I tried this deli purely on Yelp rating; I'm on a never-ending search for the perfect Italian cold cut sub (and am getting tired of being disappointed!). My search, while not over, has become less urgent - the sub I got today was pretty amazing! Just the standard "cold cut sub with everything", but boy, they got it right! The flavor was the perfect balance of meats, cheese, and the zing from the hot peppers. (Yes, I know, not traditional, but quite enjoyable.) I'll definitely be back for a steak & cheese, my hot sub benchmark. My rating will go to 5 stars if that goes well. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars solely based on their Italian sub w/ everything and because the people behind the counter (I assume the owners, but I don't know their names and haven't asked) are very nice and efficient. They also have a good chip and snack selection, decent beer, and a surprising variety of non-alcoholic drinks too. I considered giving 4 stars because I don't think they have a great wine selection and the wine is expensive for what it is (though it may be similar to other MoCo wine stores -- I'm used to DC prices). Additionally, I haven't loved the other sandwiches I've gotten there. They weren't bad -- but I never ordered anything besides the Italian twice. After trying a couple of others, I decided to stop exploring. The Italian is clearly where it's at. I used to live a block from Mangialardo's on Capitol Hill SE. These definitely remind me of those. Mangialardo's are definitely more authentic -- and I love the hard roll option. However, their hours completely sucked. I only got to eat them once in a while because of that. Stopped by for a bit to eat after visiting Staples next door. Was pleasantly surprised! Looks more like a liquor and beer store, but the front counter also has a decent sized menu of hot and cold deli sandwiches. You can also order deli meat to go- a good sign in my eyes, so you know they take some pride in their meats. Ordered a cold turkey club sandwich and a hot pastrami sandwich. Tasty, packed with meat, and affordable! Nothing too fancy, but if you're in the area and want to try something new, this is the place. I stopped by here the other night to pick up a 12-pack of Corona on the way to my friend's birthday celebration. I knew exactly what I had to pick up, so made a beeline to the fridge in the back where the cold beers were stored. While I was back there, I also took some money out of the ATM. Very convenient. The men that rang me up were very nice and chatted me up about my name. They weren't flirting - just being nice. I say goodbye and went on my way. About five-steps away from the store, the handle on the case gave out and I dropped the entire box. Every bottle in there broke and erupted all over the sidewalk. Party foul for me, and the party hadn't even started. I was fully ready to go back in there and pay for a new case because it was my own stupidity to not be extra careful and hold the case with two hand. However, the manager there was so nice and told for me to go ahead, pick up another case ... and even had their security guy carry it out to my car for me. Such a nice gesture! For that gesture alone, I will come back here again in the future. Oh and they carried Delirium Tremens! Gotta come back and pick some of that up for Kevin L! read more

I can't say enough good about this Deli. I remember it from growing up in the area and I was so glad it was still here when I came back. I have never gotten anything bad from them besides perhaps a can or bottle I didn't care for (and that's not their fault). They have an AMAZING selection of beer, wine, and cider. The employees are always very polite and can answer any question you have. THEN, there's the deli. We somehow lived here for multiple years before trying the food. That was such a mistake. The nothing bad rule goes to their food, too. We've had a whole variety of the foods they make and serve and it's always good. You can call your order in ahead, but you usually will only have to wait about five minutes anyway. I love supporting local businesses, especially ones that are so great! read more

Good traditional deli sandwiches! All ingredients seem always fresh and taste great. Excellent Reuben! The place gets busy at lunch time so count on spending about 10 min waiting for your sandwich if you come around noon-1pm. Bring cash, they have a credit card minimum. It's a take out place - they have 2 or 3 little tables you could possibly sit down at to eat your sandwich, but not the most appetizing ambiance of a liquor store :) Tons of wines and beers, quite overpriced on wines compared to other stores though. read more

I really only came here to grab a bottle of champagne/sparkling wine for a dinner party I was heading to. They seemed to have a good selection, including a pretty impressive collection of chilled beer and wine (including sparkling wine/champagne of various prices). It was definitely better than I was expecting, especially for a little store in a suburban strip mall. I was in and out pretty quickly. Prices seemed to be pretty comparable to other beer/wine stores in the MD suburbs of DC. Obviously the main draw of this establishment is the alcohol, but their deli is actually pretty good. A friend and I came here the other day and we got some food and drink (non-alcoholic sadly). My buddy got a BLT and I got the tuna melt. The sandwiches are made to order, which is nice, and they taste pretty good. They won't knock you off your feet but they work in a pinch. The cashier was very friendly and let my friend use his card even though they have a $10 minimum for cards (his total was only $8.50). If you happen to roll your own smokes, they also seem to sell loose rolling tobacco as well as filters. You can get almost all your sinnin' done here, they just need a stripper pole and some lottery tickets. read more

The wine selection is average, as is the beer selection. The reason to stop here is the deli. They have some of the best cold sandwiches in the neighborhood. Woodside Deli across the street is very, very good, but I actually get subs from Beer, Wine, Deli more often. They're just as good if you're looking for a cold sub, and the price is much better. Seminary beer wine and deli is my go to....can quickly pick up a turkey sub and a bottle of wine.... The deli is great - made to order subs. They also have a "special of the day." Friendly workers, but a bit pricey. They have a good selection of wine but wouldnt stop in for any specialty beer - mostly have bud and corona products. read more

Check your receipt carefully. Several times I've felt like my bill was strangly high, but they don't provide an itemized receipt. So, today I finally asked for one, and they had doubled the tax. I complained, and the woman told me it was a problem with my credit card (which I use all the time with no problems), and I had to come back the next day to talk to the manager. This place has a solid selection of beer and wine, including microbrews and Belgians. I've never used the deli, but they do appear to have a decent amount of cheeses and meats as well. This isn't a huge emporium, but does a nice job of being the local liquor store with an above-average sensibility for quality. It's also usually deserted, so service is quick and friendly.
