VERY helpful and friendly people. My mom and I went in to shop for her dress for my wedding because she knows the owner. What a nice store! There are a few places with huge mirrors where you can step up and take a better look at your dress. Marion is one of the seamstresses and she's sooo sweet. You can tell they care about the people here because they are not pushy (one reason I wanted to avoid David's Bridal). My mom tried on a bunch of dresses and the girls were quite honest with her. They told her if a dress didn't flatter her...But, they said it in a nice and straight forward way. They carry a nice selection of prom and formal dresses too, as well as accessories. Absolute WORST Bridal shop I've worked with. It's my third time being a bridesmaid and giving this shop over $200 for a dress to be treated so poorly. I'm on the west coast so literally all they had to do was take my measurements over the phone, order the dress then make $200 off me.... But apparently they threw in offending me for free. I gave my measurements and in a rude tone the woman commented that I'm too big for a size 4 and needed to size up. If there was literally any way I could've avoided giving them my money I would've but my love for the bride overcame and I shelled out the dough. Pros: we are getting a solid deal on the attire for my groomsmen and the woman who helped us was very nice. Cons: essentially every other aspect of dealing with this bullshit establishment. The play-by-play is unimportant but rest assured, it has been awful at every turn. The previous negative reviews nail it, so read those if you haven't already. I would advise that, if you place a premium on good customer service and friendly disposition, you go literally anywhere else. Like, you might have a better experience attempting to procure bridal attire if you wandered into a random Arby's. Also, shout out to an older blonde woman there named Kim, who was an absolute sack of garbage to customers and other staff alike. Paid for tux shirt April 27, by May 25 still haven't heard anything. Called and they said "oh it's prom season, we don't order retail until June 1". I explained that I was told 2-weeks at time of order. They said they would rush it and get it to me today May 28. Today went by with no phonecall so, I raced there after work because they close at 5:30. As of 5:15 today, not only were the phones turned off, no answering machine, store was dark, locked up with the closed sign on. Very unprofessional staff that doesn't know what they are doing. Sempliner's Bridal Salon - Bridal Near Me - Bay City, Michigan

I purchased a Maid of Honor Dress from Sempliner's in December 2018 for a wedding on June 8th 2019. I called in Around April or May to find out when the dress would be in and was told not for a few more weeks, I was also told I would be called when it arrived. I called last week (a week and a half before the wedding). I was told it had just shipped and they would call me as soon as it was in. Mind you I like over an hour from Bay City and work so dropping everything to come get a dress in Bay City on short notice is not easy. Tuesday at noon I received the call that the dress was ready. The bride who lives that way picked it up Wednesday and brought it to me after I got out of work last night. Imagine my horror and hers when the dress I was measured for is waaaaay too big in the top, with boob cups that are huge. And two days to get it altered. Two days that I work and go to class. That I am unable to take time off from. I called Sempliner's thirty minutes ago and was informed that the contract stated no returns for something specially ordered, and when informing them that it does not fit was offered altering, when I know for a fact that good altering takes more time than that. Not only that, but I was then informed that I had been given the smallest size the company offers, like okay and if you know that is the smallest size why did you not inform me of the measurements for that particular dress? Or that the company only goes down to size two. But regardless of sizing availability I should have received the dress with way more than enough time to get it altered, I understand the contract has a "no return policy" but when a business gives you a dress 3.5 days before a event, that is a scam. I should be speaking with the owner tomorrow so I will make an update at that point, but to me the only viable remedy for this situation is to give me my money back, because I bought a smaller dress on my lunch break today that actually fits. read more

What a horrible experience I recently had at Sempliner's! I had been months ago to try on bridal dresses (didn't end up buying there) and the experience was underwhelming but fine. A few days ago I went with two girlfriends to try on and order our bridesmaid dresses for another friends wedding. We called ahead to say we'd be coming and that we'd like to try on all the dress choices the bride had given us and were told no appointment was necessary. Since we called ahead however, I thought they would have a clue we were coming and maybe pull out some of the dresses. Instead the woman (who appeared to be the manager) greeted me very rudely and said she didn't have all the info she needed from the bride, which is really none of my business and why would I have that info or give it to her? Then my friends and I waited a total of at least 30 minutes for the salesgirl to find the dresses we had asked to try on. Finally, when we were about to place our order, the manager blew up at the poor salesgirl about code numbers and actually said "this is the kind of thing I have nightmares about." Horrified, I didn't know what to say and I now deeply regret giving such a terrible place my money. We were shocked, but [regrettably now] not rude enough ourselves to storm out. It was more the tone of EVERYTHING they said, than the content of the things that were said to us. But as a bridal salon, I expect a happy experience-maybe not magical, but at least not rude and condescending. Bottom line: if you want to have a pleasant time shopping for bridal, bridesmaid or prom dresses, go anywhere else but here. read more

WARNING!! Don't walk, RUN in the other direction. This bridal shop is the absolute worse place ever and I have 4 daughters so I have had experience ordering at several bridal shops. I am leaving town for wedding in 2 weeks and my dress has been ordered and paid in full since October 31, 2015. I have called and spoke with the staff several times regarding arrival of my dress and was given 5 different reasons why it has not arrived. I have ordered from the same designer in the past and their production time is 12 weeks which is fact because I have personally called and asked them. My dress should have been in by January 31st. So there aren't any answers as to where my dress is and why my dress hasn't arrived to Sempliners yet Almost 2 months late. There seems to be a pattern in these reviews. This company has your money in there hands for as long as they possibly can. This should be an indication to any potential customers to STAY AWAY from here regardless of any discounts offered or you will regret it. read more

My daughter and I went wedding dress shopping here, our very first experience, which should be a happy, fun one. The people that work here did not help put on dresses, find dresses or anything else. They only thing they did do was put the dresses back on the hangars and walk away in a sigh, as if we were an annoyance. We went back a second time with all my daughter's bridesmaids because she thought she had found the dress she wanted. When we walked in, we were informed we had one hour as they closed then. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere and receiving the experience I was expecting. I would not ever recommend them. Ever! read more

Unfortunately my experience in working with Sempliner's is not over. Here is my experience this far. Shopping and the staff's help was great! But once I paid their help discontinued. On the date I purchased my dress they specifically told me it would be in "no later than the end of March".... Well today is now April 17th.... And no dress. Receiving the dress by the end of March was extremely important as my wedding is about 2 months away and I have no dress. They have been less then helpful and show minimal concern about my dress being on time. I'm not sure what to do but I really hope my time working with them end extremely soon!! We stopped in looking for a wedding dress for myself. Most places assign you a "helper" that will help you shop what you are looking for and help you try the dress on in the fitting room. This place didn't. The lady pointed us in a direction of wedding dresses and walked into a back room, leaving my mom and I by ourselves. Their selection was very small and limited. When I asked for a certain style and designer, the lady said she had never heard of it. The two dresses that I did try on, I had to put it on by myself and have my mom zip it for me. That normally wouldn't be a problem but for one of the dresses she moved the zipper too far too fast and it ripped. Oops. But that's what you get when you don't help your customers. We left the store without even a "goodbye" or "have a nice day". I won't be recommending this place to anyone anytime soon. read more

This bridal shop has a variety of dresses to choose from. The saleswomen are fairly nice and helpful, however, the owner Kim is so rude and disrespectful to both her employees and costumers. The multiple times I've been in there to look at bridesmaids dresses or shop with my mom for mother of the bride dresses I've heard her yelling at other staff members or being snippy and short with customers. Find another profession if you hate being around people so much! People come into your store to shop for dresses for special occasions, their shopping experience should be special as well, not uncomfortable. read more

Shopped here with my friend who was the bride at the time. The staff we worked with was very nice and helpful...but they need some work on their measuring skills. They took her measurements and when her dress came in 5 months later it was 2+ sizes to large. Mind you she lost 5 pounds, but 5 pounds of weight lost doesnt equal up to a dress being 2+ sizes to large. She luckily took it else where to be altered and they were able to change the dress so it fit her better. read more

The phrase "Illegal and questionable business practices" comes to mind when I think back on our experience. The overall atmosphere provided by the employees was abysmal. Both myself and my fiancé had nothing but problems when visiting this store. Instead of making our experience one worth remembering, they gave us one we will never forget. Rather than giving a full list of their failures I will simply list the highlights of our experience. 1. Extremely rude staff - both exchanges with customers and other employees. 2. Inaccurate information - every time we double checked information we were given it had changed. 3. Unauthorized credit card charges - they went outside the guide lines of their contract and without phone call or authorization charged a card used for a deposit for more money. 4. Measured tuxes wrong - Nearly every tux had been measure wrong in multiple dimensions. 5. Refused to accept responsibility - Rather than apologizing they argued at every mistake they had made. read more

I've have two experiences with Sempliners. Both were awful. First, was when I was a bridesmaid in a friends wedding. They were flat out rude when I went to pick up the dress and said I was taking it to my own seamstress for alterations. The lady literally rolled her eyes at me. A few years went by and I heard they had new owners so I went there to look for flower girl dresses for my own wedding (I had an appointment). We walked in and waited 15-minutes for someone to help us. She pulled the dress that I liked and my flower girl tried it on. We liked it so she needed to be measured. The lady who was helping us said we had to wait for another lady to measure. When she told the measuring lady that my flower girl needed to be measured, she literally raised her voice and said, "I can't right now!" Then she preceded to say she was busy with two brides and it is just a flower girls dress that doesn't even need to be ordered yet. The original lady turned to me and said did you hear that? I said yes, loud and clear. I told them we are ordering the dress today. The dress came in and the mother of the flower girl went to pick it up. When she got there it looked like the dress was missing tulle and the lady was like no it needs to be steamed and asked if she wanted it steamed. She said Of course she wants it steamed. Then she said she didn't have time to do it that day (she drove 45 minutes for nothing). Why wouldn't they have steamed the dress for pick up! So that was back in February. It is now May and she hadn't heard back from the salon so she called. The lady said its prom season I don't have time to steam it. They've had the dress since February! It wasn't prom season then! This place need to be shut down. So unprofessional and rude. Thank God I didn't buy my dress or my bridesmaids dresses from there. I would rather pay 10X more for a dress and go someplace else. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! Do not go to this place. The staff is extremely rude. They ordered my dress way too big; probably 4 sizes too big. I told them what size I wanted and the lady said "oh no you are not that size". I went in to try it on months before the wedding and they measured for alterations; they were supposed to call me when they were done so I could come in with my shoes to measure for the hem. They never called, so I called them the week of the wedding and they said that I could not pick up the bridesmaid dress until the day before the wedding at 5:00 p.m.! That it was standard procedure. The night before the wedding is when the rehersal dinner was! (obviously), so my husband had to run and pick it up, and no surprise it was still WAY too big on me! and it was not hemed! I would never recommend anyone go here if you care about how you're treated. The ladies that work here are extremely rude! My friend and I were being fitted for our dresses (she was the bride I was a bridesmaid) we arrived 10 minutes early to her fitting that she had scheduled. There was only 1 man in the whole place and we were yelled at that we were early and we'd have to wait bc they were "busy" now, I've never been yelled at for being EARLY To anything. If they had been "busy" I'd get it but there were 4 workers and one man there was getting a tux. They treated both of us very unkindly and after giving us a room they left my friend in her bridal gown for about 15 minutes before they came back to see how it fit. When I came to pick up my bridesmaids dress I came on a Tuesday afternoon (wedding was the coming Saturday) they told me they had to press it and I couldn't get it until after 5pm on Thursday. To me I think that's pretty stupid. The wedding is Saturday, and never Did they mention I couldn't pick it up before Thursday before I went in there. they could of offered to press it early since I was there. So I showed back up on Friday morning at 10am when they opened. They didn't show up to the store until 10:15 so I just stood outside waiting for someone to show up to work. During the wedding my dress broke in two different places and it was wrinkled. (So was everyone else's) when I called them about it they were very rude to me about it. Even the groomsmen said the ladies were super rude to them. I will never step foot in there again and I would never ever recommend that place to anyone!!! Don't go there! read more
