My pedicure came out well but it's dirty in there. Someone's mangled toe separators on the table. Tools face down in some type of reused mayonnaise jar with a tan, gummy substance stuck to the side with what appeared to be the dust from other people's toe jam embedded in it. I was gonna get a new set of nails? They filed off my old ones and my nail beds are so thin now there are reddish spots in them and they are a little painful. I made an excuse and walked out without new nails. It's gonna take a couple of months before I can get a new set now. read more

Terrible. I have never left a review on any place of any kind before. This place looks cute in Alton but it was the worst pedi I have ever had and I'm 54! The guy, Dan cut and scraped my toes down to the quick then did a horrible paint job. $60 and an hour of anxiety then I came hone and had to paint them myself. Under new ownership - Highly recommend Selfie Nail salon in Alton. Very happy to have found my new go-to nail salon. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and the service was great! Excellent customer service from Amy - she introduced herself and made sure my nail technician Henry understood exactly what I was looking for. Henry gave me the best gel polish mani/pedi I have ever had. He was meticulous and gentle and I was very happy with the results. The salon is very clean, everyone is friendly and the customer service is great. They take extra steps to make sure you are happy with their service. Horrible salon and management. I got a gel x manicure for an event and every nail came off within less than 24 hours. I asked to be refunded and just wanted a regular gel manicure as a correction and they made me pay for the gel manicure after their errors and 3 hours spent wasted at their salon. Just went with my daughter for a dip manicure, the price starts at $50. she chooses the French with overlays with I know charges around extra $5 each, then in the end they charge an extra $20 for the SHAPE yes believe it or not they charged me an extra $20 to shape the nail and an extra $5 for something that makes no sense. so the bill came up to $85 for a French dip nail without manicure because the person didn't give any manicure to my daughter. Though it is not a "spa", it's much more than a nail salon in that it offers, and offers spa like elements. It is quiet, and peaceful, no chatty technicians, the music is quiet, the place is clean and spacious. Don't bother making an appointment. I made appointments multiple times to be seen with a specific person and in multiple occasions wasn't seen till at least 30-45 minutes after my scheduled time. FYI- only a handful of nail techs can do designs so I would advise on specifying that you want a design when you walk in or they'll just assign you to anyone who is available. Salon seemed ok, people seemed nice. But the receptionist was always missing and others had to stop what they were doing to care for the front desk. This was my first time here but other places I've been had a front desk associate. The "upgraded" pedicure was like a typical pedicure at other places and not something I would never pay to "upgrade" here again. As there wasn't anything special. Also the "matching" dip and regular color was anything but. When the regular polish for a pedicure has glitter and is 4 shades lighter than the polish someone picks but is your "matching" color that it is not ok.any other places have matching colors, that actually match. It shouldn't take a client noticing and saying they don't like for someone to say anything. My pedicure didn't even last a day. At the point the tech said should would change no one person helped me find a color that actually matched. And at the point I just wanted to leave and be over it. Won't be back, came to try as I've heard you are good but I wasn't impressed. My dip nails also weren't even done all the way. My entire hand was the color of the dip and the tech did not attempt to remove. Half the nails are not done. I've never been somewhere we're this is even a standard. read more

Selfie is a bit of a hidden gem in the Alton plaza. I scheduled an impromptu haircut today and was so pleased with everything - from start to finish. First, their COVID measures are on point and they go above by taking temperatures. The decor is amazing - so fresh and clean...and...wait for it, there's a bar! With a haircut, I was offered a complimentary cocktail, which is such a nice perk. Debra was my stylist and she was a delight. So personable and you can tell she is a master at her craft. the first time I went to the salon my experience was above average, technician listed to what I wanted and performed that way. my experience since then has been anything but. pedicure water was cold, spoke to 3 people (2 whose primary language is English) about color and got nothing of what I had asked for. the tech they had provide to make up for error painted over the incorrect pedicure polish (leaving me with 8 coats) and proceed to do my nails without asking about the shape I wanted even though I was adding tips leaving me with no additional length. it's hard to find a good consistent salon, for the costs of $107 for my experience, I suggest trying another place. read more

I went in for my prom nails and didn't expect this experience here I have never been to a salon and had this type of experience nor price for what I got my pedicure was very short compared to my friend who got hers done at the same time.. My hands were the worst part I got gel with extensions he didn't ask what shape nor checked with me for the color. I was never asked how it looks nor if the shape was right. My cuticle was cut very bad on my thumb and was never brought to this attention till I saw it and was in pain it was bloody and wouldn't stop. Not only on my thumb but nicked on over 3 fingers. He was aggressive and get irritated if my hand was not in the right place. I wouldn't recommend especially for 97$ it's overpriced and the people their are not nice I had Bi and not only was he rude but he was sitting outside smoking with some sort of pen on the curb. not the best business look for them nor service. Second time having "Dan" the technician. Super unimpressed. This was my fourth trip to the salon, two times were great, and both times with Dan I've been really disappointed and felt like my money was wasted. I asked for the "jelly" pedicure which i have had at other salons before and i don't think he has ever done one of those types of pedicures before. He added the jelly powder just as he was about to empty the water and dry my feet off. Typically the "jelly" is what your feet soak in throughout the process, my feet never soaked. They felt the water just barely thicken and then he emptied it. I also asked him twice to cut my nails shorter because i run a lot and my feet are constantly in sneakers and he never got around to that either. My boyfriend and i started our pedis at the same time, he was not having color removed or applied and mine was done far before his. I was never offered a fan or dryer anything to dry my nails. When i did leave, Dan was in the parking lot in a camping chair chain smoking cigarettes next to our car. read more
