I remember meeting an out of town friend here for lunch back in the mid-1990's. The place has old school decor, and a great location near the freeway and down the road from the Discovery Kingdom Park. I was there on a Saturday over Labor Day weekend. It was dinner time (6pm) and the place was empty. The hot food steam table was no longer in use. They have the same old style tables and booths. I was greeted by my server/waitress Janet, and she offered me a booth by the window. Service was great! Grade (5/5).....because for about 30-mins, I was the only customer in the dining room. They had lots of pickup and delivery orders. My server told me they lost alot of business after they raised prices. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup and Walnut Prawns. The Walnut Prawns were very good. The prawns were fresh and plump. The sauce was creamy and the flavor was good. You get 14 prawns and lots of chopped walnuts. Price: $14.95. The Wor Won Ton Soup was average. This is my favorite dish to order. My bowl had 8-9 dumplings, lots of bok choy, some shrimp, and some beef and chicken strips. The broth was mild. I wouldn't order this again. Price: $11.95. Food Grade (3/5). There's only one working restroom. It was clean, but was very stuffy. They had the window locked shut, so no fresh air. The restaurant looks rundown from the outside. It could use some fresh paint. Grade (2/5). Off-street parking. Overall, 3-stars. Good location near freeway, less than 2 miles from Kaiser Hospital, and down the road from Discovery Kingdom. The combo chow mein only had mainly chicken in it and two small slices of beef. The double mushroom chicken was disgusting. I love mushroom chicken usually, but i am not even sure what kind of mushrooms they use.. maybe shiitake mushrooms, but these were rubbery and tasted horrible. I ordered the buy one get one free potstickers. I'm pretty sure these are just made from a frozen bag and put in an air fryer because they were not like normal Authentic steamed pot stickers at all. I have lived in Vallejo my entire 53 years, and this was the first and only time I ate here. Now I know why. I'm sorry to leave such a bad review, but this food was horrible. I was leaving on a business trip and was out and about getting stuff and grocery shopping with my Dad. We decided to give the new owners a try in person since the dining room was open! Stopped in for lunch and had a couple combo plates. These came with an egg roll and fried wonton. These didn't come with soup of the day for some reason. The price for the combo wasn't bad I want to say around 13-14 and that is with subbing out calamari. The flavors were really good, the plates came out hot and fresh and it was just overall good! I recently went in for an order and I come frequently. My family loves the orange chicken. When staff recognizes me from outside of the restaurant they tend to be nicer as opposed to when I come in looking different. I came in and just buy rice and egg rolls . Not much conversation happened she checked the payment, brought out a bag, and said okay. So I grab the bag and go. I sit in my car to see if this is my order and as I check the items I realize it isn't. So I pack it up and start to head to bring it in. Then as I turn the woman is at my door. I open it and she immediately stands in front of my door so I'm unable to close it back and starts asking about the food. Did I order door dash? Did you have two orders? No I accidentally picked up because you brought out a bag said okay and left the room. I start to continue the conversation speaking my point and apologizing but when I realize she isn't listening and won't move on past me grabbing the bag. She couldn't comprehend why I'd grab the bag/ already had her mind set. I disengaged repeating thank you until she left. She gives off the vibe of stealing. Personally id leave the parking lot if I wanted to steal food. My car wasn't even on. Service, Food, Ambiance all could be better. This is always my last resort for Chinese food because it's very greasy. I love the veggie egg rolls they are a good price. Great honey walnut prawns. But I don't eat pork and beef so this is specifically talking about the fish and veggie dishes. I think most Chinese places that are delicious. I grew up with Annie's Panda Garden as the go-to meal for casual dining, celebratory lunches, and many other occasions. It is cheap, offers large portions, excellent customer service, and tasty food. This restaurant is actually the reason why I do not like Panda Express because I know I can get way better Chinese food. As I always did in my childhood, I opted for the Dinner for One. I got fried rice and salt and pepper chicken. Their fried rice is bursting with umami flavor. The pork in it added a layer of delicious meaty flavor. The chicken was juicy and wasn't full of breading at all, unlike many other restaurants that serve their version of deep-fried boneless chicken. The Dinner for One option also comes with fried egg rolls, wonton, and egg-drop soup, which is a delicious set of appetizers. Over time, they did increase the price of their dishes but not by a lot. The price is still quite affordable compared to other places. The serving size is still a lot! I am glad that that has not changed over the years - I always have a second meal when I take home my leftovers. Nowadays, it seems like the restaurant is empty, and that's kind of depressing. This place used to be filled with customers, and finding parking was always a challenge. It was a thick, dense peice of flour puck heavily drowned in sauce. This item was all Carbs. Honey Walnut Prawns lacked Walnuts and was also saturated in sauce. This item is usually first to go, but sadly, it didn't fully get devour at our dinner table. Ginger Beef was skimpy. Dish should have been called Ginger Straight Up. 75% was ginger and larger pieces of ginger. The beef ratio was skimpy. Disappointing item. The order came with a small single serving of chicken salad tossed in dressing. Yet it was also sitting in a pool of dressing that look like simple syrup. We won't be ordering again. I used to come here many years ago and loved the food. I was in the area and decided to try again. Pulling into the parking lot I had second thoughts but decided to go thru with it. I was greeted right away and directed to the menu. I had a lunch special with sweet and sour chicken and lemon chicken with chow mein. That was since the last owner's items; it's time for an upgrade. Cleanliness is traced from eating area and what more inside the cooking area? If the dining is not appealing, what more in the kitchen where customers could not see? No itemized english letter on the written receipt. So idk what I am paying for. The receipt is just the total that you have to pay which can be questionable for some. 5 items mentioned total was $72.54. The cashier lady was okay but needed more energy when dealing with customers. And a litle smile won't hurt. It's not the same as it used to be for idk how many years ago. I have heard from a famous person that when you walk into a restaurant and notice that the door is dirty, expect that the kitchen is dirty, too. (and it was!) For me, if the smell that will greet you is musty, what else would be expected going deeper in? I have seen a lot of horror chinese food restaurants when it comes to cleanliness. General Tso's Chicken-more like chicken and broccoli soaked in sugar water. Egg Foo Young-a hockey puck dough that can't even absorb the watery sauce that had no flavor, and it all drained out of the container and into the bag they put it in. Szechuan Beef- It looked nothing like the picture you see here on Yelp. It was sliced beef with vegetables, and like the rest of the meal, the sauce was watery, had no flavor, and was floating in the bag. Overall, the worst Chinese food ever. We'll never eat here again! I've recently tried their roasted duck. It's well prepared and delicious. Also their chicken fried rice, great seasoning every bite. I came in to order in person. The lady upfront was not very friendly not welcoming. She was quite snooty in my opinion. The second time around I called in my order instead as I didn't want to encounter her again. This time I picked it up and the older gentleman gave me my order, he was very nice and I complimented the roast duck again that it was delicious. We loved this place! The parking was a little difficult only because a giant truck was in the way, but that was no reflection on this wonderful place. It was still a super spot in our eyes. This place used to be the go-to after a long day of being at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Cheap lunches during the summer while you were on summer vacation, or Sunday Dinner with the family after a long day of church and galavanting. Something I wash the pandemic hadn't robbed us of. Some would say "it's gone under new ownership" and so on. But what a lot of us have been missing is, Annie's Panda is a staple to Vallejo, CA. Despite the new owners, the taste and flavors are the same and this place remained at the same location and kept the same name. I think it would help for this business to have some constructive feedback and that's what I intend to do. I ordered a takeout two item lunch special with orange chicken, beef and broccoli, and chow mein. However, I was incorrectly given sweet and sour chicken, despite being upcharged an extra $2 for the orange chicken. I enjoyed the beef and broccoli a lot, but the chow mein and sweet and sour chicken were below my expectations. I expect chow mein to usually be oily, but this was deeply drenched in both oil and soy sauce which I didn't like. While the food was okay, I felt very strongly about the price to portion size. There are very few places where I'd enjoy paying for a $20 meal. This isn't one of them. I decided on two stars because the service was at least timely. I'm not sure if GrubHub's online order prices and the prices inside the establishment are conflicting with each other, but that needs to be fixed for pick up orders like mine if that is truly the case. As locals, Annie's has been a go-to takeout staple for us. Originally we were pretty happy with the food. Unfortunately, as of early 2023 the quality seems to be going down. I know food prices are soaring and restaurant business is tough, so I understand it's challenging as a small family business. After our last few experiences I don't think we will be going back. They would not let us order fried rice or chow fun with tofu instead of meat. I have no idea why. Instead, we came home with a container full of mostly rice and barely any veggies...so disappointing! We've noticed the portions getting smaller and my hubby's beef dish wasn't as flavorful either. It's sad to see the prices going up and quality and portion size going down. A good spot for chinese. I always order take out: pick up and delivery. Delivery is a great option when I'm feeling lazy. Their food is tasty and flavorful so you can't go wrong.
