A friend and I went to PC on a Thursday night for happy hour after shopping on the Promenade. Let me just say that Samantha the bartender/host is exactly the person you want greeting you for a chill happy hour. She is super friendly, accommodating, patient.. all of the things. She Recommended drinks and made sure to come correct on the alcohol level. I generally believe that restaurants and bars have secretly stopped serving actual alcohol in their drinks but not at PC. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived but really picked up once we were leaving about 7. My only complaint and thus the loss of a star is that PC does serve smaller portions for Happy Hour. First time I honored my free birthday bowl online. It was easy! I filled out the online order, got a text message to say it was ready to be picked up, picked up my order of a West Coast Salmon bowl at a side entrance to the restaurant. I had high hopes but everything was just kind of sub-par food. While it all looked nice, there was just not a lot of flavor. I've had poke fish straight from the sea with no sauce that had more taste. Also, oddly enough the Sriracha sauce even lacked any flavor, I had to ask my bf to try it because I thought maybe I was being picky, and he agreed. The best bite I had was of his "wagyu" burger. Service was okay, but both of our cocktails came out after our food which showed they forgot about them. The drinks weren't too memorable. The food itself was all fresh and tasted good. I got the fish tacos with a side of Brussel sprouts. The sprouts were a bit sweet, but to my liking. The avocado and tuna appetizer was definitely a shareable portion and a great deal. I run past this spot every Monday with my Midnight Runners group, and the semi-outdoor patio has always caught my eye. I've been meaning to try it out, so I was excited when my coworkers suggested it as a happy hour spot after an early day off from work recently. It lived up to the vibe. Drinks were solid--my margarita hit the spot and leaned nicely tropical. Happy hour prices are good, but fair warning: some of the portions are on the smaller side (like the chips and salsa, which is more like pico de gallo.) Still, the atmosphere alone makes it worth it. It's got a super fun, laid-back vibe which makes it a great place to unwind. And if you wait a bit after Aloha Hour you can take a little walk to watch the sun set over the ocean. Wow.....Just wow...... Pacific Catch exceeded my expectations! The fish was incredibly fresh, and you could really taste the quality in every bite. I ordered the Salmon Bowl and the Miso Cod, and both were absolutely delicious. The salmon was perfectly prepared, and the miso cod was tender, flavorful, and melted in my mouth. Came here with the fam after family photos and it was one of the few places still open around 9 on a weeknight AND the allowed our little fur baby. We had the whole patio to ourselves. It had been raining so it was sorta chilly and wet outside but the patio is covered and it had a fireplace as well as heaters so it worked out. I even got so hot at some point I had to take off my jacket. They have a doggie menu and they bring out a bowl of water just for your fur baby. She even got some pets. Service was great. Even though we were like the only ones left in the restaurant, I never felt rushed or like some places that rudely try to push you out. Our waitress was super friendly and nice. Food came out relatively quick. The appetizers were better than the main course but the dessert was good too. Ceviche was a winner and so good we didn't take a pic cause we were hungry. The lobster roll was good too. The miso cod was ok but the rice was dry and the green beans weren't great. The salmon with chimichurri sauce was overcooked and the kimchi fried rice which I didn't have but my son did said it lacked flavor. Lovely restaurant! Brought 2 coworkers here for dinner and it was great. We sat outside which really seems more like inside. The top is uncovered, but there were heaters and glass sort of blocking us in. I really liked the atmosphere! First, our service was absolutely wonderful! Some of our party could be a bit much and he was great when there was lots of talking. The food was really good as well! I was debating between a couple of things and went with the platter that was fish, coconut shrimp, and calamari. Lots of food and big shrimp! One of our party had the lobster and they loved it. I was just a little disappointed in the food. We came during the aloha hour and I got the salmon chowder and the taco platter. Idk if they just waited to run the food a bit bc of my friends coconut shrimp or what but it wasn't hot, wasn't cold either but like even the tacos seemed a little soggy or maybe the tortilla wasn't thoroughly cooked bc it just kinda fell apart. Pacific Catch offers a phenomenal happy hour just steps from the beach which is exactly why I dined here in late July with a couple of friends. It's easy to find, laid-back, and makes for a perfect spot to unwind after a long day - or week, like I did. The seafood is undeniably fresh, so if you're craving fish, poke, or tacos in Santa Monica, I would recommend Pacific Catch! On my visit I started with the Guaca-Poke which was exactly what it sounds like - guacamole with fresh tuna poke. The tuna was so fresh and so flavorful and oooh the creamy guac was great, too! To drink, I ordered the "Feel No Pain" that was basically a virgin pina colada (yum) and super refreshing, balanced, and thoughtfully crafted (not too sweet!). I also got the Spicy Tuna Roll and, thinking I wasn't quite full, I made what turned out to be a mistake ordering the Crispy Baja Cod Taco - not because it wasn't delicious (it absolutely was) - but because I underestimated the portion! Even during happy hour, the serving sizes are no joke! It wasn't long before I was STUFFED! Really my only complaint about Pacific Catch during my happy hour visit in late July was the service. Our server was Dylan P. and while he wasn't terrible, he was very slow and inattentive, especially because happy hour only goes until a certain time and I needed our server to actually check in on us to see if we wanted to order anything else (which I did...!). Even so, the fresh seafood, fun atmosphere, and excellent happy hour made up for the lackluster service. All in all, Pacific Catch is a great place to grab fresh seafood and drinks in Santa Monica. My husband and I both ordered the miso glazed cod. My entrée arrived first, but it wasn't hot--it tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The fish was only warm, while the rice and vegetables were actually cold. To make matters worse, my husband's identical entrée didn't arrive until about 15-20 minutes later. We were seated at the bar, and the bartender/server clearly noticed that only one entrée had been served, yet never acknowledged the situation or checked in with us. I finally had to ask where my husband's meal was. She said she would look into it, then came back and told me there was either a 15- or 50-minute hold on orders because the restaurant was so busy--I honestly couldn't understand which she said. I completely understand that delays happen when a restaurant is busy. What didn't make sense was bringing out only one of our entrées and leaving the other person waiting. If there was a kitchen hold, why not serve both dishes together, or at least explain the delay before I had to ask? What disappointed me most was the lack of customer service. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and the response came across as dismissive. A little communication and empathy would have gone a long way. read more

I'm all for having children at a restaurant as long as they can behave and sit at the table. It doesn't even have to be quiet most of the time, kids make noise, I get it. But this place was like the Olive Garden of seafood with screaming babies and children wandering through the aisles with entitled parents walking behind them, "pretending" to do something about it. It was extremely disruptive, and as a business you obviously can't kick anyone out, but it would've been very thoughtful if the manager or someone came around and acknowledged to the disruptive noise. Not sure if this is a regular thing at this restaurant but it did not make a good first impression. Unfortunately the food was nothing to boast about either. The calamari that was supposed to be "really good" (according to our server) was mediocre. And the lobster roll?! Umm what lobster?! The bread to lobster ratio was way off. The small pieces of lobster was bland, flavorless and I had to ask for salt. I ended up leaving half the roll and just ate the lobster bits. Fries were not crispy and also bland. I looked up the gluten free menu on my own because they have a QR code. It was supposed to be shrimp ceviche. What came out was basically green avocado soup like material with what looked like two pieces of cut up shrimp thrown on the top. I could tell the shrimp was thrown on top because I had no sauce on it. OK whatever, we were hungry so we ate it and it was exactly how it looked. Tasted like lime and nothing more and soupy. Then wait brought us water and the glasses were disgustingly dirty. We didn't even drink the water because of that. Then our entrées come out and my tacos have a slaw on it with mayo. Mayo has eggs, which I'm allergic to. Also, NO pineapple salsa. The waiter never came back so I had to flag down the host. He was very sweet and asked if they could re-fire it but I declined because we were on a time limit. It took so long for food we had to renew our parking meter 3x! They removed it from my bill, but the food was disgusting, they almost gave me food with an allergy, the water glasses were dirty, and the appetizer was disgusting.
