a view of a restaurant with a buffet
Liann A.

Was on the search for dilis (deep fried smelt in Filipino). I went to multiple spots in this plaza and Selecta had some ready in their buffet food area. The worker allowed me to purchase all of them after lunch and he said if I needed more in the future I could order and give him 15-20 minutes. I like how fried and crispy they are and taste just like chips. They pair well with their house made spicy vinegar. This spot takes me back to a Filipino grocery, carendaria/sari sari store from the Philippines. They have a buffet full of food that I believe regulars go to. The food looked really good inside, like legit home cooked meal ands and ready to eat. It's out in the open and had tons of food for a Friday. I need to give it a try and experience it myself. They also have a grocery store area that doesn't seem too up to date but it looks like this spot has been here for a while. It's located in the Island Pacific plaza so there is plenty of parking in the area and can get busy.

Very delicious filipino food & very affordable buffet! $14.99 Highly recommended! Try this restaurant for sure you will love it!

The price is very reasonable for a buffet (I think $12.50 on weekends). It's not the best tasting Filipino food but for the price, it's alright. There's lechon, kare kare, dinuguan, pancit, fried chicken, whole salmon, pancit, monggo, and more. The only issue is, they don't refill some of the empty trays and the guest just have to make do with what's available.

My faves: sinigang na baboy, palabok, bistek and hella rice lol

Man, this is one of those places I haven't thought to review because it's second nature to come here. My family and I have been going here since it opened when I was just a child. The owner is always so nice and pleasant, talking to his customers, keeping up with them and their lives. I love buffets since the food is already there and available for when your starving and don't want to wait for your order. It's tradition to come here after church and for some reason, I'm always starving after church lol. I always look forward to sinigang and bistek here but unfortunately, sinigang is not always served. They alternate between sinigang and nilaga which I'm not too fond of. Although I understand they want to variate their selection, I have to dock a star for that. The grocery needs a lil make over but other than that, this place has never done me wrong and it truly is nostalgic to come here when I visit my parents in Vallejo. Definitely worth having a meal here when in town!

Friendly people, clean and who knew there is a restaurant right there in the grocery store! The food isn't bad ...the coffee, now THAT's bad but I would have been surprised if the coffee had been good. None of the buffet items are labeled probably because they serve traditional Filipino food and their clientele is return customers. It was not packed but got very busy and then not so busy then busy again. Then about half way through they wheeled out an entire roast pig! I thought that was really a great move and very generous. I do not eat pork but my friend did and he says it was great. Fresh traditional Filipino food, friendly staff in a very surprising spot and the price is very reasonable. I say check it out.

When I arrived at the plaza, I walked around, saw Ihaw-Ihaw (a "roast meats" place), then just walked on to see a "Buffet" sign.

In some ways, finding a great new restaurant is like finding a great new love affair…read more When you 1st hear of a place, your interest in stirred,When you see pics or videos of the food,it's like the butterflies one gets when infatuation begins. When you finally arrive at the restaurant and the food is everything you thought and hoped it would be,you get this smile that never goes away, just like a great romance. Finally when you think back to the time you spent at a restaurant and the joy and happiness it brought,it's similar to reminiscing about a beautiful time spent with a loved one. 3 Star restaurant in Vallejo is my latest love affair. I first heard about this place on social media when a few prominent food bloggers reviewed this spot and said their wings were the best wings outside of the legendary wing spot located in San Francisco. So I watched the videos and saw the pictures and I was truly excited to try them out. Well Mothers Day rolled around this year and I needed to bring an appetizer to my mothers party we were having that day in American Canyon & the idea of finally trying out their legendary dish was my entire focus. Driving down from Sacramento to get this dish wasn't the easiest of drives on a holiday but I was determined. I called my order in and as the saying goes, the worst the service the better the food-well I was pretty sure my food was going to be legendary based on that phone call. I ended up ordering both the Garlic Sauce Wings($15.95) and the Salt & Pepper Wings($15.95) This restaurant shares a decent sized parking lot with multiple tenants-so parking is not an issue. The neighborhood isn't the best part of Vallejo but I haven't had any issues yet with car security during my visits. When I arrived the restaurant was pretty busy but I noticed a worker had a full table that was full just for To-Go orders and I walked up to her and she handed me my receipt so I could go up to the cashier and pay. 5 minutes later I was in my car totally engrossed with the smell of this amazing chicken. I consider myself a true chicken wing expert and when I say these wings were pure flavor bliss-I truly mean it. The garlic sauce wings were a mix of sweet and savory and garlic with a slight spice-a wet wing experience that makes my mouth water just thinking back on. The salt and pepper wings were perfectly seasoned and a bite of that wing paired with the onion and Jalapeno toppings that come with the dish, can only be described as pure excellence. The chef truly has mastered the recipe and cooking technique on both of these dishes. Fun fact-due to various events in my life,I've had to drive to the Bay Area a few times since Mothers Day-I've been to this restaurant three times now in less than a week-I would say the love affair with this restaurant is burning quite hot at the moment.

Unfortunately for me, the wings were actually really good. Now I got to come back for it. They're…read moresuper busy because they blew up on social media for their garlic sauce chicken wings. To be fair, I've never had San Tung's wings before. Now I have to try to compare them. Family owned so if you come late, they're pretty backordered from dine in, but primarily takeout it seems. The sauce is soy sauce based - salty goodness. Wish there was actually some heat (there are chili peppers, but not spicy at all). Felt like it was more decorative since it didn't add any flavor... Onions are great, wish there were more as well. Rice is charged per person, so they just gave us a bowl - presumably you can refill? We also tried the honey walnut prawns, which were okay. Not a ton of shrimp but reasonably priced. Leaned more on the tangy mayo side than sweet, would probably try something different next time instead to accompany the wings.

Traditional Filipino dishes [Vallejo CA]…read more We were in the area and were looking for a place to eat preferably serving Filipino cuisine since we have limited options in Roseville. Hubby found this restaurant and so we drove to the place. First thing you'll notice once you enter the restaurant is the warm temp inside - no AC but they have electric fans going on. To the right is a long shelf with a variety grocery items while the table seating is laid out in the center. TV was tuned in to a channel playing a Filipino movie. This is a "turo-turo" style food ordering, meaning no table service instead you go to where the dishes are cooked in large portions (which is towards the back of the restaurant) and you choose which ones you want. We ordered: Pork Sinigang - a little too sour for me but this is a classic Filipino soup with pork ribs, vegetables, and tamarind broth. Bistek (beef steak) - thin slices of marinated beef before smothered in a deeply savory sauce and topped with golden-seared onions Pork Adobo - classic Filipino dish of pork simmered in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic Kaldereta - goat meat stew I didn't try the kaldereta but all the other dishes were good and delicious. You will definitely feel the Filipino hospitality here. Street parking. Maraming salamat! Review #3929

We originally went for the viral Ilicano Empanadas, those did not disappoint either. They are made to order so you gotta pack your patience, allow about 20 mins from order, it's totally worth it. $7.95 each with a minimum of two per order so bring a friend to share. I cannot say I can finish two and I'm a big eater too. The spiced vinegar served with them cuts the richness of the deep fried goodness. ProTip...make sure you get the bits of picked onions and peppers in the vinegar to add a nice bite to the already delicious empanada. It's a mom and pop shop so don't expect five star decor but it does have a homey touch. It is ALL ABOUT THE FOOD...you can't eat the chairs and tables

This review is for their empanadas only!…read more I've tried several empanadas in the Bay Area, from a gas station in Daly City to private sellers I've found on social media! Out of all of them, this empanada was probably my least favorite one. My mother & father in law are from the Philippines and they agreed. These are really stuffed with meat but they were really dry. The egg was also fully cooked, I prefer a soft runny yolk. The ratio was probably 50% meat, 30% mung bean, and 20% papaya. It was just sooo dry, you definitely needed to drench that in vinegar to get through it. The outer shell was really crispy though! + points for being able to order & pick up same day! A lot of places you need to order in advance.
