Rebecca's cut was the best I've had in fifty years! I came in with short wurvy (wavy wanna be curly) hair that always had the dreaded triangle shape. She suggested some light layers. I wasn't thrilled with the idea of going a little shorter but went with it. Who new that I could rock wurly as well as straight styles. As it grew out I continued to find many ways to style it. Pulled out them thirty year old hot rollers and the world was my oyster! Air drying or styling, my hair always looked great. Wish I would of found her sooner. I'm done with this salon. I've been here multiple times and have seen two different hairstylists that have left me with patchy spots & banding in my blonde hair. I saw in another review someone said they left looking like a Dalmatian, but didn't want to name the stylist. This is my third time having the same experience. And I think I got the same stylist as that lady. I wish she had said who it was. So this hopefully doesn't happen to anyone else, I will tell who at least the two who did it to me- Jude & Tiara. I'm not going to bother contacting the owner because based on what I'm seeing in the reviews she seems defensive and doesn't correct the mistakes. I'm going to have to have a color correction from a specialist somewhere else after already paying over $300 at Hyde edwards. This salon has definitely taken a turn for the worse. I had an appointment for a haircut with Rebecca (who is apparently the owner of the salon). She canceled with me after finding out I had a row of extensions. I asked to change the appointment from a haircut to a bang trim and she refused. I asked why and she said I don't want to mess up with the overall hairstyle. I asked her how a bang trim which is in the front of my head would affect hair extensions that are in the back of my head and I couldn't get a straight answer. The only logical explanation I can come up with is that she was expecting me to pay $90 for a haircut and didn't want to do a simple bang trim which would probably cost $15 to $20. This is very unfortunate seeing as I have been a loyal customer for 7 years and have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on hair treatments and products. read more

I have to say that the facial I received by Alex was phenomenal. I had been thinking about trying Hyde for a while and had originally scheduled a consult for my hair color with a stylist after my facial. During my time at Hyde, two people had said that for blondes to go to Nathalie and since I have had a few bad experiences in the past with getting my blonde right, I decided I wanted to schedule with Nathalie. So I called and made a consultation appointment with Nathalie but the morning of, I had the worst allergy attack which set off my asthma. I decided to reschedule my consultation and didn't think it would be a big deal since it was a quick complimentary consultation. So fast forward I called repeatedly over the next several days trying to reschedule and I kept being told that Nathalie would call me and to send pictures of my hair. So she never called and when I checked my Instagram, she had sent me a message saying that since I cancelled "a couple of times," she wouldn't take me on as a client. I was really confused because I cancelled ONE time only and didn't like being treated that way. I waited for her call over several days, sent pictures at her request through the person who schedules over the phone, and kept calling to try to book. It felt so crappy to have this experience and instead of just apologizing for confusing me with someone else and asking me if I still wanted to book, she continued to be rude in her messages. I had called the salon and asked for a manager since I wanted to voice my concerns. Jordan said she would look into it and call me back. Then Nathalie messaged me saying it was a mistake and that was on her but she "didn't appreciate me taking it out on the manager." Again, so confused. I didn't take it out on anyone. I called to voice my concerns over being treated the way she treated me. Why not just actually pick up the phone and call instead of hiding behind Instagram, apologize and move forward? Something that wasn't a big deal got blown way out of proportion and it's sad that she is so ungrateful to treat potential new clients this way. Way too much drama going on there. It's so harsh not to allow one cancellation of a consultation (again, NOT an appointment, a free consultation), especially due to health reasons. This showed extreme unprofessionalism and I won't be going back there, not even for facials. I was getting ready to start going there monthly for facials and every 6-8 weeks for my hair, so I'm SO glad I saw how this business treats customers now. Jordan never called me back either after she said she would. Either they have so much business that they don't care about new clients who would be spending a ton there or they just have really poor management. Either way, glad I found this out sooner than later. There is no shortage of great stylists and spas in the area and I'd strongly prefer to give my business to those who treat clients much better. Jordan, the manager at this "classy," establishment, just voted for my review as funny. If that doesn't say it all, I don't know what does. I'm glad she finds this crappy experience where I was treated unfairly because of a stylists mistake funny! Rude all around, this place should be ashamed of how they treat people. I recently just moved back to San Diego and chose Hyde-Edwards as it was the only salon I really knew of since my sister-in-law hired them to do our HMU for her wedding 4 years prior. I was randomly assigned to Kris Santos, and the stars could not have aligned more, as it was Kris who did my sister-in-law's wedding makeup! I'm a natural blonde who gets highlights to give it a boost, but I am super lazy when it comes to hair maintenance so I prefer a super fine weave since it grows out naturally enough to allow me to go 4-6 months between appointments. I hadn't had my hair cut/colored in 11 months, so Kris had a bit of a mess to work with. Yet, she did an incredible job!!! And compared to the prices I'm used to in LA, it felt like a steal, especially for the quality. At this same time, I was planning an elopement as our wedding had been postponed due to Covid, and I was in need of a HMU artist. It was only two weeks away, but magically, Kris was free that day. It felt so perfect given the full circle since she did the makeup at my brother's wedding, and Kris made my mom and I look (and feel) absolutely beautiful!
