I was eager to check out the happy hour menu since it's been a while since we've had dinner here. Sadly, I'd have to agree with some of the other recent reviews - prices aren't worth what you get. The ambiance and service was great - Yasbel was nice and attentive. Plenty of parking at this location and easy to get to. I did see another table got the sliders and that seems like it would at least be more filling with their brioche buns. The steak bites had a good sear and flavor but the steak sauce tasted like a sweet BBQ and not in a good way - very vanilla-y. The petite salad was maybe 2 or 3 bites - very petite indeed. The shrimp cocktail was worse - the shrimp was tough and the cocktail sauce had no seasoning. It was basically just ketchup. The price for these two items and a glass of house wine came out to $40. I'm happy I tried it out but now I know I'm not interested in the happy hour going forward. read more

Date of visit: February 5, 2026 Team: Jeff and Nancy Regularly rated one of the best restaurants in the area by various publications, I took advantage of some Bartalotta gift cards that we had received for various occasions and never got around to using to get together with some friends that we hadn't seen yet this year. Half of us arrived early and were warmly shown to our table, even letting us slide over to a table against the wall that felt a bit more comfortable for us until the rest of our party arrived. Tables are a bit close together so be careful when getting up, you're liable to bump into a fellow patron. Things started out well with Jeff and Nancy but he really did not seem to care for the lone woman in our party, dismissing her substitution request for the bacon on the twice-baked potato as she was vegetarian and then offering no other option. His future interactions with her were a bit gruff as well, which was just odd. She noticed that another patron appeared to have dropped something underneath their table and when she brought it to Jeff's attention, he just said, "Oh," and went over to that table, almost as if she had again asked for some unreasonable substitution to her meal. Outside of that, everything was pretty good, if definitely pricey. My steak sandwich was very juicy, and the shellfish soup was quite good, pairing well with the warm bread brought to the table. Don't bother trying to pull them apart, there's plenty for everyone in that basket! Our friends did not really care for their cauliflower steak, apparently a poor follow up to one they had at a restaurant in Madison the previous month, though the mushrooms were a big hit. In my experience, you can't go wrong when you choose a Bartolotta restaurant, and this place is no exception. Beautiful interior with warm lighting creates a cozy and elegant experience. The two servers assigned to our table of 8 were friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and quick. Then there's the food, which was absolutely amazing. My husband ordered three appetizers as his meal, and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was very rich and flavorful with a nice crunch on top, although the lobster pieces were on the smaller side and not overwhelming in number. The Wagyu Meatballs were not as tender or juicy as expected, but were delicious. The nicely sized dollop of ricotta on top was a nice touch. I had the Califlower Steak, which was a first for me. It. Was. Fantastic! The califlower was cut thick and roasted to perfection, creating a wonderfully firm yet tender texture. The accompanying flavors and textures made this dish smell and taste amazing. I had previously gone to Joey Gerard's and hated it. Food and service was horrible. This place made up for Joeys ten fold. JEFF AND ARNOLD ARE ANGELS SENT TO THIS EARTH FROM UP ABOVE. They are funny and witty and make your dinner an unforgettable experience !!!! We all started with the bisque. The second I tasted that I knew dinner was going to be good. So rich with flavor. I had the 8 oz filet which was done how I liked it. My mashed potatoes were to die for with breadcrumbs on top. My husband ordered 18 oz angus ribeye which he said was one of the best he's had. If you manage to snag a seat at the bar, Happy hour is a good deal and the cheese curds are one of the best I've had. My husband and I dined there for dinner recently. We started with happy hour, then moved to the dining room. The first time we dined here we were disappointed, so I was looking forward to giving it another chance. Yet again, we were overall disappointed. The food was incredibly overpriced for what we got. I love a good beef carpaccio and was super excited to try theirs, and I was very underwhelmed. It really lacked flavor and the rye bread as to opposed to a toasted crostini or something else, made it feel cheap and confused the flavors of the dish . I definitely would not recommend it. Overall, the only thing I would go back for would be the cheese curds. We went for a belated anniversary and spent a lot of money for food that was not worth it. We will not be back. read more

Another fantastic dinner at Mr. B's in Brookfield. The service was excellent - Arnold & Jeff were attentive and knowledgeable. Our table was in a quiet spot, but you could still see the action in the kitchen. Everyone who stopped by our table was welcoming and kind. We love the mocktail and NA beverage options - having Athletic on tap was a nice surprise. We enjoyed the Waygu meatballs and lobster mac to start - generous portions of both, and both were so good! Our steaks and salmon were prepared perfectly. You can't go wrong with the filet, bourbon peppercorn cream sauce, and bacon roasted potatoes - the perfect combo. My husband and I dined there last night. We weren't all that happy with our food. I ordered the chicken, because I use to really love it, but it was not great this time. Was dry, bad tasting, did not have much meat on it either. Potatoes were good though. It came with a salad on the plate that was tasteless, instead of the carrots I got the last time which were good. My husband just got a cheeseburger with fries. It was cooked properly, but he said it was not the best either. We both feel, for fine dining it should be better, even for what we ordered. We usually get steak, but this time felt like something lighter. On another note, I reheated the rest of my chicken and potatoes today and it was terrible. Wasn't asked if we wanted anything to drink when was given the menus by the server. Must have overheard us complain then came back to ask if we wanted a drink... altogether slow for a Saturday night at 6:30, painful. We came out for a company dinner on a busy weekend--the place was packed. Upon arrival, friendly staff offered to take out coats for the coat check process. We gave the hostess the information for the party and were quickly escorted to the back, where our company was located. When we entered the room, we saw tables filled with delicious, perfectly plated hors d'oeuvres. You've seen other photos, I'm sure--butter is cut in triangles, and garnishes are properly placed. It was quite apparent that they took the right amount of time to make things presentable and delicious. We had the Wisconsin Cheese Plate, Crab Cakes, The ambiance was quite nice, and on a busy night like this, it was loud. In the room we were in, there were plenty of things knocking around on the other side of the wall. It sounded like it was even on the roof, though I doubt it - the kitchen was right on the other side, and I'm sure they're sliding in plates and the like. Even if you're going to get a private room at Mr. B's, be prepared for the noise. Drinks were delicious: wine, Bourbon, Old Fashioneds, you name it. Everyone who came in to assist with the food, drinks, plating, etc., was professional, courteous, and surprisingly fast. I had even asked where the bathroom was, and it wasn't just an explanation-I was escorted there. The pace at which food came out was perfectly timed, which was surprising to me, considering that there were no empty tables. The staff deserves a lot of credit for the place running like a well-oiled machine. Shellfish Bisque was savory, and the fresh lobster, shrimp, and crab were a great start to the meal. The filet mignon and lobster tail were the perfect combo. Melt in your mouth for the steak, perfect seasoning combination, lobster and drawn butter were fantastic. The desserts were Apple Cobbler, Sorbet, and Cheesecake. All were excellent ways to end the night, and no one walked away hungry. We got there early on a Friday and they couldn't seat us early (understandably cause they were busy), so I wouldn't recommend going early unless you're ok waiting. It's really nice that they had two people waiting on each table so they could give speedy service. We started with the crab cake that was very meaty and came with a creamy sauce and small salad. We then got the filet and shrimp combo. It came with a delicious filet that was cooked and seasoned to perfection as well as three jumbo shrimp. We got a couple sides to split including the lobster mac that was great! It had some but not a ton of lobster. Still good compared to a lot of other steakhouses we've been to. We also got the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach that were both great! We ended with the key lime tart that was also great and not too sweet. We were here for our anniversary and were looking for a special night. Before I dive deeper, the food and drinks were amazing! No complaints about that! Nancy (our 1st server) was amazing, no complaints except we wish it was just her serving us. Arnold on the other hand was the opposite. Un-attentive, mumble the entire time, seemed to be mumbling under his breath as well. Said it wasn't the same one that I saw moved from server table. My potato was hardly warm (not hot) and my steak was rare and not medium well as I requested. She even asked me twice how I wanted it done. They comped that too and asked if there was anything that they could get for me. Sorry, I waited all day for this meal and now had no appetite. My husband and I went out for our 18th wedding anniversary for a nice dinner along with our three kids. We made the reservation a night before using the OpenTable site. Found the time slot we wanted and noted the occasion. The next day Bartollota's called to confirm. Easy and convenient process. We were greeted quickly and seated quickly. Our waiter came to greet us and served our water as well as took our drink orders. Staff was attentive and friendly. The bread came hot and fresh. I don't like bread but could have eaten the entire basket myself. Sooo good. We ordered Calamari for an appetizer which came pretty quickly. For dinner 4 out of 5 ordered steak and my one kids had Lobster mac and cheese. All the steaks medium rare as requested even the kid's small steak came medium rare. Mine...I requested rare plus. Kudos for not over cooking it. The sides seem smaller than I remember. But the roasted Brussel Sprouts and button mushrooms were still good. I was really torn on writing this review because I LOVE the Bartolotta group restaurants, but unfortunately this just did not hit the mark and realistically I wouldn't go again or recommend this location. (But the others are amazing and you definitely should try them out)! When I think of a Bartolotta Steakhouse I think upscale, high quality, and SUPERIOR service. (Aka lake park bistro - my favorite restaurant). However, even with 2 servers we did not feel this was an upscale service experience. Our servers didn't seem to like each other (just a feeling we got) and did not communicate well, we were asked the same questions by both - and offered the dessert menu twice at the end of dinner even though we had dessert FIRST. Both servers were friendly and pleasant when interacting with us however, they just didn't give off the superior service feeling and I didn't feel like they worked well as a team. The food was very flavorful and both our steaks were cooked to the perfect temperature. Also, We actually started our meal with a crème brûlée, which was absolutely perfect. The drinks, however, left some thing to be desired. we got an espresso martini and their coffee cocktail and neither screamed out to us with flavor. And then we attempted to order a bottle of wine, but unfortunately, our servers didn't know that much about the different wines and even took the menu from out my hands to read the description when I asked a question about a bottle. The bartender was very kind and came over and offered a sample of a different wine to see if I liked that without me asking which was amazing. But again at a Bartolotta restaurant I expect my server to be well-versed in their wine list if I'm paying that price point for a bottle, or at least have someone else on staff that can come and properly answer my questions. And a personal note, I hate the checkered tablecloths it does not give that clean/upscale vibe. The inside gave more suburb supper club vibes where you can enjoy with your family versus a fancy date night experience. (Which isn't a bad thing - if that's what you're looking for this is the perfect location for that.) Overall, this restaurant is very pleasant and if you have the money to enjoy it, absolutely go for it. But when my husband and I treat ourselves only once a year to a Bartolotta restaurant for our anniversary and expect an amazing meal from start to finish this just didn't hit the mark. read more

I visited Mr. B's for the first time last night and I had a very pleasant experience. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. My party ordered two appetizers - lobster mac and cheese and fried calamari. The mac and cheese was absolutely incredible. The ratio of lobster to pasta was just right. You were able to get a bite of lobster with every forkful. The toasted breadcrumbs gave the whole dish a nice bit of texture and crunch. Although it wasn't anything revolutionary or mind blowing, the fried calamari was also yummy. We ordered two of the 44 oz. Porterhouse for two dinners, and the steak was cooked perfectly. I ordered it done medium, and it was exactly how I expected it. However, it wasn't sizzling hot. The first bite was pretty warm, but by the end of the meal it was venturing on the cool side. The Yukon gold potato purée was creamy and flavorful (although I forgot to take a photo of it). The loaded baked potato was also top notch. The glazed carrots were sweet and a little crispy on the outside but melt in your mouth soft on the inside. The asparagus was seasoned well and had a little bit of a crunch to it - not soggy at all. The shrimp cocktail was also good - but you can't really mess up cold shrimp with cocktail sauce. My mockjito was perfect. It didn't skimp on the berries and mint. Patrice, our server, was attentive and friendly. My brother and I were celebrating a special event, so she brought us each a little dish of peach sorbet with a candle. The sorbet was more icy than smooth, but it was still good. It was a really nice way to end the dinner. I think Mr. B's is one of those places you come for a celebration, but not for regular outings. The food is extremely expensive, but this is the best steak you will get in the area. So if you're willing to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a nice meal, I'd give this place a go. read more

We have eaten here literally dozens of times, however, the last few times both the service and food have gone downhill, fast. The bisque was lukewarm (17 dollars a bowl) scallops were cold, a medium-well steak was literally charred, black and dry (with no pink center). The baked potatoes were hard and one member of our party was served his crab cake, soup and salad all at once. Despite asking for his soup to be served first. Oh, and our server forgot our soup spoons. We waited 5+ minutes to get them. Overall, an awful experience. Will not return anytime soon. read more

Fantastic spot for a special occasion. We enjoyed a family holiday meal at Bartolotta this December. The service is top-notch, the atmosphere is has a classic, classy feel, and the food is delicious. I saw a few other Yelper state this and it needs to be said again. I am a huge fan of the Bartolotta family of restaurants. Bacchus and the Bartolotta 1993 in Tosa are outstanding. So, I thought I'd take my dad to try out their steaks. He had the filet mignon and was throughly pleased. I, sadly, didn't have the same luck. The strawberry salad was dirt tasting and some of the strawberries were gamey. When I told the waiter he just replied with, "Oh. Alright. I can get them to make you another." Not a good start. Next, I had the 28 dollar pasta with eggplant. The pasta was flavorless and had a bit of a rubbery consistency. But, the eggplant hadn't been prepared correctly. It hadn't been salted prior and was a bitter, undercooked, rubbery chunky mess. I got a comp on the bill for the salad but paid for the pasta dish. This actually is common around town at steakhouses. They pride themselves for the steak and sod the rest. So, for the great steak, I give them a 5 and for the rest they got a 1. Split the difference and an OK is all I can muster. read more

She gave the kids steak a 5 star and is already asking when she can go back. Didn't get too many photos because we were too busy enjoying the atmosphere and fine food. From the bread basket to the flourless chocolate cake everything was delicious. Wife had the scallops and found them to be perfect, did mention that she would prefer them on a bed of risotto but aside from that she was satisfied. I had the New York with the loaded baked potato. The flavor of the steak is remarkable and you can tell they really take the time to prep the steaks. We also had the wedge salad which was a perfect size, full of fresh ingredients. Let me be very clear, the food at Mr. B's was very good and would warrant a 4 star rating if all was "normal" in the world today -- however, this place has taken the COVID scare to a new level and has completely ruined the special experience that Mr. B's once was. I should have expected something was off when 1 hour prior to our arrival they contacted us to go over the COVID requirements but shrugged it off as they were just being extra thorough. I honestly thought that previous reviews of all the COVID restrictions were over the top ---- I was wrong. Unfortunately, Mr. B's is no longer a special place to relax and enjoy a nice dinner.....it has morphed into a painful dining experience and almost comical on the levels in which patrons are inconvenienced. I can get past the thermometer check before you even walk in, or even wearing the mask as you enter the restaurant.....but then the craziness begins... First we were required to follow the arrows on the floor to get to our table --- patrons must also follow the arrows to head to restrooms as well....God forbid you don't walk the right way, because you will be corrected by the designated hall monitors. Now let's get to the what I like to call the "Mask On, Mask Off" policy in place.......the servers will not even approach your table unless you have a mask on.....in fact, you REQUIRED to put a mask on whenever addressing an employee from your table. Place a drink order--Mask On. Talk to your table mate(s) -- Mask Off. Drinks arrive -- Mask on. Enjoy your drink --- mask off. Server shows up to go over specials --- Mask on..........I think you get the picture. Servers will stand at least 6 feet from your table holding your food/drink order UNTIL you put your mask on. Of course the server comes back to check on you (as they should), and they mask has to go on even through you are in the middle of the meal. One last little nugget --- they actually have the gall to charge you $4 per person as a COVID fee on the final bill!! The print is so small at the bottom of the menu, it is ridiculous. They will remove it if you ask, but again the way it is snuck onto the menu is a bit disturbing. I would have been fine had that been disclosed in the initial call to review the COVID guidelines, but it was not. Also, I would suggest the $4 per person fee be given to servers in the form of additional gratuity which I suspect many people would have no issue with. We have been loyal customers since 2006 and were really looking forward to going back now that they were open. I can say that we never need to go back after this experience. We have been to many fine restaurants in the area throughout the pandemic, and have never experienced anything this over the top. I have been to physicians since this pandemic began and have not experienced this level of prevention even in a healthcare setting. If you are this afraid of COVID then you should continue to shelter in place. read more

As a Bartolotta this restaurant is already going to be known as a "great" in the Milwaukee area. The food did options did not disappoint. The "meat display" was interesting, informative, and kind of a clever idea. The food itself was perfectly cooked to order. All the things I've come to expect out of this brand. I was here with a party of nine and the biggest issue I had was that the dinner was a 3+ hour affair. I felt service was a little slow, appetizers didn't hit the tables until an hour and fifteen minutes after we were seated, and through the course of the night I was only asked once if I wanted a drink refill. This meant two drinks the entire night over three hours. For a social event like this I would have hoped service would be more on point and the servers would be better about keeping drinks full. The server wasn't very good about water either, in fairness. Lastly, the menu sizes are super awkward and unwieldy. Especially since we had them in our hands through the appetizers. Many of us ultimately just put them on the floor but it was an awkward and odd situation. read more

My experience at Mr.B's for my birthday was a good. My mother and I went for the evening, the food ALMOST lived up to my expectations. Special thanks to CJ and Brian, they were our waiters and were wonderful. For an appetizer we had the roasted seafood platter... DELICIOUS. The broth that everything sits in, is to die for. Only bummer was that it wasn't hot. Some of the food (like the lobster that was in it) was cold. A slight let down fo sure. The yummy (slightly warm) broth is what closed the deal though. I'd definitely go back just for this item. For main courses I had special which was a 50-something day dry-aged strip with the classic béarnaise sauce. The flavor of the steak was really good and it had a nice sear. Unfortunately, it was over cooked. I ordered it medium and it came out medium well to almost well. My mother's ribeye was also over cooked. She ordered her's medium-well, it came out well done. I've seen lot of similar reviews saying people's steaks have been over cooked. Mr. B's should really work on that. For it to be an upscale steakhouse, I expect my steak to be perfect. For my birthday they offered me a complimentary dessert, and it was the best I've had in a while. It was a flourless chocolate cake with a creme anglaise and fresh blue berries, it was delicious. The food is always great. Prices are up there but I guess you get what you pay for. We had a lovely dinner for my birthday.

It's been several years since my last visit to Mr. B's. I'm a member of the Bartolotta Rewards program, so I had a birthday certificate and points to use, so I chose Mr. B's this year. For a Tuesday night, the place was packed! I was told there were two parties of 30-40 people last night in the back rooms, on top of a full dining room. Luckily, I had a reservation. I started with the Maryland Crab Cake, which I thought was excellent! It was packed with crab meat and had a crispy exterior. The remoulade was a great complement, as was the small salad garnish with orange wedges. Next up was the Lobster Mac-n-Cheese. The flavors were great, but I thought they went too heavy with the bread crumbs. It seemed like a bread crumb dish with a garnish of lobster mac. There were bread crumbs on the bottom, in the middle, and a thick layer over the top. I would maybe just leave the top layer and let the customer stir it into the rest of the dish to spread it out. For my entrée, I ordered one of the specials of the day, a 28 day aged bone-in ribeye from corn-fed beef. I ordered it medium rare, and it was perfectly cooked to medium rare, with a great sear and crust on the exterior. It was very flavorful! I prefer not to add sauces or jus to my steak because I prefer to taste its natural flavor. Instead, I added the special steak topping offer of roasted morel mushrooms and ramps, since they are in season and usually don't stick around menus very long due to their popularity. They were also very good. The service I received from Jeff and Nancy was outstanding! Jeff suggested the pureed potatoes with the al forno topping as my side, and it was a great call! Lots of butter with some crunch from the garlic bread crumbs, making it a great side dish! I didn't have room for dessert, but took the triple layer chocolate tort home and enjoyed it this morning. It was rich, but not too rich, and served with blueberries and blackberries. I would highly recommend it for dessert.
