapy from a friend and was not disappointed! I was suffering from an ankle injury and they were able to get me back to 100% I worked specifically with Audrey and Julie during my time and they were both incredibly knowledgeable and fun to work with. They worked with me on my specific goals and have got me back to running multiple times a week! I went from a walking boot (and the issues that caused) to distance running again thanks to them. This place is absolutely wonderful. The staff is so friendly and they have been accommodating and considerate in every way. My physical therapist, Virginia was so informative about my condition and most importantly made physical therapy fun because of her personality. I always feel like I get something out of physical therapy and they really try to align some of the things I need to work on with my goals. That totally gives me motivation! I started working with Audrey after an ACL replacement. I was impressed how she would balance my abilties with ensuring I was being challenged. She would often ask me to do an exercise and I would do it. Then she would say something like 'now try moving your knee out a little so it is in line with..." . And wow, she would correct one little thing and it would have a tremendous effect on the exercise. She is incredibly knowledgeable and a joy to work with. This place is great! Ignore the other reviews here, you will receive top-notch treatment. Virginia, Skylar, and Julie were instrumental in helping me recover from my injury. I had a neglected Achilles tendon rupture which took a significant hit to my mobility. After surgery, I was dreading the road to recovery...never had done PT before. When I first started, I came in a boot, unable to take normal steps. Virginia made sure to answer all my questions (even the dumb ones), and helped plan a specific routine to walk normally again. Everyone made sure I was comfortable and double (and triple) checked that most of the stretches and exercises were comfortable for me. I had been going here for a little over a month, and now I can say I can walk somewhat normally again! I had to recently switch Select PT offices because of the distance to my home, but I would go back here in a heartbeat because they are just that excellent. read more

Christian and Julie at Select Physical Therapy have been crucial to my recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery. They are friendly, kind and caring, and at the same they time are able to challenge me so my recovery continues. They are wonderful at really listening to the ups and downs I have had along the way, and have taught me how to listen to pain and know when to not push it too much.
