Many places are a bit run down or operated by large corporate chains. My experience with the bigger chains is frequent and unpredictable rate increases. Then someone recommended Smart Storage which had just opened about a month ago. AMAZING! The place is brand new, really well designed, and I appreciate that access is NOT 24/7. Currently access is 6AM -11PM. I never loved the idea of people rooting around at all hours of the night. The units are immaculate and it appears that all of the infrastructure, cameras, and access doors are the latest tech. The best part of the entire experience is the owner Steve. This is a family owned and operated business. What a difference from dealing with an anonymous corporation. Steve helped me figure out the right storage solution for my needs and made the entire experience a joy. I look forward to coming here. For the record I am not being compensated in any way for this review. After 30 years of renting various units I will say this is the best I have come across. Check it out for yourself!

I was in charge of organizing the logistics. Which, by the way, is my least favorite thing to do in a time crunch. I've had horrible storage facility experiences in the past but was impressed by my experience with this facility. The main item being, I didn't even need to interact with anyone to get this handled. We already had enough going on, so this convenience was VERY appreciated. After a quick yelp search, Buckeye State Storage popped up. I noticed they were literally minutes from Cleveland State which was super convenient for my cousin. I immediately went onto their website and reserved their move-in special, a 10x10 for $99. I instantly received a gate code, room #, and my cousin already had her own lock from the past that she held onto. She dropped her stuff off 20 minutes later. That was easy!

I did quite a bit of research, and found the best deal at CubeSmart. They helped me determine how I would get the best deal (they had a few specials running and because I only need the space for winter and not year round, I went with the percentage off per month rather than the free month if you buy a year.) The staff was really fast and efficient, and even made sure to let me know that my 18.5 foot long coupe might be a tight squeeze in the 20 foot unit because of the vagaries of measurement and construction. There isn't a ton to say about self storage- the facility is gated and the staff is helpful. I went with them largely because the had the best price by far, and the great and honest service is a bonus. One caveat- be sure to call them and ask about pricing. They don't always list the best deals on their web site, but if you call they will help you out.

After a few weeks and waiting for a RV to park for the winter. Went in and met with Brad the GM of the Storage Zone. Had all the paper work in place and ready to sign. Originally quoted before hand $100 a month. Was asked when ready to sign up if anyone quoted me? Told the GM he did and said $100 he quoted. He told me he would never would of quoted me that price that he needed to get $145 a month. I refused and walked out. Found another heated place and no issues with new place. Be careful and make sure you get signed paper work when your first agree on rental price. Brad might change his mind when you go back to sign up

A few weeks later, we moved the belongings from our basement into the new home. Finally, a few weeks after that, the remainder of our belongings were moved. The Good All of the movers were extremely careful and courteous. We were very pleased with the personnel on all of the moves. Additionally, I requested that no "rookies" be assigned to our moves and I was happy that all experienced personnel were assigned. This is the overwhelming strength of Northcoast and should be the primary reason for using them. I would have no problem recommending them or using them again. The Iffy There were two issues that are worth mentioning. First, they tried to hook up the gas line to the dryer without the appropriate connections. Finally, realizing something was amiss, they informed me that they were unable to do it. Good thing. Second, we were unable to unpack all of the wardrobe cartons on the day of the final move. No problem they assured us. We will charge you for them now, you can keep them for however long you need them, and then call us to pick them up and we will reimburse you for the ones you turn in. What they fail to tell you is that they will only reimburse you for half of what they charge you originally. Allegedly because "some customers insist on having new wardrobes and we can't use them on every job." What a crock! Although there were several new wardrobes on our job, most of them had been used prior...one even had UHaul printed on the side rather than the company logo.

We also told him we would take the $10,000 of insurance for $100...a no brainer as I said to him. The movers called him the day of the move, and he stuck cardboard between the glass. They moved it without disassembling it and damaged it. I filed a claim only to be told I did not have insurance. Turned out I did not realize it was not included in my quote...yes, my fault but the salesman apparently did not own up to his error. They should have disassembled the table as agreed. Had they taken time to look at it, they would have found that it was easy to do so. The table was worth well over $2,000. The offered me $120 and agreed to come up to $200. Not good business and I do not recommend them!
