    If you are looking for a dining experience that defies the norm, Seline is the place. It was a flawless evening that truly showcased why they deserve every bit of their Michelin star. The Concept & Food: The dishes here are wonderfully avant-garde. Each plate felt like a piece of art, both in presentation and flavor. What I appreciated most--especially as someone who doesn't have a sweet tooth--was how perfectly balanced every dish was. Instead of relying on sugar, the flavors were deep, natural and incredibly sophisticated. The Experience & Flow: The menu structure and the order of the courses are quite different from your typical fine dining spots. It keeps you on your toes and makes the meal feel like an exciting journey. We had a bottle of ruinart blanc de blancs and 2021 Le Grappin 'Les Grèves' Beaune 1er Cru, it was absolute perfection. The Ambience: The space itself is cozy and intimate, with a stunning garden that adds a magical touch to the atmosphere. It felt like a private escape from the city. Final Verdict: Seline offers a creative, bold and high-level dining experience that stands out from the crowd. I walked out completely satisfied. If you want a meal that is both beautiful and intellectually stimulating, this is a must-visit.

    I am going to plagiarize another reviewer (JJ H.) who sums its up perfectly: "Seline is a truly special dining destination ...." I visited Seline in March, just three months after its opening, and again in October. Not only were both experiences great, but I could also get a sense of the restaurants growth in that short time. Food: Unfortunately, I no longer have the printed tasting menu to help me recall each course. But as Seline only offers a tasting menu, it's not as if my review is going to help you in choosing dishes from an a la carte menu. Notably, Seline's tasting menu had changed between March and October. I will, however, describe one of the most playful and satisfying dishes I have had recently ... it was a venison tartare, placed on top of granola and hidden by thin slices of celery root (which completely disguised the dish). It was plated next to a deer antler on top of which sat a pellet of compressed pistachio (if I recall) wrapped in a thin cherry film (like a fruit roll-up). Not only did all the flavors work together, but it was also texturally satisfying (with the crunch of granola) and surprising ... I actually laughed out loud. Service: The service was friendly and professional. Bottom Line: Again, "Seline is a truly special dining destination." The food is both sophisticated and approachable.

    This is easily one of the most incredible dinner experiences in LA right now. It is truly a meal you will remember. Chef Beran is phenomenal, and as someone who loves Pasjoli, I knew this would be special. The tasting menu is $295 for 14 to 17 courses. The staff is genuinely warm and welcoming, and the whole space feels relaxed with soft ambient music. It feels fancy but never pretentious. Every dish looks minimal at first glance but ends up being incredibly complex. You can taste every single component. Some flavor combinations sound unusual, like caviar and coffee, but they end up being perfectly balanced. And everything is plated so beautifully - it's edible artwork from start to finish. I am not breaking down each course since the menu changes with the season, but you definitely will not leave hungry. Yes, it is a splurge, but it is an experience in the same way a concert or a play is. It just feels more intimate and more memorable.

    Came to Seline recently to celebrate my friend's birthday. Overall, I really enjoyed the Southern California-inspired tasting menu. The creativity behind every dish was evident and the food was fantastic. My favorite savory dishes from the night were the Black Cod, New York Strip, and Brioche. Also really enjoyed the Fig Leaf and Sorrel. Not entirely sure that the menu was worth the $295 price tag as there were some dishes that I thought were just ok, but I did enjoy the meal. Service was as I would expect from a fine dining establishment. Food was brought out and everything was explained. Water was routinely refilled. Staff here were really nice and affable. It was nice to chat with them and feel relaxed. Ambience is superb. We had the fortune of sitting at their largest table, which was next to their open kitchen. More importantly, this table was also isolated from all the other tables in the restaurant. Made me feel like we had our own private area. Lighting was great and it wasn't loud at all. Very classy vibes in here. As far as parking, they partnered with the lot that is connected to the restaurant. Self-parking with validation is $12, which is pretty good considering this is Santa Monica. Overall, I really enjoyed my trip to Seline. I think that they definitely deserve one Michelin star at some point. Two stars may require some leveling up if they want to attempt that.

    A group of friends (total of 6) decided to come an celebrate our birthdays at SELINE after hearing so much buzz in their first year. We honestly could not stop gushing over the amazing experience! It exceeded our expectations and was the most unique and delicious tasting menu in LA in a long time. Chef Dave and his team wowed us with every dish and anecdote. Ann and the sommelier (didn't catch his name) were so lovely and funny! Chef Chris was a treat in the kitchen and made us feel so special. I was beyond impressed with the NA pairing. So much attention goes into their made in house drinks to complement the dishes and draw similarities in the wine pairing notes. I'm only saddened I can't buy bottles of their NA selections! The ambiance, attention to detail and complexities in each dish and drink are truly worthy of some Michelin stars! Thank you again for taking wonderful care of us! We had the best time!

    I had an amazing experience for my anniversary here! The staff was really friendly and accommodated all of my allergies and special request. I don't normally do a wine tasting, and I did for this meal, and the why not only complimented the food, but the choices were really unique. I had wine whereI had never tasted anything like it before. The dishes were also really good. The plating was done really nicely, but also the flavor combinations were all really unique and made for an overall great experience. I will say that it was a little bit expensive given that they just open and don't have any recognitions, but it was still really good. My favorite dish was the dessert dish that resembled mango and sticky rice instead of black sesame I had honeycomb which I really enjoyed. The steak was also delicious and I loved the fried ball of bread that came with it as well as the one bite in the leaf. They served a bite on an antler they served a freeze dried leaf, and they served a Thai salad inspired dish, but it came in an egg and was covered in a gelatin. Sounds weird, but was all very delicious and memorable! Overall, I think they could earn a larger recognition, but the staff should be more knowledgeable about the food given the price point. I feel like they weren't sure what they were describing and for someone who really enjoys these tasting menu experiences I wanted to understand exactly what was in the dish and I think that needs to come with a better description.     One of the best meals we've had in SoCal lately. Some restaurants don't deserve their star--and should hand it over to Seline instead. Creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. I haven't been wow'd by a dessert in a long time, but that carrot dessert? Unreal. Highly recommend.

    Possibility the finest dining experience available in LA right now. We came for my birthday and I'm so glad. It's such a special place and they make the celebration special. You enter through a courtyard into a stunning dining room which takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Each course (and there are a lot of them) tickles the taste buds and leave you wanting more. The service is impeccable. The server noticed I'm left handed and delivered courses and utensils on my left side. I got up to use the restroom and they immediately directed me. The chef came by a few times to describe the dishes and his inspiration. We ordered the wine pairing which was exquisite. This place is a must visit.

    My partner and I dined here in June of last year to celebrate his birthday. Having been mildly let down by our visit to Pasjoli the previous year, we were still looking forward to sharing this new tasting menu experience together. The first thing I noticed when entering the restaurant was a large and long table of plates lined up waiting to be prepped and how close it all was to the main entrance, a bit unusual and too close for comfort. The dining room provided a cozy and pleasant ambience -- in fact, it was our favorite part of the experience, albeit our comically large dining table and awkward height difference between one of us sitting in the chair and the other on the booth. Plating and presentation was unique to say the least and among the dozen or so dishes we had, most were just okay. The celery root icecream and grilled rockfish were the standouts of the night for me. Unfortunately, midway through the menu there was a bug in my partner's dish, which we removed ourselves at the table. When I brought this to a server's attention, the response was nothing more than something to the extent of "oh okay" or "oh I see". While he did remove the plate and offer a replacement, there was no apology or any expression of concern. He also asked if I would like a new one prepared for myself so that my partner and I could enjoy the dish together, which I appreciated, but declined. The dead bug actually remained on our table for some time and it wasn't until the host later came by to check on us and offer an apology that the table was cleaned and the situation felt more properly acknowledged. Still, it was played off as a joke that a visitor from their garden was crashing our dinner to enjoy the meal with us. He was respectful and doing his best to make light of the situation, but the initial handling of the issue felt rather dismissive overall, considering we were there for a special occasion. We didn't end up receiving anything complimentary, not that it was a gesture we were expecting anyway. But we did expect the situation to be handled better. Although Michelin is not always a definitive benchmark, Seline has a ways to go before it can ever earn its first star in my opinion. It is still new and as new restaurants go, there is always room for improvement and that comes with patience. However, that also means reaching a standard of not having off days, especially at that pricepoint.

    Completely obsessed with Seline. I had such an AMAZING time here. From the moment I walked through those doors, I was in awe of how special this restaurant truly is. Shoutout to Ann, Austin + all the amazing staff here for making my night here so memorable. Tasting menu of 15 dishes came out to $295 per person. EVERY dish was so unique. They even took time telling a story about each. They sat us at their biggest table, and even though we didn't get a view of the cook station, it was SUPER bougie and made it feel even more special. I felt like I was having dinner with idk Paris Hilton or something. Hahahaa Honestly came back RAVING about this place. Had so much fun interacting with all the staff members. Their menu changes seasonally and I CAN NOT WAIT TO COME BACK !!!

    Navigate through the Bird Scooters scooting and the helmetless bike riders hurling invectives at you as you cross the bike lane to make a right turn. Find the Valet in an underground garage and he will walk you to the Iron Door. Walk into the black interior where the bright spot is the smile and sincere welcome from the Hostee. Follow the shadow to your two top which is larger than the desk in the Oval Office. Settle in as the music loop unspools a series of drum solos interspersed with alternative tunes that pulsate and soothe at the same time. The decor is basic black with spot lights illuminating a few couch art paintings on the walls. Seline is sophisticated, adult, elegant, rich and classy. There is a distinct Euro vibe to the place and you'll feel like you are dining in some A-Lister's private home only to realize Chef Beran popped up with his passion project to temp and please you. And he will. There is a large open kitchen where a large squadron of line/prep cooks are all in motion making magic. Seline is truly up to the the standard of a place that is far beyond the standard of fine dining. The Staff: Engaging and efficient. Twelve Servers served fifteen courses all plated in dedicated handmade platforms. Don't be put off when you're asked not eat the dishes, as they are that pretty. Every Server wanted to be there and made me fell like I did too. Surreptitiously, someone will slip the Wine List onto the table and politely ask to see your D & B Profile. The Wine List Book deep and eclectic but may require dipping into the Trust Fund Principal. But then you're at Seline so you must be a player who's Rollie cost more than a Porsche. Dive in, hit the throttle, and order a bottle. The Cocktail you needed to take the edge off the Freeway slog is a block away at Pasjoli as it's Beer and Wine only here, along with Non Alkie options, so, a glass of the 2022 Sesti Monteleccio Sangiovese set the tone and made perfect sense. The Food: Consider if Providence and Vespertine had a love child and named it Seline. This is culinary theater without theatrics. Fifteen linked Amuse Bouche coarse await you. From the Bouche to the toosh in thirty bites of bliss. The food is composed, well thought out, celebrated by Chef and Diner, as if it was the first night at the Bocuse D'Or. Every plate of food is gorgeous enough to make Thomas Keller or Grant Achatz take a knee, kiss the ring and wish they'd thought of the idea you're eating. Each dish could be framed and hung at the Louvre or bolted onto the hood of vintage Bentley. The menu is seasonal and partially impulse driven. Chef Beran can bring it, for sure. And here's what they might bring: 1. The Mushroom Tea which took a few days to brew for you was fabulous. So relish the cup of unami'd forest floor. 2. The Roasted Leeks on a Quenelle of Eucalyptus Pudding was a study in taste and texture. 3. Shucked Mussels, Kombi and Persian Cucumber curls. Fill a spoon with all three if you know what's good for you. 4. Maitake, Burnt Onion and Dates was a dish where each ingredient took a solo but played best as a trio. 5. Celery, Dry Aged Beef Tartare lurking underneath along with a sprinkle of savory Granola would make a busload of Vegans line up to get some. 6. Chestnut, Brown Butter and Malted Banana was way too cool and almost as crazed as the next course. 7. Frozen Mustard laced with seedless Passion Fruit paste followed by a Liquid Nitrogen dipped Candied Collard Green. Yup, it was crazed...and delightfully delicious. 8. The Watercress Salad, Shiso, and Cabbage cooked in half a Squash was awash with terrific taste. 9. Grilled Sea Bass was a bad ass with Broccolini and Stone Rose Leaf. (A Mexican Herb). This Bass had pizazz. 10. The rest of the Squash with Apple and Truffle couldn't muffle my compliments to the kitchen. 11. Into the weeds next with a Deconstructed Squab (when you're paying this much for dinner it is a Squab, otherwise it's a Pidgeon from the neighbor's roof). The Breast bracketed the Fennel Stuffed Leg will make you beg for more. 12. But wait...then you'll be served the Squab Liver, Bitter Chocolate Skin, Heart and Hazelnut with Strawberry Reduction. You'll sing this bird's the word at concert volume. 13. Caviar Toast, Hazelnuts in a Coffee Anglaise put me a haze of joy. 14. Persimmon, Black Sesame, Whipped Coconut was truly spectacular. This dessert was divine and proof that God exists. 15. Finally, the show ended with an encore of a Vanilla Ice Cream and Herb Sandwich which was amazing. Seline=sublime.

    We visited Seline the second day that it opened. The entrance is unique with the large double doors outdoors, a nice stroll to the inner doors with music sets the mood to transport you to another place. The inside is welcoming with an immediate entrance looking into the kitchen, books on the left give it a feeling of a place you could come to research or find something new. The seating area feels like a big dark living room with several large david Choe works. I also admired the ginkgo leaf Light fixture on one end. Anyway onto the drinks. As a lightweight myself, I did not opt for the pairing but neighboring tables had great things to say about it. We opted for a bottle that the som recommended and were delighted with the choice - he's super knowledgeable and fun to chat with. I snapped a pic of it and he told me you had to be on a list to be able to acquire the wines. Since there are too many dishes to write about I will focus on my top few. The first course was a mushroom tea, a beautiful bouquet of mushrooms. Again art. The flavor was delightful and well balanced, woodsy, you could see and taste the nori oils on top. A great start. The chawanmuhsi was perfectly delicate and paired with a roe dish or a smoked trout dish. I enjoyed these two accompaniments equally and kept spooning them atop the silky egg. My favorite dish had to be the squash. I'm not really sure what kind of wizardry they are doing here but they mentioned there were just 5 ingredients to this dish but how? I can't adequately put into words how much I loved this dish- run to Seline for this dish alone. My favorite dessert was the black sesame bark with persimmon and fig leaf. We have a fig tree at home and often make my own fig leaf simple syrup and could immediately taste the wonderful nuttiness only a fig leaf can offer. And as someone that isn't the biggest fan of persimmon, this dish exceeded my expectations. Everything was wonderful- we've dined with the chef Dave Beran before at Pasjoli and have enjoyed seeing him in the Bear. We were super happy to be back to try his new restaurant. We never made it out to Dialogue due to having tiny children at the time and also because of the pandemic. I think if you come with an open mind and take a minute to enjoy the flavors and invention, you will have a wonderful experience.

    Wow! Just wow! Where to begin...from the moment you walk past the wooden door entrance you really do feel like you transported to a new realm. Nice dimly lit interior with an open kitchen aspect. It was calm and quiet but at the same time you can feel the energy. Service from start to finish was impeccable. We went with the non alcoholic pairing which consisted of fresh made ciders and kombucha. The drinks alone were a star but paired with all of the courses of food, it was an amazing combination for your palate. I think there was 17 courses in total and it really is hard to say which was the best. The smoked sturgeon and the pheasant really stood out to me. The short rib was also so delicious. There were so many items on the tasting menu that are not common in most restaurants which was a true differentiator. Scallop, leek, Dungeness crab, black cod, preserved cherries, venison, celery root, maitake mushrooms, pumpkin, beef tendon, caviar, grapes, donuts rounded out the ingredients for the rest of the experience. The overall price per person is a bit expensive but I think every penny was well spent. I would for sure go back for another special occasion but on a different season of the year to try other items that are prime for eating. I'll post a few pics of the meal to not ruin the fun for anyone planning to dine soon if they are still serving a similar menu.

I am still a bit under the weather and drove here because I wanted some kind of seafood soup. They offer three different kinds of soups which I appreciated! There is NE clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder and a fish chowder. Since I dont always see fish chowder on the menu, I ordered a small bowl. I wanted a larger bowl and a place to sit down and eat it but the place was packed for lunch and I didnt feel like grabbing a spot at their bar as I needed to get back on the road, so just went with the small (and I am glad I did - read on to see why). They have a funny system here because you only order their menu items from a cashier in the back, but then take a number if you want fresh seafood. I wanted to try their Hawaiian style poke and cashier had me go and grab a number. I grabbed a number and it wasn't busy so I was served immediately. For a 1/4 lb of Hawaiian poke, it was about $9.50. Whats also strange is that I grabbed my soup (did not pay for it in the back), and my Hawaiian poke and then paid up front. Everything came close to $20. I sat in my car, (which thank goodness, this seafood market has its own parking lot, so that was greatly appreciated), and dug into my soup. Unfortunately, the soup was pretty bland and needed a bit more salt. But, I will say that the ingredients used in the fish chowder were all very fresh, and fish wasnt overcooked, but it needed to be seasoned more. Hawaiian poke was great, excellent taste. Overall, a so so experience, I would have liked better scenery to eat my food being I was very close to the beach and wished I had a more seasoned fish chowder. I could be convinced to come back and give it a second try, but I think I might prefer to visit Malibu Seafood which isnt too far from here and has great ocean views.

The Santa Monica Pier to loads of fun and has fine dinning and cheap eats along with rides and shops. One of the great places to eat is The Albright. We just love it and go whenever we can. Now, parking is in the huge lot at the bottom of the pier for a fee and then there is a lot of walking to get where you want to go. Get ready for that. The area is safe and super pretty. I don't think they take reservations. You can dine there or do take away. If you can eat there it is fun. The place is super cute with lots of tables and it is clean. The service is very good and the servers seem happy. All of their food is great. We love their calamari and get it every time we go. All the seafood is super. Now, this looks like a mid range place, but if has fine dinning prices, but it is worth it because it is all so great and much of it fresh. We love their seafood platter which is snow crab claws, fresh oysters on the half shell, tail on shrimp, Peruvian scallops, green-lipped mussels, mini Mexican shrimp, mignonette, garlic aioli, classic cocktail sauce & lemons. Grilled oysters are hard to find and boy do they make them well. They are 1/2 dozen oysters grilled with garlic butter & parmesan. They even have great fish tacos. We love the grilled Mahi Mahi which is a taco with cabbage, pico de gallo, chipotle lime aioli It comes with white rice & black beans. Everything there is great. Have the best time.
